Does anyone know of a jacket this general style that you can still buy these days that is tough as hell?
Check out the Noah Mechanics Jacket or the Ben Davis mechanic jacket. Quaker Marine Supply Co. Brighton Jacket is wool but similar style. The Orvis weather breaker is a step up from lands end. Close but similar is the Dehen pilot jacket but there is only blue right now.

Any really good merino gloves out there ?
I got a pair from Noah a few years ago. However I suffer from having gigantor hands so gloves don't fit me without me slicing the fingertips off. They are very warm and quite well made if you have average size hands though
