  Dentist here: Here’s the simple playbook for great oral health that I tell all of my patients. To avoid cavities and maintain healthy bones and gums: 1. Brush with an electric toothbrush twice daily 2. Floss at least once per day, but ALWAYS before you brush at night. 3. Visit your dentist for routine cleanings (twice per year is usually plenty for those with healthy mouths) 4. Be mindful of sugar intake - the more time that sugar and acid stay on the teeth the more damage that occurs. 5. No food or drink, except for water, after evening routine Any electric toothbrush that plugs into the wall for charging is great. Just like with toothpaste, there is a lot of marketing to entice buyers. OralB and Sonicare are the most trusted brands. These brushes are efficient, powerful, and VERY WORTH IT! Most bells and whistles are unnecessary, though a pressure sensor is a great feature to ensure you don’t irritate gums and root surfaces. There are great options for $30-40. I tell my patients that I don’t care what brand they use or where they get it. as long as they are using an electric brush. ***We know it’s boring, but it matters…only floss the teeth you want to keep!

  Definitely worth it. I’ve had an OralB for 15 years now and it’s still going strong. Way better than just a manual toothbrush.

  Best Electric Toothbrush To Buy 2025?

  I’ve had 4 Sonicare units over the years - the first 2 being the same model (entry level with the screw on head and the last 2 were 4100). The first entry level one failed due to my fault (plugged into travel adapter at 50Hz instead of 60Hz - Charger died, battery no longer charged properly). Second one was replaced because the discontinued heads started to get expensive and harder to find. The first 4100 stepped catching after 5-6 years. My last Sonicare never felt right (it was a Philips Sonicare this time), looked the same but was not as powerful (wife has a non-Philips Sonicare for comparison) - so that got retired in favor of the OralB iO6. I was researching for a few weeks and the pink iO6 went on sale under my budget of $100 so I grabbed that. The iO6 is way more powerful than any of the Sonicares I’ve owned. I’ve been really happy with it but the heads can get pricey (you can get discount codes and such, signing up for the texts). The battery life is great and I do like the ability to change the “strength” of the brushing. The toothbrush itself does have a bit of a large head, I feel, but not massive. And, with the head unmounted, the head will not ‘stand’ by itself (has to be laid down). Another thing to note is the iO6 is a bit heavier than the Sonicares I’ve owned. Lastly, Sonicare has a built in timer that turns off after 2 minutes. The iO6 has a timer that just keeps going. There are other features of the iO6 I simply don’t use and probably could’ve gotten a lower model but I’m happy with what I got.
