  Best wide shoes for heavy folks (8+ hours standing)

  You could take a look at brands generally recommended by people in occupations that hve a lot of standing or walking - nurses, chefs. etc One of these is Dansko and another is Allegria (women) Dansko comes in W and has a lot of designs. They started out and built a reputation as a supportive clog for nurses over many years. But now I notice they have a lot of other designs. I think most , if not all, of their shoes have good arch support for standing and being on your feet. The model I wear of theirs is not the one they are most known for - its their EVA clog but I've used it for three years now (one pair) and it has good support (with a built in removable orthotic too) and is holding up great. You could check out the reviews on amazon to see what you think. There are also other brands that are recommended by nurses, I think if you search for Dansko the rest will come up. Another one for support would be Oofos. Its a recovery shoe/sandal, and their covered recovery sandal is supportive but also very soft and comfy. I don't know if its something you can wear for your situation, but they also have shoes. I think (?) it is unisex so it would not be narrow, but probably something to research if you need a wide toe box. For standing long hours, the key thing that is also important is how supportive the shoe is (stuff like distributing weight evenly, support the arches, etc) and whether it supports your foot so this is a general category you might want to research, if you want to venture out of sneakers.

  I’m really surprised to hear you say that. Oofos themselves says to replace every 6 months, which is crazy given the price, but they get absolutely worn for me after a year of house slipper use. Im not super heavy either, the foam is just not very durable. I’m on my fifth pair but it’s still worth it IMO.

  I do not consider any shoes BIFL. I’ve got foot issues, and really only got one set of those so I need to take care of them. The reality is that even good shoes wear out, and trying to wear them past their exportation date is only going to cause me more issues in the long run. I will say that with foam-y shoes like oofos or hoka slides, they’ll last way longer if you get two pairs and switch between them.

  Living in rural Hawaii, I wear nothing but slippers (sandals). I must have 20+ pairs from various brands, both expensive and dollar store variety (locals). When one of my cheap pairs broke one day while at a remote resort, the only option available at the gift shop were these very expensive and quite ugly Oofos original sandals. I begrudgingly bought them, having no other option. 3 years later, these are my go to slippers any time I step outside. I walk 2+ miles a day with them on rough gravel roads with my dogs. I’ve taken them on 5+ mile hikes and had others on the trail give me wild looks. They are incredibly comfortable and have yet to break. Not the “indoor use” you were looking for, but these are far and away the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever worn. Only 2 downsides: 1. They are absolutely hideous, and I’d never wear them as part of a ‘nice’ outfit. 2. If the surface gets wet, your foot will slide in them easily. Had some close calls walking along jagged rocks with wet feet.

  I haven’t used their sneakers. I still use “proper” running shoes (Brooks), mostly because I haven’t read any analysis of whether Oofos sneakers are actually good for running. I’m sure they’re fine for just walking around, but I just use my Oofos sandals for that, and in the winter my Oofos boots.

  This style is the ugliest, but the best in my opinion: https://www.oofos.com/products/womens-ooahh-sport-flex-black-matte 1) I prefer slides to thongs for Oofos because the bit that goes between your toes in the thongs is a little uncomfortable 2) I prefer these slides to their others because they’re a little roomier for the top of your foot

  I’ve got RA with tendon involvement in my feet. Have both OOFOS and Hoka recovery slides. My preference changes with what’s going on with my feet. But those are the two I’d try first.

  Those exist under plenty of brands. There's also a few proprietary ones with their own foam. Either spend $60 on Oofos which will be probably the most comfortable overall or spend $8 on the ones from Primark which are still plenty comfortable.

  I know this is an old post, but I also have PF and I tried dozens of wide-toe box shoes and slippers and finally realized that things are better and even wide-toe box my little toe was cramming into the last strap of slides and sandals like Birkenstocks due also to my pronation. Thus more issues. So I found Oofas thongs. They have helped me so much in one month! And it’s cold where I live all year long basically in Northern Calif, so I bought toe socks and wear them with them and it’s great!

  Have you tried Oofos Recovery Clogs? A nurse friend advised me to get them for my fallen arch/fasciitis. They have been amazing. I have concrete floors in my house and I've been wearing these when at home, for at least three years.

  I wear Oofos. Mine never smell and I am able to walk a good distance in them without pain. However, they are slippery when wet. Especially problematic on an incline in the rain. They still are my favorite tho

  For serious odor resistance, olukai and oofos are your best bets, especially with their moisture wicking materials. crocs also hold up well with their croslite foam even with heavy daily use.

  I know this post is old but I can now confirm oofos are great. I do love them. Had a pair of slides and a pair of flip flops. However, they do not last long. Within a year the shape had deformed and I had holes through the soles. From wearing them only indoors. I did wear them all the time. Will only buy a new pair on special.

  Help finding total foot comfort shoes or boots.

  I have a few pairs of OOFOS, including slip-on loafers and flip flops. They are “recovery shoes” made for post-marathon feet, with lots of padding on the bottom and no pressure spots above. They are miraculous.

  Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?

  On clouds and hokas are awesome. I use to swear by all birds but they changed their manufacturing a few years ago and I have not bought a pair since. Just terrible. No sure is truly buy it for life. Another suggestion is oofos recovery slides. I ran a half marathon and walked Disney in those after.

  Low/moderate arch support: Sanuk You Got My Back II. I have a pair that I've been wearing for 2 years and they're still solid. High arch support: Oofos slippers. I wear Oofos sandals most of the year and I'm still on my first pair 4 years later. I just got the Thermo mules but the OOcoozie Sport mules look better for venting. They're expensive but if they're anything like the sandals then they'll last and be super comfortable.
