  Best Carry On Luggage for 2026?

  I love my luggage from Muji. Not all the marketing of the “popular” luggage companies but the product itself is great and the price is so reasonable. Not sure exactly how “for life” it is, but I’ve had it for a year or two and the quality so far has been great

  Best Carry On Luggage for 2026?

  I have used a Osprey Farpoint and a Muji carryon. Osprey speaks for itself, works well and i like the design. Muji is not expensive but far more practical than my Samsonite carryon. I also like that it has a button to lock the wheels and prevent it rolling.

  Need new wardrobe. Do I go LL Bean, Filson, Patagonia, Huckleberry? Main goal is to last a long time.

  Start by building a bit of a uniform first not just heading to a store. Clothes you wear to work, clothes you wear to the gym, and clothes you wear everywhere else. T-shirts, button downs, jeans, khakis, jackets, coats, shoes, sweaters & sweatshirts. Then start ticking things off the list. Like: 4 Tshirts from Muji, 2 pair Jeans from Buck mason or 3 Sixteen or Levis or wherever you like to get your jeans 3-4 good sweaters of varying weight and color. 3 pair khakis from Jcrew or wherever in tan/green a good grey sweatshirt a good blue blazer, a good tweed blazer At least one good pair of dress pants that go with the above blazers button down shirts from wherever a good winter coat, a good fall jacket, a good dress winter coat, a rain coat/shell, a hoodie stuff for the gym, dedicated gym shoes everyday belt, dress belt (match dress belt to dress shoes) You don't need to buy it all at once, but only certain items are going to be "Buy it for life" things like selvedge denim jeans, well made jackets/coats/blazers, and if you're lucky your sweaters will last but you'll have to replace the rest at some point.

  Why is it so hard to find well-made clothes that aren't insanely priced?

  Muji and Uniqlo offer pretty decent good quality at affordable prices. For example, thick wool knit sweaters at $50-80 I usually get from Muji and they are great.  Fjallraven is also another brand that makes high quality items are a slightly higher price, but no where near the prices you listed. Stay away from designer brands, they markup solely because of their name, but does not necessarily mean they are high quality.

  Munji! I actually bought 100% cotton overall trousers online for less than $100 USD. I also like their shirt options but I was looking for trousers at that time. They use a variety of natural fibers but everything is natural!

  Seconding COSABELLA! I also use laundry mesh bags to machine wash and hang them dry. If I have time for hand washing, I use Forever New delicate detergent. *I highly recommend getting a bunch of Muji’s cushion mesh round net, if you can find them

  Muji, Banana Republic for everyday-wear. CT, Loro, and Brunello. IMHO suits should never be bought off the rack — mind are all hand-stitched and (more importantly) cut for me. I buy suit material opportunistically. Suit supply is okay — they use a method called made to measure which can give good results but is not BIFL. And you only really need two suits: navy and charcoal.

  Do Muji Socks Last Long?

  I have some Muji socks and they're fine, but I don't know if they're better or worse than most other socks. I'd say almost no socks are BIFL except for heavy wool socks that you're willing to have repaired, so if you like the Muji ones you might as well give them a try, it's a pretty small investment. I've generally found Muji clothing to be pretty good quality for the price.

  Ngl, I am a huge fan of the Muji refillables as well, so it makes me happy to see someone else on that train! I would honestly say just stick with Muji. The 404 will probably be gone in a week, and if not you could probably reach out on their website and they would fix it fast. They wouldn’t want the 404 getting in the way of sales.

  Wish I Had Chosen A Different Color: LL Bean Toiletry Organizer

  I have a similar tote with a hanger that is built exactly like the L one that's from Muji, search for 'Polyester Hanging Toiletry Case.' Don't know if it's the same size, I doubt it is BIFL as it is just poly, but I've found the bag very helpful in my travels.

  Uniqlo basic tees and their selvage jeans are good everything else is sub par quality. Muji has better quality shirts. Charhartt wip are pricey but worth it. Work boots. If you can afford redwings those are amazing. If you cant, wolverines are good intro boots. Ive had a pair for 10 years and counting ive only had them repaired once. Watch I chose a seiko automatic not too expensive but reliable easy to maintain and relatively stylish. As someone that walks as a main mode of transportation there are NO BIFL sneakers/shoes so buy whatevers comfortable and just trust that youll need to replace them after a year (or 2 max) and since everyones foot is different youll need to find a shoe that you have tried before buying. Rain coat columbia is the best IMO. North face is literally the heaviest out of the rest. Patagonia is OK but theres something about it im not comfortable with. Backpack. Waxed canvas. Just remember to check the wax on it regularly. No specific brand in mind its more of the upkeep I have literally 20+ different insulated tumblers ive only used 2 on a daily basis. One is a standard 22oz silver one with no paint coating. Its all beat up but it has character and since it doesnt have paint my ocd doesnt get triggered. The second one is an old hydroflask back when they were just starting and not a money grab company they are now. Its an open top cap one for coffee. Lunch box, zojirushi lunch jar. Yes this is pricy but as someone who is well in his 30s and brings lunch to work this is awesome cause it keeps food hot for 8hrs (warm till 12hrs) ive had mine since college. This thing is pretty indestructible im pretty sure it would out live me. Also since im also part asian zojirushi rice cookers are built to be handed down generationally. Right now im out of what else to recommend but let me know if youre looking for a specific item ill let you know my thoughts on it. Yeah other people would recommend the best most expensive but on an actual practical level im a pretty safe bet to ask.

  Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?

  Ive also noticed that even when it’s a cheap pen, if it’s my only pen, it finds a way to stick around. My boss gave me a basic Muji pen when I started almost a year go and somehow it hasn’t found a way to disappear.

  Muji from Japan is sold in their US site. If you can get sizing to fit you they make simple styles but still use a lot of heavy cotton or linens. I purchased winter flannel pajamas for my mom and it was so much thicker and higher quality than the normal stuff I get to the point that even the inside of the where the buttons go have that loose flappy cloth in 99% of jammies was stitched in neatly. If you are always warm they also have 100% cotton muslin/ they call it gauze for breathable material.

  Are there comfortable house sandals in this style that I don't have to replace every six months?

  I'm not sure if Muji still sells them but in 2017 I had a pair of woven bamboo slippers from them with a linen type of toe strap. They lasted till about 2022 when I bought a pair of LL Bean flip flops

  Recommending the Japanese nail clippers

  Seki (and Mehaz but german) have been the best for me. Muji was my travel go to but they seem to not make the smaller one anymore (kept losing them or friends and family would take them....) . Daiso was a pleasant surprise (though probably made in China) but will see with time how they last.

  Flannel shirts that last

  My muji flannel has outlasted all of their stores in my country. Had to do a minor repair after something sharp cut through it, but it was sharp enough to draw blood so I don't blame the shirt for tearing.

  Having lived in Europe, you need shoes that are good for cobbled streets and don’t cause blisters. Try getting some Muji or Uniqlo thermal socks and then boots that have a good rubber sole (won’t slip and grip the road) as well as something that is WATERPROOF. All the brands you mentioned won’t last a day in European winter rain or snow. Even Zara has better options.

  Get an Osprey backpack like the faraway 40. You’ll get much more use out of it than a suitcase. Try Muji. The wheels glide on their suitcases and also have a lock to stop the case rolling.
