Best suitcases that will last with 130+L in capacity?
I’ve had two Ogio Rig 9800 for over 5 years and fly 30+ times a year.

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
Ogio Renegade backpack I bought in 2012. I travelled the World with this backpack. I worked in a cruise ship for 5 years and this backpack took all kinda of stress while I visited 80+ countries. I hiked 20 countries with this backpack. I moved cities with this backpack almost exploding full and the backpack is still looking like new. Not a single scratch. All zippers working like new. There a RSS laptop compartment that is like a hard shell inside and it can take falls from the third floor without causing any damage to what is inside this compartment. It is definitely the best backpack I’ve ever had and it seem it will be useful for the next decade.

Didn’t realize how attached I was to my old backpack until it finally started falling apart
I have an older model similar to this Ogio backpack I have been using nearly daily for 15 years. I have used it to carry heavy tools and just about anything you can imagine. When it finally fails I'll be looking for a new Ogio. https://www.ogio.com/backpacks/ogio-backpack-2022-gambit-pro.html?pid=spr5543710

Backpack suggestions?
If you dont mind paying for their Ogio has serviced my traveling and work needs with their back pack. Have had many years and shows little signs of wear and tear, and I am pretty rough on it by jamming it under airplane seats and putting heavy laptops in it.

Backpack suggestions?
If you’re using it for school, Swissgear makes affordable, versatile backpacks with a lot of pockets for one thing or the next. I had one that lasted me 10 years before starting to rip. Ogio makes really good backpacks for office and school too. Mines lasted 5 years so far with a good amount of abuse and weight. But I find their stuff to be more expensive. There are plenty of other options that make more specialized backpacks. Outdoor/travel brands: osprey, north face, Cotopaxi. Travel specific: aer, tortuga, matador, evergoods,: the list goes on. I find these aesthetic but I think I would have preferred the extra pockets and all where I find these other brands make really nice bags for large compartments with some organization pockets that might be good for minimal use of office supplies and more packing space. Some of the smaller commuter backpacks might be good to use for school. But I still love my Ogio renegade for standard use with way too many pockets. I have a glasses case on top for my safety glasses. Two zip pockets on each side for everyday carry stuff. Water bottle pockets. One of the water bottle pockets holds zip ties and twisty ties. Laptop and folders of course. Main pocket holds all my bulky stuff. Two secondary pockets: one holds all my Office supplies. The other holds flatter objects that I need separated from everything else for one reason or the next. Unfortunately this is padded which you don’t like.

OGIO Bandit Backpacks are expensive but they are well built and last a very long time. I have one that is almost 15 years old.

BIFL Backpack: Patagonia Refugio 30l (vs others)
Ogio renegade pro has been great, tons of pockets and organizations and a neoprene strap that suspends laptops from hutting the ground when the bag is dropped. The hard glasses case is a neat feature I didnt know I needed. At one year it looks new where my Swiss tech and carhartt bags fell apart.

The Best Backpacks for Travel Available Now?
Can't overstate how rugged Ogio is. Thick canvas and massive zippers (plus lots of pockets)

What is your most unintentional BIFL item?
My Ogio backpack. Bought it for a trip in 2016 and it's been my everyday bag since then. Still amazes me that there isn't a single hole or tear inside or out.

ThisTumi bag was stupid expensive but it's seen a dozen countries and been kicking ass for 11 years.
10 years is not impressive for a backpack. Why does this sub think otherwise? Both the ogio (nice) and Nike backpacks (comparatively cheap) that I got as corporate swag have lasted over 10 years and look new. I still have the jansport backpack I got for middle school 25 years ago and that one looks pretty worn but still works as a backspace. There's zero durability related reason to pay $$$ for a backpack. If you’re paying $$$ for a backpack it’s a status symbol and a fashion statement.

Another shout out to Ogio. Not the sleekest looking, but they survive.

I've been using my OGIO for over a decade now daily, and on trips. Still looks brand new. Fraction of the cost of a tumi, would highly recommend as BIFL.

Requests - Ogio Pace Pro 25
Researching your bag to replace a failed zipper 3 years later on a Ogio Axle. Best backpack ever, and after 3 years they replaced that $99 bag with your $200 bag, free of charge. Dealing with customer service was surreal and a dream... nice, friendly, smart, helpful, kind people. =) This is the best company, but now I'm curious if this specific bag will fit my 17" and slide under an airline seat. Does the bag fit under seats on planes or only overhead?

Thinking of retiring my Ogio Renegade laptop backpack. Any suggestions?
I just had a $99 17" backup fail on a zipper. The thing is 3 years old... they bought a brand new one worth $70 more, as per the warranty. I am into a Renegade RSS because of the 17" and they had one other that wouldn't fit under airline seats, the Pace Pro Max. It's STUNNING and a onebag forever, but it's just slightly too large for normal short haul trips, or if you want your laptop under the seat vs bin above you while flying. Really impressed with this company, and my first round I researched for EVER for this 17"... I think you should look at a new Renegade RSS or the Pace Pro, because OGIO IS AMAZING. But what did you get in the end?

BIFL, but also BISecondhand. What are some things that everyone should keep an eye out for, but can commonly be found for cheap when preowned.
My brother wants me to start golfing since he picked it up. I don’t have much interest in it, but hey it’s something we can do together. He spent ~$300~ on a full set of clubs from marketplace. Decent deal. Probably paid a little under used market value. I however have gotten: An Ogio bag A hodge podge of irons wedges woods and hybrids. All being Taylormade Cleveland Nike Mizuno and the lone Wilson Ultra lol A no name putter that I got because it’s a mallet style putter but it’s lime green, so I look like I’m going on the PGA putt putt tour And last but not least my drivers King Cobra L4V 10 degree and Callaway Warbird Ruger Titanium 10 degree Clubs + Bag I’m all in $45-55 after tax by thrifting them. And $25 of it was for a a set of clubs I bought at goodwill. It was an older no name brand full set, BUT that’s where I got the Taylormade from. Lol So I’ll sell the complete set and boom. Free Taylormade.

Thoughts on the Osprey Flare 27? It seems to have most of the features I want but would love to know your guys' experience. I'm looking to use this backpack daily for college for the next 5 or so years, at least.
I have an Ogio that I’ve always loved. The current model is comparable to it is the surge or renegade. The hard case pocket at the top is what sold me after another bag resulted in me crushing a pair of expensive glasses I had got as a present. It’s light weight and can be collapsed into a small pack or expanded and filled with clothes for a weekend trip. 15+ years as a school bag, 100+ flights, now daily hauler of my laptop, headset, headphones and my mouse is always in that hard case pocket.
