Good leather ankle boot for hiking/snow/rain?

Winter in Montreal - hiking and more
Oboz 8" bridgers. I work in Antarctica and they are my go to for hiking down here. I wouldn't call them stylish, but they aren't ugly like my Baffins. The 400g insulation is a good mix of warmth without being to much.

Womens winter boots that are warm!!
Oboz Bridger GTX boots are very warm, fit well, and have great support. I hate boots that are not well fitting and make it hard to walk in so these are not that. They were warm enough a few years back to stand in the snow all day at an event in Minnesota.

That sucks to hear, as they were one of the best. Scarpa and Lowa are two other great brands of hiking boots. I'd also check out Oboz - I've been very happy with mine.

What’s one item you bought that way outperformed its price?
Thorogood Moc Toe boots, both in steel toe and non-steel toe. I wear the steel toes multiple times a week going to manufacturing facilities/plants for work. Some are really dirty. I went through two pairs of cheap steel toes when I started, bought these back in 2018, and despite being dirty they’re still in great shape. Highly recommend. Oboz hiking boots. Didn’t hike a ton when I got them, and was worried I’d over paid. Now, I’ve been to Arches, Canyonlands, Joshua Tree, the Rockies, several trails in Asheville and around Seattle/Leavenworth, and a ton of local trails around me in the South. I hit one trail about twice a month on average. Put countless miles on them, and they’re still in excellent shape, and super comfortable.

Real textiles and quality-price is disappearing...
If you want shoes, check out Oboz. They last forever, are extremely comfortable (even for problem feet like mine) and work for hiking or pavement. They are hiking type shoes of course. Made in the US. They are my favorite purchase of the last five years.

Best hiking boots for men - Suggestions needed.
My favorites are Vasque and Oboz. Have gone through many pairs of Keen, Merrel, Soloman, North Face etc over the years. Every pair of Keen boots that I have owned has fallen apart faster than any other brand. It’s a shame because I like the fit of Keen. Vasque is going or has gone out of production but this means you can find some great deals on their boots right now.

Shoes for standing and walking at work
I pulled up a pair and noticed the toe box looking nice and roomie. I'm used to wearing adidas with a slimmer toe box. I started wearing these Oboz Bozeman and the cushion and added space for the toes just feel so good!!! But I'm already starting to wear them out. Looks like I need to find a store near me that sells ortho's and try some on. Thanks for the tip

Ladies, what are the MOST comfortable boots you’ve worn for walking 10k+ steps a day?
Oboz. They're not quite BIFL, but I hiked 10 hours a day in them for two full field seasons before they gave out, and they fit my foot in a way that my toes never slid forward in the shoe, which has always been my pet peeve with boots. Great arch support, but not orthopedic strong.

Oboz are supposedly some of the longer lasting hiking boots nowadays. I got 2 years out of my last pair of sawtooths, and for me that's pretty good for hiking boots - I hike a lot and am rough on my shoes in general That being said, I'd recommend either switching shoes between activities if that 12k isn't all in one walk (ie, 2k around town commuting and then a 3 mile walk for pleasure later, wear blundstones to and from work then switch to hiking boots or trail runners) - or if it's regular daily hiking, buy 2 pairs and rotate day to day, shoes last longer if they can fully dry, or so I'm told / so it seems in my experience In the summer, I mostly wear tevas for real hiking and choring, and birkenstocks for casual walking around town / flat walks like rail trails, and gentle tasks harvesting on the farm

I love my Oboz Bozeman low’s. I wear them for my job which involves a lot of walking, probably put about 3 million steps in before I grab a new pair, on my 4th now. I use a she horn to avoid wearing out the heal which is what goes first, otherwise they are amazing. Didn’t do an extremely thorough search before choosing these several years ago, so there could be something better.

Break in a pair of shoes before you go. For god's sake, you can't hide your identity. As soon as you open your mouth they'll know. I like Oboz. I wear them every where. Expensive but worth it. They really last.
