Socks not working out
Have you tried alpaca socks? I have a ton of pairs of Pacas and I wear the hell out of them and they’re going strong 5 years later. I legitimately keep a pair on my feet at all times from October-April, much of the time without shoes, just socks around the house. Literally not one single hole. Not sure how they’d wear for heavy heavy use but might be worth a shot.

Good quality alpaca wool socks?
I echo everyone's thoughts about Pacas here. I've placed a few orders with them over the years, and have recommended them to friends because I truly think Alpaca fiber is superior to wool (warm and cozy even when wet, although to other folks' points on this thread, it does wear out a little faster). But their customer service has gone way downhill. They recently mailed me the wrong colors, and I wrote back to see about an exchange and the best they could offer was to have me return them and order a new set, with me paying shipping for both the return and the new order. Totally unsatisfactory solution for something that was their mistake -- and they haven't returned my messages since then. I wouldn't recommend.

Good quality alpaca wool socks?
Beware...I should have read the BBB reviews from Pacas before ordering. Pacas has been a nightmare. I placed an order Memorial Day weekend and I did not receive all the items I ordered. Customer service is so difficult to get ahold of via email. They used to have a chat feature on their website, but it has been disabled for months now. When I contacted them about the missing items, I was notified they are out of stock. I picked replacements which were also out of stock by the time they were shipped. The back and forth was so slow and an exchange for sizing was also terribly slow. Last part of my order exchanged from my original order was marked as shipped at the end of July. They told me the socks were out of stock and had me pick a different color. Then, they suddenly had that color again and they were in the mail. They weren't delivered until mid-September. I do like the low cut socks a lot, but this company sucks.
