What are the Best olukai for comfort that is not ohana
The Tuahines are solid, I've had mine for like 3 years now and they're still going strong even with daily wear

What are the Best olukai for comfort that is not ohana
Not sure about the men's version but I've had a pair of the women's Honu for years and they are super comfortable and durable. Still look good even though they've gotten wet at the beach many times.

What are the Best olukai for comfort that is not ohana
If you're not limiting yourself to the rubber ones, I have the Tuahine style and have loved them. I also wear sandals year round and they've held up significantly better than my old rainbows did.

most comfortable/ softest house slippers?
I have the slides which I used to wear as slippers but started wearing outside too, I hate sandals but these are great to walk in. And I have a pair of slippers that aren't currently available but are similar to this: https://olukai.ca/products/hale-mule-womens-slippers-lava-rock-tapa

Best Flip Flops for Men – any that look good AND are comfortable?
Just the brown basic leather men’s flip flops. No clue if it’s still happening but would never put a pair of those on my feet again. Just look up “rash from rainbow flip flops” and you’ll see tons of people posting on Reddit, Tik tok, etc. Switched to olukai’s and never going back! Way more comfortable and durable.

Are olukai's worth the hype? Do they need to be broken in?
I have a pair of Ohana’s and love them. Initially I had to adjust since I was used to a pair of Scott’s I had. The different Olukai sandals have different feels depending on the model. The Ohana footbed is not cushy but does give a little and has some tackiness. The website has fit and cleaning instructions. This helps in deciding what type of arch you should look for depending on your arch. In the past I have had a couple pairs of Scott’s. One had a good arch but the other had a different shape and I did not wear them much. I could never find the model that had the good arch support so I tried these. I do have a pair of Scott’s also but usually gravitate to the Ohana’s if I am going to be walking a lot.

Olukai slipper insoles
9 months late, but you can order the insoles from their website. Now, in the past, you had to sign up and be a "member", which was nothing more than signing up with said email address. I'm basically addicted to the relaxed shoe insole and wear it everything (Jim Green boots, etc) [Men's Relaxed Insole - Tan | OluKai](https://olukai.com/products/mens-relaxed-insole-replacement) But the other insoles come up by searching for "insole" [Search: 32 results found for "insole" – OluKai](https://olukai.com/search?q=insole) Hope this helps, months later

Reef Flip-Flops aren't even "Buy It For Now"
Gf got me a new reef every year. They were basically a sponge wrapped in a thin plastic like Saran Wrap. When I’d walk next to the ocean they would absorb water and the sponge would fill. Sloshing around for days. I did some research and got a pair of Olukai. They are so soft yet sturdy. Two years have passed and they still look and feel new. I wear them everywhere. I’m never wearing a plastic flip flop again.

Reef Flip-Flops aren't even "Buy It For Now"
Loved Reefs for years until my last pair broke a little over a year in. To be fair I wore the hell out of em. Decided to try the Olukai for my next pair and they destroy the Reefs in almost every way. Holding up like a champ! Rainbows lasted fine but don’t have nearly the comfort I had with Reef and Olukai

Reef Flip-Flops aren't even "Buy It For Now"
I live near beach towns and I buy **Reefs** from the local surf shops. It's a bit of a tradition. They cost between $65 and $80 and last me around 3 to 4 years. For me, Reefs aren't "buy it for life" items, and I never expected them to be. I don't wear the same pair all the time; I alternate with different brands. I'm going on my second year with a few pairs from '**OluKai**' (Hawaii), and so far, so good. Very comfortable. Your Amazon link shows Reefs for $39. Is that an official or authorized Reefs reseller?

What's are home office purchases you've made that have more than paid for themselves?
I've done the same - Olakai slippers for in the house, then Olakai slides for stepping out for the mail, letting the dogs out, etc. My feet feel much better just having that level of support and the Olakai shoes definitely fall into the BIFL category.
View on Redditopen_in_new - #27Jun 13, 2025
Current BIFL sandal recommendations?
UluKai Hiapo sandals. They took awhile to break in but it was worth it. They are leather flip flops with hard rubber soles and I've had them at least 4 years but I'm pretty sure I bought them pre COVID. I use them every day after work. Worth every cent. I didn't live on the beach either, South Texas brush country.

In Florida from Scotland right now, is there anything practical that I can pick up whilst here?
- Tommy Bahamas for Hawaiian shirts - Olukai flip flops - Yeti water bottles - I know they’re available in UK but generally cheaper in US - Go to Ace hardware and spend some time browsing, they tend to have some interesting BIFL type stuff - I saw someone mention gator skin cowboy boots, which would be good, but you might get more use out of a decent leather belt, usually plenty places in US that do those

Items that made your life so much easier/saved time?
- Instapot (15 years old, use it 5+ times a week) - olukai flip flops (10 years old and counting) - Merrill rain jacket (18 years old!!) - 100% cotton quilts (I have multiple, ranging in age from 5-20 years old) - kindle e-reader. I recently upgraded but I still have my 1st one and it’s working well at 10 years - le cruset cookware - stainless steel pots and pans - copper kettle

I literally live in my flip-flops; what brand is genuinely odor-proof, even after being put through the paces (so to speak)?
I wear olukai, had the same flip flops for 5-6 years, the soles have been replaced once, and they are still going strong. I got them when I started lifeguarding outdoors high school, wearing them in the Colorado summer sun. Now I wear them, in the summer or to and from the climbing gym. I only had an odor issue with them once in high school, and anti bacterial spray did the trick. I know they don’t/didn’t smell because my family, friends and girlfriend all are very outspoken and will tell me what’s up.

I literally live in my flip-flops; what brand is genuinely odor-proof, even after being put through the paces (so to speak)?
Honestly man, nothing’s truly stink-proof if you’re in them 24/7, but i’ve had decent luck with Olukai and Xero shoes. smoother footbeds help less gunk buildup. Also, rotating pairs is clutch. even the best ones need time to breathe. You tried doing that?

I literally live in my flip-flops; what brand is genuinely odor-proof, even after being put through the paces (so to speak)?
For serious odor resistance, olukai and oofos are your best bets, especially with their moisture wicking materials. crocs also hold up well with their croslite foam even with heavy daily use.

Searching for a Great Pair of Flip Flops - Reefs?
Flip flops are my shoe-type of choice. Reefs are decent. I have owned a pair of Scott Hawaii flip flops since 2020. They were about $35 and are still my go-to shoe when I am forced to wear them. Haven't looked to see how much they cost now. Olukai are pretty good too. Rainbow also last well.

Searching for a Great Pair of Flip Flops - Reefs?
Live in Hawaii where we take these things seriously. Personally, been on an Island Slipper kick. They are made in Oahu and are seriously comfortable. Bit over $100, but there are tons of promos and discounts. Be careful about signing up for emails as they are way too aggressive and had to unsubscribe. Olukai has their partisans, but don’t dig how much the empathize the Hawaii thang while being made in China. Rainbows are pretty damn durable as well.

Can the synthetic lining of the sole of sandals be repaired?
I went to a shoe repair place last year with the same problem and it was cheaper to buy a new pair of the same sandals than it was to fix the old ones. I have Olukai Ohana sandals and absolutely love them!

Request: mens' indoor/occasional quick outdoor slippers that are warm and good at wicking moisture (and aren't LL Bean Wicked Good)
I absolutely love mine. Except I wore them so much my insoles are toast and Olukai has not restocked the slipper insoles in over 4 months! So they are collecting dust until then which is annoying. I’ll probably buy like 3/4 pairs to keep in the closet when they come back. Should last me 10/15 years then lol

Good slippers for hot feet
Just got my husband his 2nd pair of Olukai slippers. We’d consider the 1st pair BIFL, but he wore them so much & his feet got so hot that they stunk pretty bad so we sadly tossed them. 1st pair was leather (Moloa), new ones are quilted cotton (Mahana). He really likes them - the hard soles make them acceptable for a quick trip outside or to drive in, the drop-in heel is awesome (he had ACL surgery last year), and the quality, stitching, etc is too notch. We definitely recommend Olukai!
