  What brands/products do you AVOID because of their poor longevity?

  Tbh with you I find myself buying from less different brands thanks to the ecosystem nowadays. Most of my tech: Apple. Drinkware: Owala, Brumate, Fellow & Snowfox. Houseware: SimpleHuman etc. Some of them are more expensive but at the very least I know I'm getting quality and not having to replace things early. But I'm more of a "buy it for 10 years" than life kind of consumer.

  Nalgene when on the trail. Owala for everything else including travel. I’ve used them for years now and they just keep taking abuse. Easy to clean and repair. And yes. They get moldy. You must clean them. But it’s easy to clean the parts.

I am someone who likes to sip and chug water that's 90% ice so when I saw it first 5-6 years ago in a friends car I was SO EXCITED to see someone make my dream so functional rather than me settling for a spout I would pour all over myself at night. At the time they weren't in every store, so when I finally saw them I'm target in 2022 I bought it and have only gotten more because my fiance stole my original one.

  I operate on a 7 year upgrade cycle for most things. Had my 3 Owala water bottles for a year come January after upgrading from my generic Takeya water bottles I had since early 2018. They're amazing. I don't see how anything can be improved. The Apple of water bottles for sure. I see alot of comments mentioning Nalgene but I cut out plastic whenever possible. Stainless steel is definitely the way to go.

  We used Nalgenes for decades and still do for camping. I wanted to get away from plastic and wanted an insulated option, so switched to the Thermo flasks from Costco. We've had a couple sets in rotation for years now. When working out, I find I need a controlled flow mouthpiece as I sometimes aspirate water, which always results in an instant asthma attack when it happens. So I picked up an Owala this spring after my daughter got one as a gift. I really appreciate the mouthpiece design and it's solved my aspiration issue, so it's become my primary bottle.

  I have a lot of water bottles that I find for free around my uni. (they've been there for a week or more when I take them, I'm not snatching them as soon as someone leaves the room) Favourites thus far are 1. **Owala**, I have a insulated and non-insulated one, they rock, the straw really works for me. Had for 3 years now and they are glorious. It kept ice for 48hrs. Only thing is it's a bit hard to clean and remove mould from. **8/10** 2. **Random plastic cup** with lid and straw that reads "INSTALL smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and check every month". Ride or die. Comes with me everywhere. not even remotely leakproof. Had for 8 years and I would die for her. **9/10** 3. **Nalgene**. 'Nuff said. Sturdy, reliable, covered in stickers. Had since middle school. Easy to clean, easy to forget to clean and accidentally drink mould for months. **7/10** 4. **Hydroflask**. I use it for tea, its great and leakproof but the one that I have it TOO insulated and I can't ever drink my tea because it's too hot. Doesn't get much use, had for 7 years. **5/10**

  I love my Owalla water bottle. I can sip thru the straw or tilt the bottle to drink. It's insulated and keeps the water cold, and it's easy to clean. It fell off the roof of the car and dented the stainless steel (colour remained intact) and the lid came off, but I was able to get it back in place thanks to a YouTube video.

  My 40oz Hydroflask is about ten years old. I use it with a "Wide Flex Chug Cap" when mobile so I can drink out of it without spilling [in the car]. I use the standard top for air travel because it reduces the height by an inch or so. I use a 30oz Yeti Rambler around the house as my water/tea glass. My whole family has older (~8-10yr) Kleen Kanteen 20oz bottles with a sort of sippy lid they don't make anymore that we use for hot tea/coffee when hiking/camping/sports. The only bottles we've purchased recently are smaller Rambler tumblers for my wife & daughters and a large Rambler tumbler with handle for my son, and my older daughter has been using an Owala bottle as her daily (that she received as a birthday present from a school friend). I see no reason any of these bottles won't last arbitrarily long assuming none are physically destroyed. Overall, we're very happy with both Hydroflask & Yeti (and Owala if you like straw bottles) -- both are a cut above Kleen Kanteen in quality.

  Just over 10 years on the original hydroflask design (with attached wide mouth lid) and the only 'flaws' are few dents from dripping over the years - and it's hand-wash only I've only recently been using my Owala because I love the straw/lid feature so much. I keep my hydro as a backup or for long trips and my Owala will likely be the new daily for however long it lasts!

  My Owala is my favorite daily water bottle. I love the lid pour/straw top, and that the bottle is insulated. It doesn't leak if I close the lid, and I can lock the lid if I'm throwing it in a bag. It fits in cupholders, too. I still use my camelbak with a straw top as my bedside water, though. I don't care about the temperature of that, and it just never leaks, even if I'm half asleep and drinking from it at a weird angle.

  I’ve tried a bunch of big brand ones, hydroflask Stanley yeti brumate etc. Owala for me has actually been sturdier (I broke four hydroflasks before I gave up), easier to clean (no nooks, crannies, or hard to reach ridges), easiest to carry (I have the sway, so the handle just flips up and I can fit my whole hand thru it if I need my fingers), and fits in cup holders at my preferred 40 oz size. I also don’t have to pick between straw or sip, which I didn’t actually realize when purchasing it lol.

  I love my owalas. They are very easy to clean and as a very spill prone person (I am a klutz) they are the best. My husband and I picked up a two pack of the Ello brand because they were on sale for him.. now I know why they were on sale. They’re a nightmare to actually keep clean because of all the gaskets. Owala really nailed the ability to sip from a straw but keeping it clean. Other large bottles like the classic Stanley with the straw are not practical to carry around at all. Owala is. Fits in my bottle pocket easy and seals. Out of all the water bottle hype and trendy stuff, I don’t think I’ll ever need others than my owalas.

  You can pry my original Owala FreeSip from my cold, dead hands. It has everything I need. Handle, stays cold, fits where I need, zero leaking, straw and sip option, easy to clean, dishwasher fine (they say no, I’ve had no issue and always run it through), and have had mine for at least 5 years now. I’ve never even looked at another water bottle since I found it. Hell, I never really had a water bottle before it because none worked well for me.

  i have a hydroflask i got back in like, 2020/2021 i think, and then i have an owala straw tumbler my husband got me this year. i prefer the hydroflask for like, theme parks and other places where it’s just thrown in a bag all day. I use the owala for shopping trips and stuff since it’s easier to drink from. i do have a problem with iced coffee cups tho i will admit 😅

The only thing that really sets it apart from other water bottles is the ability to choose between sipping through a straw and just straight gulping it down. Love that, cause I like using the straw most of the time, but when I take a pill I have to use the other opening.

  Through various needs and gifts, I have acquired RTIC, Yeti, Hydroflask, Nalgene, Owala, and Hydrojug. Honestly all have been great. They each have their pros, design wise. I kind of avoid the Nalgene now because of microplastics, but keep it due to the memories with it. I’d say Hydroflask does straw top best, Yeti does chug cap best, RTIC is a ‘cheaper’ brand that works just as well, and the Owala is great because it’s both chug and straw, both completely covered by the secure cap. I have the Hydrojug stainless shaker and it has seemed to show its beatings the most. I’d say purchase based on cap style and color you like the most, I think most of these brands will last a very long time.

  In college, a Nalgene. For my first “big kid” job, I had one those amazingly annoying light up Bluetooth bottles. I appreciated the reminders and the fluid intake tracking. Others at work were distracted by the sudden flashing. Now? I have a free Simple Modern tumbler from a work trip with hot/cold lids and straws. I lost my one Owala somewhere in the house - I love that one for throwing it in a bag and rolling out of the house. My true ride or die though? 1/2 gallon Stanley jug with the flip straw. Makes a great growler too. 🍺 tl;dr: I didn’t go overboard; still too many even with this list. My stickered heavy-ass Stanley has been the best.

  I know it isn't super old, but I've had an Owala since they were first released years ago and it's still going strong! I've dropped that thing so many times and it doesn't even dent. Once I dropped it off a truck bed and it rolled down the road....thought it was over but nope! I bought a bottom silicone sleeve for it and it "sticks" in place pretty well and doesn't tip over either. The pour spout is simple as to not have a lot of options for mold and the entire top comes apart in 2 pieces to wash/soak/dry at night. I'd recommend.

  I got a knock off yeti in 2019 and it's gotten well worn. It's had 3 different lids and stickers that come and go. It's gotta to the point where you can see the sun bleaching around where the old stickers used to be. An owalla sounds nice for the built in straw/pour feature, but the economy sucks and all my upgrade money is going to insurance.

  I have a couple neurodevelopmental disorders so I'm pretty clumsy. I need: * a straw top to avoid dumping water on myself/up my nose; * insulation to keep my drink hot/cold; * a locking lid to avoid spilling liquid on my keyboard, throw it in my bag, etc; * to minimize plastic; * to cover the straw top so it doesn't get nasty; and * mostly dishwasher safe for cleaning up after non-water hot drinks. I have mix and match Zojirushi stainless vacuum mugs (get stainless so the finish doesn't chip and don't put the plastic locking part part in the dishwasher) and an Owala FreeSip (free from work) with a metal straw for when I need a lot more volume, like for sports practices.

  I love my Owala FreeSip. I own two different sizes and they have been great. I had an issue where the button on the lid kept popping off, I emailed customer service and they gave me store credit to pick out a new top. They’re good on their warranty in my experience.

  Yep. Have nalgenes that I’ve had for 15-20 years, maybe longer, but once I discovered owala I went all in. Multiple routes of water administration, keeps cold drinks cold and ice for a good while, anecdote to the weakest points of Nalgene. Carry mine with me everywhere, feel naked without it.

  I used contigo for years and got tired of the metal ones denting easily. I got a hydroflask big straw cup when I was pregnant to stay hydrated. When my daughter was a week old, my husband knocked it off the back of my car when we were going into an appointment. Huge dent and doesn’t stand up straight anymore. I bought an Owala and I’ve been so happy with it. I’ve dropped it several times on concrete and only have a tiny dent that does not affect its use. Used it for a solid year. When my daughter weaned off of baby bottles we started using the owala kids straw cups and she loves them. They clean up so easily. We purchased aftermarket boots and metal interior straws. We’ve being using those for 5 months and were so pleased with them. We just bought her a mini sip travel cup for warm beverages, very nice.

  I got the owala free sip and absolutely love it. I used to work at an outdoors store so I've been through all kinds of water bottles over the years. For the price point I really love the owala. Nalgene is also an industry standard as well, I just personally prefer the owala.

  I have had three water bottles since 2014. First was a Camelbak with my Unis logo on it. Got rid of it because I like cold water and the Camelbak is single walled plastic (and the drinking bit broke, which I didn't know I could get a replacement for until later on). I was loyal to my S'well bottle from 2017 to 2023. I never found a bottle I preferred more than that one, especially once they released the sport cap (pop top vs twist off) and the handle for it. Then Owala walked in. The ONLY thing that could make me give up my current Owala is an Owala with a stainless steel lid. But I would just buy a replacement lid for my current bottle.

  Yes! I went from a 24oz freesip to a 40oz freesip to a 40oz sway. I love having the mouthpiece covered as owala does and it’s a nice upgrade on the sway to have it locked while using the handle too

  They’re literally all the same to me. Stanley keeps things coldest the longest. Owala and Hydroflask are very practical and won’t leak. I am also very happy with a mason jar and a lid! But that is breakable and not insulated. I have chronic nausea and very cold water helps with that, so I do like to have one that stays cold because I don’t have easy access to ice where I work.

I get canker sores CONSTANTLY so being able to chug the water and it not touch my lips or use a straw was a beautiful thing for me. Have had the same owala for almost 4 years now lol

  Owala is king in the water bottle game rn, but I'm personally not a fan of how complicated a lot of their straw/lids can be- lots of nooks and crannies for mold to get int. I got a stainless steel blender bottle for water/protein shakes and it's been pretty good. Plastic lid with removable rubber bits for easier cleaning. Quality feels there still and I haven't had any issues.

  Have to agree, I used to swear by Yeti, but after the yeti developed an algae smell, dishwasher, vinegar bath, antibacterial tablets etc, it would always come back after a month or two, got an Owala, left water in it for 1 month one time when I forgot to bring it on a holiday, came back, quick hand wash, good as new, no smell. Plus, the option of chugging or straw one handed is a godsend at the gym, mild cardio activity - straw, strenuous weightlifting - chug, no contest.

  Yeti IS overpriced, but it’s absolutely BIFL. Thick steel, thick plastic, replaceable double seals. Hydroflask is good but the carrying band can rip, I have an Owala that I love but the lid hinge is flimsy and will break eventually. If you hate Yeti you haven’t tried one or you can’t afford it.

  I have a bunch of water bottles. The yeti rambler isn’t my favorite to use. But. I can guarantee it will outlast all the others. It has a simple old system that shouldn’t ever fail and it has survived quite a few drops onto concrete. Owala is making my favorite day to day but the lid will 100% eventually fail. So if looking BIFL the yeti is the Best Buy for sure.

  I actually stopped using my Hydro Flask because of that though. Just personal preference - it stayed too cold for too long for me. I have one of the Owala's now that doesn't retain temp as well, which is good for me. If others see this - if you want your drink to stay cold for a long time, Hydro Flask is a great option!

  The straw is seamless. You have take sips wiper having to move your head back to sip, specially great when driving and working on the computer. It’s stratch resistant, It’s easy to clean, fits everywhere, doesn’t leak and it’s cute. I went from drinking 1 l of water a day to 3-4 , it’s just so fun to use with the straw. Also can be used as a weapon when filled to the brim. I would call my owala my emotional support water bottle. My day is ruined if I forget it at home. Also I’ve had mine for 3 years and still going strong

  Well isolated and spillproof Thermocup / togo Coffecup,, minimalistic and not bulky

  If you want cup shape, I like the Owala freesip slider. I bring them dog walking every day, close them up and throw them in my bag. Leak proof, spill proof when closed, lots of colour options, lid comes apart into simple pieces that are dishwasher safe. The cup can go too but Owala says it might damage the finish. That hasn’t been my experience, I’ve washed mine tons.

  I love Nalgene! I have like 3. They are so cheap, durable , and really easy to clean. Dishwasher safe and spouts aren’t usually on the same product as the insulated water bottles are almost always painted. Owala seems to be a decent brand, and I think they look nice. I also have an Iron Flash Fahrenheit widemouth that I’ve had for years that has a spout and is insulated, but sticking it in the dishwasher might chip it. Sorry I couldn’t directly answer but hopefully this can help point you in the right direction! 😊

  I have a bunch of stainless steel water bottles, double insulated. Cheap China, Owala, Takeya, Hydroflask, Ozark Trail. We use them daily, and put them thru the dishwasher nightly. All of the double walls have held up as far as keeping ice all day or night if they don't get washed. I haven't had any that stopped keeping cold. After 10 years, a lot of the powder coating on all of them have started getting a dull finish from the dishwasher. The ones that have dents from dropping begin to get flaking over time. The point of breakdown is usually the lid. I dropped my owala lid, and the plastic where the straw inserts cracked. A few other lids have also been dropped and plastic handles or the flip top part will be the break point. But lids are fairly cheap to replace in comparison to the bottle. Same with silicone rings. So my rec is just to get the bottle that fits where you need it to (backpack holder, car cup holder) and has the lid you like. The Owalas are the current favorite for ease of use and in style for my kid. I have a few Fauxwalas from Temu, and other than they don't have Owala label, work just the same. And I am sure all of the powder coating issues would be solved with handwashing vs dishwasher. But I hate handwashing. Also, acrylic paint pens are amazing for putting names and designs on water bottles. I have ones that have lasted 9 years with minor touchups.

  Marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist etc. I like Owala bottles and have found them for $20. The first ones I got were on clearance at Costco for even less. You can also get Thermoflask at Costco, but their straw top isn't my favourite.

  I've been dishwashing my Owala FreeSip lid for years, and it works great. I just pull off the straw and silicone mouthpiece seal, and put those in the silverware compartment. Lid goes on the top rack. I only drink water in my Owala, but it has always gotten perfectly clean in the dishwasher. I recently started dishwashing the cup as well, knowing that they so recommend hand washing for that part. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

  So I spent WAY too much time on this and made a spreadsheet and YT video about this! It compares 22 bottles, and you can rank 9 criteria based on which are most important to you to get your own personalized list of recommended bottles. All of the bottles except 1 are stainless steel and insulated, and the 9 criteria are leak-proof, best insulation, most durable, easiest to clean, best handle, least cumbersome, most affordable, most car friendly, and most popular. A lot of bottles are dishwasher safe, but they aren't really easy to deep clean. It's ALWAYS a good idea to deep clean regularly (like removing seals and using a cleaning tablet) since the dishwasher can't reach every surface by itself, and if you don't, then bacteria can build up (big problem with most straw bottles with flip-up spouts). So I'd highly recommend researching that some before buying because it's REALLY hard to know that ahead of time. But to sum up which are easiest to clean (both dishwasher safe and easy deep cleaning), many big tumblers are pretty good because of the wide top opening if that's the style you're looking for (like Stanley Quencher). Chug lids are usually pretty simple and relatively easy too. Straw lids are a lot trickier because traditional flip-up spouts are a pain to clean around. Owala is probably your best bet if you want a straw lid because it's a fixed spout and every surface that comes into contact with water is easy to reach. They say they're dishwasher recommended, but that's just to preserve the finish for as long as possible and you shouldn't have any issues with it doing actual damage to your insulation or bottle.   The Owala FreeSip is a bit of a pain to clean though, also in around the chug spout. I still like it. Just wish the carrying handle were larger and it fit better into a cup holder. They do have the FreeSip Sway also, but it is very large at the top. Even the 24oz of either style does not fit easily in a car cup holder. Thus far has not leaked but the flip cap with the spring came apart within a month of use. VERY difficult to get back together. The quality is much less than Hydro Flask. I am really liking the Hydro Flask Travel Bottle with the flex straw cap. It is designed to fit into cup holders better (smaller bottom). This works very well, but at times I miss the chug spout. Hydro Flask has some good colors with matching lids on their website. I like both the 24oz and 32oz (I have not tried the 40oz). Does not leak and has a good straw cap and handle. They have some limited edition neon colors currently, as well. By the way, you can buy a black flex straw cap to fit on your other wide mouth Hydro Flask bottles. With either of these a straw cleaner is necessary, and a special brush to get in the nooks and crannies. Right now, Hydro Flask has their Clean and Bright bundle, which includes a great bottle brush, and a straw and lid cleaning set for $18.99.

  Plenty of options mentioned here. My nieces used to say hydro flask was cool, now they are carrying owala. I like my Stanley thermos but it’s bigger than 1 liter and unwieldy to hike and walk around with. They have them in the 1 liter though. I’m rocking a no name bottle that was a hand out. It’s the right size and performs pretty good. Bottom says brand is h2go. I just put water and ice in it and rarely even wash it. It’s been dropped several times on concrete, and has a dent or two. I think dishwasher will kill the vacuum. If you are drinking something other than water, maybe black coffee, the whatever you can conveniently hand wash or get with a bottle brush. You can probably go by goodwill and take your pick of several, keep the one that works and give them back the others. Not making a responsible bifl option, but at least it recycles something. The type of bottle im using are handed out like candy as logo gear, probably thrown into a corner somewhere until they are taken to goodwill or thrown out.

  If you want to avoid plastic completely, go for stainless steel inside and out. The Owala FreeSip stainless (not the plastic version) is solid, but if you want something more minimal, look at Klean Kanteen or the YETI Rambler bottles. Both are tough, insulated, and no plastic touching the water. Just double check the lid, some have small silicone or plastic seals, but no plastic contact with the water itself.

  I've gone through way too many water bottles over the years, but the [Owala FreeSip](https://x.com/GlowfulDeals/status/1942958325735239892) is the one I actually stuck with. What sold me is the lid — you can sip through the built-in straw or tilt it back to chug, all without switching lids. Super convenient. It’s also leak-proof, which is huge because I throw it in my bag constantly. Definitely worth checking out if you're picky about your bottles like I am.

  The Owala FreeSip has been my holy grail bottle for the past five years. Straw and sip option was the game changer for me. 32 oz - perfect sizing, fits in the majority of cup holders. Flip handle for carrying/attaching to backpacks. No leak design (and have never had an issue). Metal body to prevent cracking/damage (have managed to dent it up over the years, mainly on the bottom; paint has held up extremely well when the abuse I put it through is considered). Fairly well insulated - keeps cold for an extended period, but this isn’t a major point for me. Weight isn’t overbearing. The seal is removable to deep clean (didn’t know this until a few years in, was perfectly clean when I checked it). I’ve machine washed it since I got it with no issues at all (they say not to, but psh). Texture is just grippy enough for me without having obnoxious handles/divots.

  I have the Owala dupe of a 40oz Stanley cup I got for 10$ on clearance. I drink so much more water than I used to because it stays cold, and keeps ice overnight/over 12 hours. I have to drink from a straw to willingly drink anything so others don’t work for me. The only caveat is that it gets heavier than a Nalgene when it’s full. It does fit in all of my cars cup holders, even the side ones on the door, and can use all the Stanley accessories. My cat likes to knock it over a lot and it never leaks. He’s knocked it over on concrete twice and the only noticeable blemish is a small scrape on the paint. So it will last you if you have children or pets that like to knock stuff off of tables.

  I was introduced to Owala a few years ago and I'll never need to find a different water bottle again. Now I feel like I see them everywhere, and for good reason! Biggest upside: the part that actually touches your mouth gets protected by the cap for less germs. Other water bottles seem gross to me now. And they are tough as nails! Hardly any paint chips or dents after years of use.

  Owala's have become my favorite. Insulated, has a spill proof, flip-top cap and a built in straw so that you can choose to suck or gulp. Only down-side is that the 24oz versions don't fit in most cupholders, but with the spill proof cap I just lay it on the passenger seat or, if taken, on my own between my leg and the center console. The paint on these is top notch and mine all look new despite several drops and dishwasher cycles, other than dents on the base from pre-mentioned drops.

  We’ve somehow ended up with many of them in our family - Hydroflask, Yeti, Kleen Kanteen, Owala, and the Stanley water bottle version. Honestly, they’re all pretty comparable, but I do like that I can refill the Owala without taking the lid off and it seems to hold ice the longest. That said, I’m still most attached to my 40oz Hydroflask, I’ve had it for 8 years and it’s held up great and easy lids to replace.

  I've had my plastic Nalgene bottle for ages and I'm sure it'll outlive me. I love that it's lightweight and can be thrown in the dishwasher if I'm too lazy to wash it by hand. About a year ago I got an Owala bottle and it's been fantastic. Keeps stuff cool, is easy to drink from, and doesn't ever leak. I'm not sure if it'll be a buy it for life item but it's held up great with daily use over the last year.

  I'm surprised you didn't have luck with the Stanley Ice Flow, I have had one for years and it and my Owala keep ice cold for over 24 hours. I went to an event on a Saturday, left my Ice Flow at the venue and it had ice in it still when I picked it up Monday evening. I also got my kids Yeti 18 oz water bottles with their names on them. I'd almost dare them to lose them now, but they are skilled forgetters.

  Check out Owala. I especially like their “smooth sip slider” mugs, they lock closed and come fully apart, and the tops are completely dishwasher friendly. The bottoms are painted, insulated metal so they’re supposed to be hand washed but can be run through if you don’t mind the wear on the paint.

  I’ve used lots of bottles with methods from flip straws, push buttons, taking off the lids, and then Owala’s straw/sip lid. And honestly Owala’s the winner is most categories. My biggest thing is cleaning as flip lids and push buttons get insanely dirty insanely fast. But my Owala is really easy to clean and has no hidden spots for mold or bacteria to grow. For what you want, an Owala seems like a easy choice

  I like the Owala bottles. They are just wide enough that I can get my hand inside them to clean them and the straw and seal both come off for easy cleaning. They also sell replacement silicone seals although I haven’t needed one. I’ve had mine a couple of years now and it is as clean as new. They keep water cold all day too. I used to use a contigo but it’s really hard to keep the caps clean.

  I’ve tried a lot of different bottles, also trying to find the perfect one for me and I think the Owala is the best, hands down. It’s easy to hold, has a handle, and has a straw/way to chug water all without spilling or leaking. I wish it was a tiny bit bigger, but at the same time I like being able to throw it in my bag or purse without it being too big.

  I have a few hydrapeak 72oz jugs (basically a cheap yeti rambler) I found at TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Sierra(if you're lucky enough to have one by you) $25. Been using them for over 3 years for myself, kid, and dog when we do parks and walks. We have our own steel hand sized bottles filled with ice and water in the morning (kid thermos, yeti, owala) and I refill them from the jug the rest of the day. The spout isn't bad to drink out of at all but the thing is heavy so drinking it while driving isn't an option (same issue with the rambler). I also keep one under my seat at all times full in case of emergency and rotate it out every month or so so the water is fresh. If I put ice in them it and it will last most of the day. Don't know about the lead since all this hype is going around but the bottom is single piece steel with no lead dot. This has been my go to solution for water since I had my baby and I love that I can switch between my yeti/owala depending on the adventure. I haven't had the owala for long so no comment on it being in the sun but my slider lid yeti has gone out to sea with a silicone or metal straw in it an no issues.

  Have a dozen Yeti tumblers and cups - never fail, always useful - no clue why I have so many, but I actually do use them all for different things/scenarios. Their sealing chug cap is the best I’ve seen and I use them on both Yeti bottles and RTIC bottles - awesome design. Have a half dozen RTIC tumblers and cups that are honestly just as good as Yeti. Have a Stanley 42 and a Stanley Thermos with lid/cup. Love them both. Had a Takeya 32 that I recently got rid of because it was so beat up. Have a couple Owalas that we like a lot (my wife is big on these). Never saw any appeal of Hydroflask and don’t ask me why because I don’t have an answer. Never have had one and don’t think I ever will. No more insulated drinkware for me 😂.

I have: 40oz simple modern trek tumbler 32oz Owala free sip 21 oz hydroflask standard Maybe a larger hydroflask has better ice retention but my Owala and SM bottles have good ice retention and dent less easy. If I needed another midsize water bottle I would go with a SM bottle vs the Owala

At the top of my list are Yeti, Owala and the Camelbak Chute. Yeti and the Camelbak are top on the list if you want a simple no straw lid. Owala for flexibility when it comes to the lid. If you want a straw get the Owala. Hydroflask used to my go to and I have a couple bottles that are a decade old but not as impressed with the new stuff.

  Just picked up an Owala Freesip (24 oz) a couple days ago to compliment my CamelBak Chute which I’ve had for about seven and a half years. I can’t speak to the durability of the Owala because I haven’t dropped it or anything yet, but I really like having a straw and chug lid both built in. Seems easy enough to clean. It’s about as big as the cup holder in my car will tolerate, but it fits well enough to stay upright. I don’t usually put ice in my water, but it’s coming out of my spigot pretty cold thanks to winter and the Owala keeps it cold for a while. Owalas come in all sorts of color combinations, if that’s your thing. I got white with a black lid. The CamelBak (25oz) is the all plastic one and has no insulation. I got this before they implemented the magnetic lid, but honestly the lid on this thing is one of my favorite things about it. It tucks neatly and easily into the handle and comes off with minimal rotation. I can grab the lid, twist it open, and put it in the handle without having to adjust my initial grip. Super quick and convenient and doesn’t leak. I’m skeptical that the new CamelBak magnetic lids are an improvement, but I haven’t experienced it to say for sure. It’s scuffed up from some drops over the years, but hasn’t broken or anything. The paint indicating the amount of water left in ounces and milliliters is still perfectly unblemished. The downside is that since it’s plastic, if I leave it in my car when it’s hot outside the water gets pretty warm. I expect to use the Owala more often than not and the CamelBak will probably become my dedicated hiking bottle.

  For around the house/office I love the Owala FreeSip. I still have a bunch of 32 oz Nalgenes around for camping/hiking when I definitely don’t want the extra weight of the metal. If you go the Nalgene route make sure to get some of the inserts for the wide mouth tops, they make them much easier to deal with. Agree about not worrying about a warranty.

  Ok, hear me out ik it’s the new “popular trendy” water bottle but the Owala free sip, have had mine for almost 4 years(before it was trendy) and love it, I am clumsy so I normally get metal water bottles to withstand more damage and it has held up! I quite literally set it on the back of my car and closed my trunk on it, my car trunk got dented, Owala went flying and is still somehow didn’t get dented? I also have left it on top of my car too many times and driven off, it has 1 dent from that but it’s probably happened 10-20 times. You can literally chuck it at asphalt and it would still be ok. If ur clumsy or forgetful the Owala freesip is the water bottle for you. :)

  I have owalla, hydroflask, Stanley as well as a few lesser brands. All of them keep water cold and tea hot. None of them are BIFL technically as the fittings and enamel will eventually break down, but definitely decades of use. If you want sleek, yeti is the best design with the non enameled stainless base. The others need a silicon boot to protect the enamel otherwise they chip and dent and don't stand straight after.

  I have yeti ramblers that have worked well for years. They keep cold things cold and hot things hot really well. But they are not leak proof and the lids are kind of a pain to clean. I recently got an owala water bottle which I like travelling / running errands with more. The owala has a built in straw/chug lid that has a leak proof cover. After I had a random kid sneeze on my yeti I much prefer to have a cover when I'm out and about. I have had my owala floating around in my bag all day with no leaks. The downside is that it doesn't fit in a standard car cupholder.

  [Request] All metal water bottle that's easy to hand clean

  I have been using an Owala water bottle for a year now and I am pleased with how easy it is to clean. The bottle is wide enough to put either a sponge or dishcloth inside and move around with my fingers. The top is plastic, but it has not deteriorated at all, and is very simple to clean. This was a birthday gift that I didn’t know I needed until I began using it.

  Are Thermos bottles good?

  For cold I love my owala bottle not sure how it would be for hot drinks, for hot drinks I use an old school Stanley flask and use the cup for when I'm having a drink. Thermos has a pretty good reputation though
