Fake tree owners, did yours actually last more than a couple of years?
I actually considered waiting for an after-Christmas sale, but I discovered a great find in National Tree Company. They had solid construction reviews and hit that mid-range sweet spot you mentioned, couldn't pass it up. Your parents' 25-year-old tree with the duct-taped box is absolutely legendary though. That's the goal lol!

Sounds like a steal so far! I ended up going with a pre-lit option from National Tree Company for similar reasons. Happy with my tree right now, I got a lot of the same construction quality as the big brands (mixed PE/PVC, sturdy metal frame, realistic molding) but at a more affordable price point. Hoping my tree gives me the same 7+ years you're getting!

Price aside; which is the Best Buy?
I bought a tree from the National Tree Company about 4 years ago and it's great. It looks great and has held up well except for the lights. I would recommend buying it without lights. Over the years, parts of the light strands died and last year I spent 6 hours cutting all the dead strands wrapped around the branches in the tree. So much easier to get one without lights then add your own.

What’s the most realistic artificial Christmas tree that’ll last for years?
tbh i was skeptical about pre-lit trees but the national tree company one i got a few years back has held up really well, no sagging branches or dead lights yet and it looks pretty real.

You're overthinking it. No fake tree is truly "realistic" but some are less obviously fake. Just get an unlit one from national tree company and string your own lights; the built-in ones always crap out anyway. Expect to replace the lights every few years, not the tree itself.

i totally get wanting something that lasts, those cheap ones are such a pain. i've had a national tree company tree for a few years now and it still looks great, the lights are even and the branches haven't sagged at all.

I remember the struggle with those cheap trees, lol. We finally bit the bullet a few years ago and got a national tree company tree, and it's held up beautifully; the branches are still sturdy and the pre-lit lights are perfect.
