What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?
I agree with others. There are no shoes that are BIFL. Rubber wears out. Foam disintegrates. Leather wears. Fabric rips. But I find that a good pair of running sneakers is best for travel. Comfortable and durable through airports and whatever place you are walking high mileage through. I currently wear good Mizuno. I like their cushioning as a >200lb person. I find their carbon rubber soles to outlast any brand out there. Also for travel to rainy climates like Japan or Seattle I think the Nike Pegasus Gore- Tex models are versatile, comfortable and waterproof breathable. I find that the chunky hiking soles of hiking models and brands are not comfortable on pavement or concrete and are actually slippery on wet flat surfaces. They were meant for gravel and dirt.

Men’s pouch underwear that survives gym + running + hiking?
Pair of Thieves hold up pretty well as boxers. But I would not run in them, but that’s probably more of a preference. (I have done it, not a fan). I switched to Nike briefs, super comfy, never thought I would switch to this style. Definitely holds everything in place, minimal adjustment needed when compared to boxers! I run in brief style lined shorts, or if I’m wearing tights, a pair of Nike compression shorts that I hike up a bit.

What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?
TRAIL running shoes, like [Nike Pegasus Trail](https://www.nike.com/t/pegasus-trail-5-mens-trail-running-shoes-0ZrZ4D/DV3864-002). Tougher than road running shoes with better soles for off-roading. Wearable for 6-8hr ultra marathons, so yeah, they will be fine for walking around Rome or Machu Picchu. All black or grey looks more formal than wild colors. Also, no running shoe is BIFL.

What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?
Your best bet for all in one is a pair of trail runners that are comfortable, functional, can be used in the gym/trail/street, and are fashion-forward in a streetwear sense to the point where you could get away with wearing them dressed up to dinner somewhere. Salomon S/Lab Genesis, Tracksmith Eliot, Nnormal Kierag 01, one of the Nike Pegasus Trails in certain colors, etc. These are all sneakers and are not BIFL. The justification for purchasing is not to last forever but rather to not have to pack multiple shoes and check luggage.

Adidas Terex, or Nike Dunk Low GTX, or Merrill GoreTex is what I would recommend. All very comfortable for all day wear. None are that heavy like a leather boot for example. Waterproof and good grip for all weather situations.

What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?
If you’re looking at what’s actually performing well *and* trending in 2025, these five are hard to beat: Adidas OZWEEGO, Adidas Samba, New Balance 9060, Nike Zoom Vomero 5, and ASICS GEL-1130. They’re popular for a reason. All are comfortable for long walking days, handle mixed city terrain well, and still work with casual travel outfits instead of looking like pure running shoes. I’ve found this category of “lifestyle-runner hybrids” to be way more travel-friendly than over-hyped fashion sneakers.

Waterproof Everyday/Running Shoes Recommendation
Salomon XT6 Goretex is a great pick for durability and grip. Also consider Hoka Challenger ATR 6 GTX or Nike Pegasus Trail 4 Gore-Tex for all-weather comfort.

Waterproof Everyday/Running Shoes Recommendation
I exclusively wear waterproof shoes (whether boots or sneakers). For sneakers, I’ve really loved my Nike Pegasus Trail Gore-Tex high tops, adidas ultraboost winter.rdy or cold.rdy, and lately I’ve been wearing Merrell Moab Speed Gore-Tex. Never had a problem with wet feet, always comfortable and don’t worry about rain or puddles

Looking for the most durable and fashionable men’s sneakers
You’re not doing anything wrong wearing one pair almost every day will kill pretty much any sneaker, especially flat ones like Chucks, Vans, or Sambas. They look great but they’re not built to be daily beaters. If you want stuff that actually holds up *and* still looks good, these are easily the top picks in 2025: **Adidas Samba (in rotation, not daily), Adidas Ozeweego, New Balance 9060, Nike Zoom Vomero 5, and ASICS Gel-1130**. All of those have way better cushioning, heel structure, and outsole durability than vulcanized shoes. Biggest upgrade though? Rotate 2–3 pairs. One flat classic, one cushioned runner-style shoe, one casual beater. Even “durable” sneakers fall apart fast if they’re worn every day.

What are the most durable shirts?
Seen atleast 1 other comment mentioning the same, but cathartt for sure. Although they do tend to fade out and start becoming thinner overtime, they last longer then most other brands. Suprisingly I have had awesome luck with Nike also. I dont buy 40+ tshirt, and stick to like $20 range and most end up lasting years

Best Running Shoes According to Reddit Users
I’m both an athlete and a coach. No running shoes are truly BIFL, because the materials that make them perform, degrade over a relatively short period. As others have said, a professional fitting is a good idea because it’s highly specific to your goals, body mechanics etc. HOWEVER, for myself and most athletes that I’ve worked with, the Nike Invincible (now superceded by the Vomero) is a really good combination of performance and durability. You could race a marathon in them (if you’re not a super elite) and also use them as daily trainers. As far as the BIFL aspect goes for me, once they are no longer “performing”, I retire them from running and use them as daily casual shoes around the house/office etc. (After a thorough wash of course!). I’ve got a few pairs that are several years old and still fine for “non running” purposes.

Best Running Shoes According to Reddit Users
It's such a personal thing. I run tonnes and tend to use NB or Asics, but I know ultra marathoners who swear by Saucony or Nike or. Nnormal. It's really about what feels good on your feet and what fits your running style (e.g. if you heel strike, certain shoes won't work for you) and foot shape (some shoes have narrow toe boxes).

Best Running Shoes According to Reddit Users
There is zero chance that Reddit is going to give you an answer here. Foot size, gait, size, distance, etc are drastically different from everyone else. Unless you have a twin, you won't find a "perfect match." I would start with a professional style running shoe store. One that caters to marathon/triathlon type people. You want to buy shoes that have a 10 mile return policy. You likely will buy and hate the first 4 pairs of shoes you buy. Don't get stuck with a closet full of shoes you don't like. Bonus: Nikes purchased directly from Nike are returnable for 30 days even with signs of use. They fully accept used shoes for a full refund, including paying for return shipping.

I've been rocking a few $10 Nike squeeze bottles for at least 10 years now. They're so convenient, no messing around with a lid or straw, just a one way valve. HOWEVER I have learned the hard way (multiple times) that when flying the difference in pressure will empty the *entire contents* of these bottles into your bag during takeoff...

Water Bottle to replace my girlfriend's addiction to Smart Water
I was using smart water bottles as refillable water bottles just a couple months ago and got a "Nike TR Renew Recharge 32oz Chug Bottle" and am loving it! It's transparent, really easy to open/close, super simple to clean, good clean taste (I'm very picky with water). Alternatively I looked at the Gatorade style squeeze bottles but the one I got was so easy to clean the top. I am so reliant on it now and I forgot it at the office (and had to drink from a cup last night) so I drove down to the office today to get it so I don't have to live dehydrated all weekend. Hope this helps, happy water bottle hunting :)

Water Bottle to replace my girlfriend's addiction to Smart Water
I think your gf might be my long lost twin because this is also my wishlist. I have yet to find something that is 100% but these get the closest… [Gatorade Gx 30 oz. Bottle](https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/gatorade-gx-30-ozbottle-18gatagtrd30zgxbtcac/18gatagtrd30zgxbtcac) ^ it’s only 30oz - Nike Hypercharge Straw 32oz Sport Active Water Bottle ^found at Marshall’s in 2024. The straw/lid is hard to clean. [32 oz Wide Mouth Travel Bottle with Flex Straw Cap](https://www.hydroflask.com/32-oz-wide-mouth-travel-bottle-with-flex-straw-cap) ^not clear. This is the one I keep in my car since it fits in my Subaru cup holder. [Owala FreeSip Sway](https://owalalife.com/products/freesip-sway) ^ also not clear. Pretty much the same as the Hydroflask but a different design and different color options. Nalgene used to make a 32oz bottle that was taller than it was wide but it’s discontinued now. This was my favorite until it broke because it had a narrower spout. I’m excited to go through this thread and see if anything matches our wishlist.

Try Arcteryx. I've had their lightweight running jacket for about 8 years now and it still looks intact. I've also had a pair of simple Nike leggings for 10 years. In general, it's more about how you wash and care for your gear than anything else. Personally, I don't think these items are worth a BIFL investment. I'd rather buy interesting, less expensive pieces and keep them in rotation.

Black/Blue Everyday Shoes/Sneakers - Comfy for Walking, Good Enough for Semi-Dressed Up Night Out
I bought 5 pairs of the Nike Revolution triple black when they were on sale. generally speaking skateboard shoes are overbuilt to withstand their use case and will last a lot longer than a normal sneaker if you don't skate. Since the 80’s, Nike tennis shoes have held up longer, for me, than any other shoe brand. I’ve tried them all, multiple times, over the years. What's your best BIFL clothing advice?
Athletic clothing is hard, because people tend to wear it until it is not in great shape. For regular clothes, research the really good brands. Remember that some brands have different lines, a cheaper line and a better line. If it suits your style, go for the classics that you can wear for years. I have great success shopping the deep discounts on thredup and the real real. I look for lesser known but very high-quality brands. About 1/3 of the clothes I buy from them don't fit right or I just don't like them, but the others are such a steal and such high-quality it is more than worth it. You can reconsign the others or just donate them. Be careful about returning too much, you can get banned from buying from them again.

1. The amount of steps you take during the day means zero. 2. You cannot ask about comfort in shoes ever as that's a personal metric. 3. You cannot ask about support in shoes ever as that's a personal metric and shoes come in length and sometimes width measurements and if you native footbed is fine...great....if not, that's a YOU issue where you buy aftermarket or custom insoles. Nike AF1 and Adidas Sambas are known tough. Google Margom sole sneakers as there are many makers which can be resoled by a cobbler for years of service.. I buy a certain Nike shoe. I’m worried they’ll change the style and it won’t fit right but I’ve bought a pair two times in the past 5 years. My hydroflask is still going strong but I’ll buy that brand again when mine goes missing or destroyed. I bought my hydroflask in 2014 or 2015. I’m worried they’ll change don’t have the same top for it.

Looking for high-quality plain t-shirts that last
Bro I worked in garments from screen to digital dtf and hands down the better brands give you a better fabric. The blends are where it’s at for lasting color and wear.. Tultex or American Apparel are my favorites. If it’s a cotton it has to be ultra thick or Bella Canvas soft style concert tees. Low cost and very quality. Otherwise just get polyester shirts from wherever. Adidas and Nike have outlet stores where you can get Dri-fit tees that are top tier. Puma and UA are meh.

The Best Running Shoes Right now? Recommendation?
Nike literally invented the modern running shoe. They were the top brand for Team USA Track & Field at the Paris Olympics. You can buy Nike Air Zoom Pegasus on the official TF team store. Your statement is misleading. Nike shoes are just as competitive as Brooks, New Balance & Asics.

R/running would probably be a good place to ask. I've got a pair of Nike metacon 4 and a pair of Nike V5 rnr and they're both pretty comfortable. Not sure on the durability though.

Very sad to say Blundstones are no longer BIFL. I had a pair in my youth that lasted me a decade. Now after a few short months the soles of this pair has literally turned to dust!
I’ve had my pair of Nike Air Relentless 6 for 9 years now. There’s no tread left and when I walk in a store it’s like walking on ice. You’d be better off getting a pair of those to put on the miles

When I worked at Nike we would all choose the pegasus for our free shoes, they did well standing on the concrete floors all day - important to note I may be biased because of that lol

Looking for durable mens shoes
Are you looking for a canvas sneaker or an athletic shoe? Either way, shoes with foam soles aren’t really BIFL unless you’re very light and very easy on shoes. I would expect a pair of nike pegasus to last you a good year or two if you have completely normal feet with no issues to speak of. I may get crucified for saying N*ke but they are good shoes, but only if you pony up for the mainline stuff. There are likely better brands that I am ignorant to, but I like the Nike Goretex stuff as it’s very durable in my experience.

ThisTumi bag was stupid expensive but it's seen a dozen countries and been kicking ass for 11 years.
10 years is not impressive for a backpack. Why does this sub think otherwise? Both the ogio (nice) and Nike backpacks (comparatively cheap) that I got as corporate swag have lasted over 10 years and look new. I still have the jansport backpack I got for middle school 25 years ago and that one looks pretty worn but still works as a backspace. There's zero durability related reason to pay $$$ for a backpack. If you’re paying $$$ for a backpack it’s a status symbol and a fashion statement.

Yeah, I spent £35 on a Nike backpack 21 years ago. I used it everyday for 6 years through college/uni. Still use it regularly for gym gear and travelling for work. It's largely made of cheap polyester. But the design and construction is solid. If people looked after their things, they wouldn't need to spend $1,000 on a bag. I don't care how good the quality is at those sort of prices it will *never* be worth it.

Half of my darn tough socks have holes in them
Honestly my best pairs of socks have been three pairs of navy Nike basketball socks. I’m not sure the exact name, but they come as one pair, not the big six pack of white picks that get crusty after four wears. I’ve used them inside the house, outside on concrete (repeatedly), for sports, in the winter for snowmobiling and snowboarding, as well as for horse riding (western-can’t stand it when my boots rub my calves, it will absolutely send me into a rage). I’ve had these three pairs for probably almost 6 years now (possibly longer, but that might be pushing it) and I might *possibly* have one itty bitty hole in one of them and it’s small enough that I don’t even notice.

My European friends always told me Levi’s jeans are cheaper in the States, if you’re into that. I think a lot of name brands, like Nike, etc can be cheaper here. I’d look for an outlet mall and go check out what they have. Not buy it for life things, unfortunately.

What brand of shoes that lasts?
Your budget does not support unlocking all BIFL sneakers. There are some sneakers that are just known hardy. From what I remember/know, those are Adidas Sambas and Nike AF1. And while these are "guys" shoes, you are certainly eligible to wear them. If you want real BIFL sneakers, Allen Edmonds makes some and you can google Margom sole sneakers as these both can be recrafted by a cobbler for years and years of use, but they usually exceed $100.

Best shoes for walking/standing all day?
1. Good cushioning is a personal metric and asking online is wasting everyone's time. 2. Arch support in shoes is not a thing and asking online is wasting everyone's time. If you want support for the shape of the bottom of your foot, you get inserts from a podiatrist or a foot store and use those in XXX shoes. You are conclusion shopping which is the worst kind of shopping. ASK YOUR QUESTION or better yet, use the search engine. Without knowing any real metrics, I'd say Adidas Sambas or Nike AF1.

I Just Got My Most Insane Nike Outlet Find Ever! $500 ACG Goretex Jacket For $83. The Quality Is Fantastic.
ACG (All Conditions Gear) is Nike’s “top of the line” outdoor gear brand. Basically it’s just a really good quality Goretex jacket that’s also somewhat stylish since it’s still Nike. It genuinely is good quality though. I can say this jacket feels like the competition that is also charging $500 (North Face, Arc’teryx, Helly Hansen, OR, etc). Do I think it’s worth $500…. No. But I also don’t think any of its competition brands are worth $500 either 😅. Which is why I’m so happy I got it for $83!

They last for a number of years depending on how intensely you’re using the garment. But the DWR “Durable Water Repellent” as Goretex likes to call it can be reapplied to restore the water repellency back to factory. The materials of this jacket are really great quality. So I expect this jacket to be very BIFL.

this is a quality jacket! but is almost certainly not BIFL. due to how the materials deteriorate under normal use conditions. I’m in apparel and this runs true to our industry as well. When purchasing a mid-lower priced brand, I do tend to lean towards one that produces higher end products. For instance, I’ll order moisture-wicking shirts from a company that produces their garments in the same mill as Nike’s dri-fits.

You're basically standing on an inch of air bubble. These are made for security work 100% they are not combat boots or tactical. They are all leather very sturdy and feel like tennis shoes. I stood on marble floors, concrete, gravel, in winter and summer these things also make you 2 inches taller and more intimidating in height. I'm 6'3 with these boots on I'm 6'5.

My brother wants me to start golfing since he picked it up. I don’t have much interest in it, but hey it’s something we can do together. He spent ~$300~ on a full set of clubs from marketplace. Decent deal. Probably paid a little under used market value. I however have gotten: An Ogio bag A hodge podge of irons wedges woods and hybrids. All being Taylormade Cleveland Nike Mizuno and the lone Wilson Ultra lol A no name putter that I got because it’s a mallet style putter but it’s lime green, so I look like I’m going on the PGA putt putt tour And last but not least my drivers King Cobra L4V 10 degree and Callaway Warbird Ruger Titanium 10 degree Clubs + Bag I’m all in $45-55 after tax by thrifting them. Help finding total foot comfort shoes or boots.
1. There is no such thing as wide feet as that is a term with no value. 2. Women's Brannock Device: https://tristaterunning.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/womens-brannock.pdf Find your actual shoe size and write this down. So many people think that since they were a 10 in high school they are a 10 at 32. When you find out your actual shoe is a 9D, then use an online calculator to find your men's size as this opens the aperture. Proper sizing should help with apparent comfort. Notice the word apparent? 0 people can help you with this metric as its personal and akin to me telling you where the best tacos are or the best movie of 2024 is. BIFL shoes are based on construction or natural hardiness and are as follows: 1. Sneakers. Margom sole sneakers which google will show you. Allen Edmonds sneakers. Both are repairble by a cobbler. Adidas Sambas and Nike AF1 are natively hardy. 2. Casual/dress. Any Goodyear welted shoe/boot or if you see the word recraftable in the description. These can be repaired by a cobbler. Clarks Bushacre II are natively hardy. As to comfort, you might need to get off the wallet for legit custom orthotics. These can be had via a podiatrist and may be mitigated with insurance or you can go to a foot specialist store and pay for them outright. Those are your paths for BIFL and comfort.

What brands do you trust to always deliver a high quality product?
I feel one reason for deteriorating quality is the market need to keep prices relatively stable. I’ve been buying the same cable every couple years from Anker. The prices haven’t moved much but the quality has shifted. And that’s fair. 10 bucks in 2010 were very different from 10 bucks now. If they keep quality, the prices won’t be affordable. So I get it. That said: I’ll caveat my answer by saying here’s the brands that do high enough quality for the price they charge. Anker. Nike for socks. Uniqlo for their basic cotton T’s. MacBooks. Yeti.

Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?
It's ok to have sports sneakers like Hoka, Nike, etc if you're going to walk a lot. Want to be more European? Go Adidas, Puma or On. But if the "average" American tourist wants to go unnoticed in Europe then better also change clothes to European style (buy them there though). To be honest you're going to end up in touristic areas anyway so you'll be noticed anyway. And in those touristic areas just don't give to beggars, don't sign any paper in the street, beware roms, scammers, watch your pockets, etc. Touristic areas are not like the real life areas. And that's also valid for local tourists.

Winter joggers for women
I have 2 pairs of Nikes that I've had for many years: one is a lightweight underlayer and the other is thick, fleece-lined with zippers at the ankles. The zippers are important because those pants are thicker and have less give, so getting your foot through them can be tough. They are both great, but I dint wear them together. The underlayer is good under shorts when it's cool or loose pants when it's cold. The lined ones are good on their own when it's cold, or under snow bibs. (Socks, then pants, then boots, then snow bibs... ain't no way the cold air is getting to those legs!)

BIFL 2024 Holiday Gift Ideas Thread! - Gifts for men!
Not sure what kind of fashion he’s into, but if he collects sneakers, the Nike Jordans are pretty cool. Anyone at a store that sells them would give a good recommendation. A Pendleton blanket might be up his alley. Or something from Norrona if he is the Boulder/outdoorsy type. If he likes fishing, he could probably use a good lure or a kayak. If he is somewhere that has a pool, my younger cousin got this blow up float that you can play beer pong on that he LOVES. Or you could go the “you need this appliance route.” An Eufy robot vacuum would run a little over $100 on Amazon and was my 21 stepdaughter’s favorite gift this year. Some nice knives could also be a winner or a really soft plush throw blanket.
