nuwave bravo (pro or air) is the usual bifl answer becs parts are easy to find and the temp control stays honest. Panasonic flashxpress is a little tank if you want small and simple. Cuisinart has a good long track record too. I 2nd the Panasonic. Accidentally left my Norelco behind in the States during a work trip to Japan. Picked up the Panasonic there. Coincidentally, I left my charger for that Panasonic behind during a long trip...so I ordered another identical Panasonic. Works on battery or while plugged in and charging. The two guards provided (one longer, one shorter) along with built in rotating adjustments provide great range of lengths and is fairly easy to travel with while being full-sized (fewer guards to carry than some models). I've shaved my head with it after a hatchet job at a chain hair shop. Ive pulled off a rough, but passable, fade while working night shift overseas with it. Not meant for full blown hair cuts but might get you by in a pinch haha.

Best 1.2 CU FT Microwave for small family?
Check the door latch first, you want proper metal hooks not those floppy plastic tabs that give up way too soon. Small microwaves can be a pain because so many feel like they were slapped together in a hurry... What usually kills them is the magnetron cooking itself to death or the magnetorn doing the same when the build is really cheap. If the back panel is thin plastic instead of a metal heat shield just walk away. Same deal with the turntable motor, if the gear housing is that cloudy nylon cap it wears out fast but a metal one keeps going. A stainless cavity helps too because the painted ones start flaking once steam creeps into the seams and then you’re basically blasting food around rusty paint which is no fun at all and you end up scrubbing forever If you want names the Panasonic NN-SN67KS and the Toshiba ML-EM45 usually get the important bits right. They aren’t miracles but at least they don’t come across like something you’ll chuck in six months.

I’d avoid brand-new ultra cheap players, most break or skip fast. Good strategy is to get an older portable boombox (Sony or Panasonic) or a used Discman with anti-skip. You get solid playback and built-in speakers without the junk reviews and for a good price on FB market or Ebay.

I recommend against this product because mine broke after three uses and they did not reimburse me in any way. The product does not have warranty and is sold by a Chinese brand. Other alternatives although imperfect, offer some form of warranty and operate openly. Panasonic ER-GN300 for just about the same price - it has sturdier construction, stronger motor, and longer battery life.

I love my Panasonic earbuds. Just got five years out of a pair that I’ve totally abused and use daily. But I just replaced them. The old pair still works, but the membrane thing in the ear bud is separated from the plastic. Doesn’t affect the sound at all, so might just be a plastic membrane to protect the internal parts. But I started to hear some cracking too. This things got wrapped up and crushed in my office chair wheels a bunch of times. So I think that did them in. If I was a little more careful, these things would probably Last a lot longer

Yes. My first one was a mid-sized Panasonic and it was $250.00. Just had a rotary dial timer. No other controls. Worked like a charm. Actually the initial one quit soon after purchase, but the warranty replacement had a good long life.

Zojirushi is a super solid choice. I've owned several over the years and wouldn't run my kitchen without one it's more important than a toaster to me. My ex was Korean and introduced me to zojirushi back in the 90s. Panasonic also makes quality rice cookers. There are other brands as well, the domestic Japanese home market has many choices. Budget $125-150 and you won't regret it.

Panasonic is not bad either. It's really good if it has advanced logic (fuzzy logic...), most older ones do not have it. Yumasia also makes really nice ones (one thing that stands out is that they use ceramic enameled pots instead, especially neat on the "Tsuki" model that uses a proper clay pot, but others use stainless with a thick ceramic layer instead).

Headphones for sensitive friend
[Panasonic Clip On Earphones](https://a.co/d/8hIMSu2) is what I would suggest. They don't go in ear and are not noise cancelling. These specifically I can wear all day compared to other clip ones due to the shape of the clip. My ears don't get sore when I use them. I use them because most headphones give me headaches and I hate earbuds. They are wired though, so if your friend needs, they can buy an adapter for their phone. Most computers still come with the jack, as far as I know. Hope this helps!

I have the same microwave you do and think it’s the best microwave I’ve ever owned, and the popcorn button works decently. All bagged popcorn says to not use the popcorn button, btw, so you have to babysit popcorn in a microwave with any microwave. I recommend a commercial microwave if your concerns are the rotational speed of the microwave, because a commercial microwave will not have a turntable at all.

you buy things directly form japan? I never really thought much about that. cool. I do say that if your skin is sensitive, I do recommend changing the foil more often than I do, i am just crazy when it comes to stuff like that. like to use things until they just stop working entirely (or just stop working properly). not always healthy for the skin, tho. I admittedly never used the cleaning machine aspect of the stand, just the charging/drying aspect of it. the thing uses actual detergent that does more than a simple cleaning? if your skin notices it, I wonder how it helps the shaving process. ebaying used things is not a bad idea. I once found the razer in an almost unused sate, complete in the box for only around $60-$70 about a year ago for someone.

I’m feeling silly now for swapping blades on the exact interval the manual recommends, maybe just an ipa soak in an ultrasonic or an old brush like you do would be better, gonna try that next instead, maybe only swap em out half as much. I don’t even have that much facial hair. If I don’t swap the detergent in a timely manner in the cleaning machine part tho I DEFINITELY notice skin fuckery, but that too, I should find a cheaper alternative than eBay-ing shit from Japan once a year or so

I have been using the original blades that came with it e v e r y s i n g l e d a y for 5 years straight, and just now am I feeling like I should replace the blades. I do rinse the blades off after every use, and every month or 2 I do deep clean the blades (but not with the solution, I manually clean it with soap, water, and a tooth brush). I agree, this shaver is a godsend.

Sure there are. Wired ones. Ideally with a detachable cord. If you want to be aware of your surroundings, get some open back ones. I have a bunch of different phones, but my favorite affordable open-backed ones are the Philips SHP9500 which you can find for about $80 online. Super comfortable, accurate sound, fairly efficient. Mine are eight years old and look/feel/sound like they did when new.

Parents need all new kitchen appliances
I just go with whatever Costco has, since their return policy is amazing if anything does go wrong. When we were looking a few years ago, I think we avoided Samsung everything. Got Panasonic microwave, Bosch dishwasher, LG stove, and LG fridge. Microwave actually did stop working and we got a full refund, but all the review says Panasonic is still heads above other brands.

I would suggest the solition to the multiple countertop appliance dilema is to get a microwave~convection~airfryer. This is what I did and it’s great. Takes up the space of one ‘microwave’ but has many functions. Saves space and also energy. Mine is Panasonic, I’m sure there are options.

Currently have a late 1960's Panasonic radio playing. It's not been in a house much. Took it out of the shed because of the pupper (likes background music). Boats, porches, sheds, garages. Has plenty of paint splatter on it. It's where it's been that's cool. Started life as the radio my dad and grandfather would listen to ball games on.

I have some: shure se215 (2006 ones), shure e3c, sony mdr15ex, akg samsung earbuds, panasonic ergofit, and some xaiomi mi, skullcandy (cant remember) and akg k-44 not earbuds these. best for price IMO are akg samsung. even they only come with mic, sound was amazing... cannot find them only copies not good sounding (look for china made not vietnam, they came w/ samsung cell phones back in the day. sony budget are really good. shure se215 are great but pricey and e3c not that great but flat and not so expensive. xiaomi's suck panasonic ergofit are good but too bassy as are skullcandy (some wired some bt) and do yourself a favor and get akg k-44 or whatever the new model is!

"First question, what did you hate about the emerson? Like use that as a jumping off point, like do you like rotating plates, do you want an inverter this time, do you wanna go big or small? Cos the world is your oyster my friend. You’ll find something good in Panasonic’s catalogue, not so much in sharp’s in terms of variety. I’ll drop a couple of reccs here for different specs and you can have your pick, really. -So if you’re going inverter (basically eats up less power), look at Panasonic’s genius sensor one. Its really up there in price but does well at what its supposed to and lives up to the inverter label. -If you want the rotating glass (best for even heating) and something smaller so it takes up less room, look at Haden’s 0.7 cu ft one ([linking here](https://best-reviewers.com/dp-B0D75472WM) cos its a little niche). Small, retro aesthetic, good 700 watts on it and heats up things pretty fast and even with a couple of different modes. You’d also do well to go hunting on FB marketplace for a used panasonic if its out of your price range but you’re taking a gamble on the condition you get it in.

We have had good luck with our LG so far. If you can make space for it, the Panasonic countertop microwaves are truly the best. Most brands are made by like 2-3 actual manufacturers though.

Panasonic plasmas used to be the best you could buy in a box store. I still have a 50" going. Only thing you have to be careful about is burn-in. Sometimes an issue with video games and using it as a computer monitor.

I replaced my 1987 Sears microwave two years ago when it started making crackling noises. I've been happy with my Costco Panny microwave so far. Biggest complain is that you have to reset the clock when there is a power failure. May yours live on to create heat-and-eat leftovers for many more years! I still have my old 50” Panasonic plasma. Use it in my garage. It’s fantastic. Not only is the picture still really good, it acts as a secondary source of heat in the garage during winter. 😁

Panasonic is likely the best for the closest wet or dry shave, and it's great for sensitive skin. I've had mine for nearly ten years, used daily, and it still holds a charge for at least a week. The cleaning / drying / charging station is nice to have but not a 'need to have'.

Sony bravia tv bought in 2006 one of the first flat screens, and was very expensive. Been used since then and still working great, image quality is very good, and sound is great quality, lound and clear, with bass too!
I have 50" Panasonic Viera (plasma) made in 2005, still going strong. No issues at all and has beautiful picture.

I buy cheap and if it breaks then I go for the bifl one. Harbor Freight tools, oxo kitchen tools. My first instant pot died on me so I got the eco pro or whatever and it’s lasted nearly a decade. My first rice cooker failed so I bought a Panasonic. However, on registry/wish list I put bifl stuff because I didn’t want people to feel bad when their gifts broke. KitchenAid mixers. Vitamix blender. Wüsthof knives. Stuff I learned about from this sub. Then a friend bought me my entire wish list. I’m set for life on many things, as is my daughter who will inherit.

Been using this on “dead” battery for 2 years
I bought one in 2023 for 80 euro with the interchangeable heads. I use it as a nose hair trimmer only. The damn shaver head and body grooming heads keeps flying off while I am using it and the blades are so dull. I have to do multiple runs to get an even shave made worse by the fact the thing just won't stay in place. Now my hair is very thick and I am very hairy, maybe it's just me. But I am burned for 80 euros and literal hours of trying to use the damn thing. Philips customer service never replied to my 3 complaints. Bought a traditional Panasonic shaver, works like magic and am done in minutes. Sharp blade, locked in shave head, and very repairable. I am never buying anything "multifunction", advertising that it doesn't need maintenance or from the Philips personal care brand again.

I can concur on Panasonic quality. I suggest you look up what inverters do, but basically they allow percentage strength to be accurate. Most microwaves only have either on/off strength so 50% strength will blast 100% for 1 second and then off for one second and then back in for one second for example. An inverter allows the strength to be true to the percentage. That’s my understanding.

Miele or Gaggenau for any of the above. Panasonic inverter for microwave. Sub-zero and Wolf for fridge and oven / hob respectively. Fisher and Paykel also good for fridge, as is Leibherr (make Mieles fridges). Bosch good if you want more middle range, especially their dishwashers but go for the more expensive end of their range as they do a huge variety.

Even paying the upper end of market value for the used market, you still get a much nicer product than what the same money would buy new, and you get to help keep more unnecessary stuff from being produced Its a bit intimidating to start buying expensive stuff online, but once you get a feel for how sellers in a particular niche tend to advertise and document things, you can get a very good idea of how the things will function.

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
Audio tech is probably the thing that's changed the least (despite places like Best buy trying to convince people otherwise). I don't think anyone would buy new audio hardware for their living rooms if it wasn't that many prefer the more minimal Bluetooth/soundbar setups. My tv uses a Panasonic unit that must be from the 80s or 90s. It sounds awesome and cost me like $25-50 from some guy who had it in his garage for years. Facebook marketplace is the best place for audio gear sometimes lol

I had the TX-P42G10 since 2010 and it is now with a family member. It lost quite a bit of brightness but the image quality is still stunning. It has this filmic aesthetic that i love. Great TV that gave me good moments. I have OLED now and it is brighter, ultra-thin and 4K and whatnot... but the old Panny looked like film.

Just gave our P 55" plasma to the kid, I had an irrational emotional attachment to it as I won it at a christmas party and couldn't afford something like that at the time. I kept researching tv quality over the years and we wanted something larger since our LR is kind of big but strangely shaped, once the OLEDs got cheaper we picked up a nice one as LED etc just could not compare, as others have said, the kid will likely get another 10+ years out of it. We did keep a 42" plasma that we've had for many years and will leave it on the wall until it bites the dust. The new TV is nice, picture is great but the software... it makes me miss the Panasonic the most.

Just checked the date on my Panasonic 42" Plasma. April 2011...so it should still have plenty of years left. Running a firestick gives it all the 'smarts' I need. I was surprised that HDMI CEC was a thing back then, so I have full control of the normal functions with the Fire remote.

Yeah display technology has improved immensely since then. TVs are not something I’d consider buying for life, at least not yet. And I actually have an old plasma because I think it’s cool, but it’s definitely not my main display. You’ll get much better clarity, color accuracy, power efficiency, pixel response times, and contrast/brightness with an OLED.

I had one of these from 2007ish with the 3d glasses. I only ever used them twice, once when ESPN did a 3d broadcast of a Dwight Howard Magic game, and a random PS3 game I couldn't tell you. I paid $600 for it when I got it. I sold it in 2021 for $450. Dude wanted to watch 3d movies. Hope its still working for him. Great tv. I still havent purchased a tv since. Just use my computer monitors and my SO's cheap TCL tv they brought when they moved in.

Panasonic is now what Braun used to be. Modern Brauns are not very good; I used them for 20+ years. First one lasted 13 years I think, second one maybe four or five, last one was only two or three. I've since moved on to Panasonics and while I don't have nearly as much time using them, I'm overall pleased. I have two of them. I don't know the model numbers, but one is the fancy pivoting head deal with a trimmer, the other is my super cheapy and it takes two AAs (does not charge). I probably use the cheapy the most. Got it for travel, but I like how tiny it is and it works really well. The big one is better, but I just keep using the little guy.

my parents gave me their panasonic when I went to college in 99.... they hadn't even peeled the protective plastic on it, so I took it off and it looked brand new...... used that microwave until I was out of 3-4 years out of college and let my roomate keep it and it was 20 years old by then might still be working today. Bought a cheapo sunbeam unit after that and it slightly melted itself and died in a year. I only buy panasonic inverters now and learned my mistake, quality stuff.

Buy Once Cry Once items?
You’ll have to cry again, it’s not a forever purchase, but: Panasonic Eneloop and their top of the line charger. The math adds up to them being more expensive than Alkaline AA/AAA batteries on the initial purchase, but the second time you need a new pack of Duracell’s, the Panasonic’s win. They can be recharged a bazillion times, if you charge and forget about them in the junk drawer for a couple years they’re still charged, and the bonus is that I’ve never had one leak and kill a remote control or some other thing I left them in and then forgot about for years. I say they aren’t forever because batteries just aren’t, plus I’m sure you’ll lose some or whatever, but I have a few left that are pretty damn old at this point and the smart charger says they’re still fine.

Panasonic Electric Pencil Sharpers: Best pencil sharpeners ever made. Every single one I’ve had never broke, just either got lost in moves or became gifts to cash strapped artist friends. Grabbed another one off eBay a few months ago. It’s still the king of sharpening.
I just came across a Panasonic model KP-33. It is an auto stop model that actually has a light that illuminates when the pencil is sharp. Very well-made machine rubber feet are a little bit dry orange but the thing is so heavy it doesn't really move when you sharpen a pencil one-handed.

A lot of big Japanese companies make products BIFL because the Japanese use their products for a helluva long time. I think I read somewhere that German products last a long time but they must be maintained properly and precisely according to the manual. Any deviation and it just won't last. Whereas Japanese engineers designed their products assuming they'll be worked hard and not taken care of properly (it might have been a post about Toyota vs German made cars lol). Regardless, that's been my personal experience. We have a Zojirushi water boiler and it runs well (although, despite using it every day for 6 years, it's not like I would expect to have issues anyway lol). Parents have one that's easily 10+ years old and still runs great. They have a Panasonic microwave that they got the year I was born and it still runs like a damn tank (it's almost 40 years old!). That microwave is used daily and still looks and works like brand new! Wish more things were like that in this world.

I was without a toaster, toaster oven, or microwave for a long time, and have very limited counter space. Someone here posted their Panasonic Flashxpress toaster oven, and it looked like exactly what I've been missing. I really love it, and have done all kinds of food prep things in it. Made some baked pasta, baked cookies, roasted potatoes and other veggies, and it toasts bread PERFECTLY. Plus it's small and compact, I actually had just exactly enough space beside my sink to put it there with a 2 inch gap between it and the wall.

From everything that I've read, they are great when they work. If it breaks though, they do not sell spare parts. It's chunk it and buy a new one. When I was shopping for a new toaster oven I wound up going for the Panasonic flashxpress. It's not great for everyone as it's kinda small and not as versatile as the breville, but it does work great for the stuff I have done (toasting, baking, reheating - and man does it toast/reheat fast). Panasonic has a website that sells all the parts for it. That's what sealed the deal for me and made it more BIFL.

They have some 4 (or more) in one microwave/ovens. It's an oven. It is a microwave. It is a broiler. It is a toaster. Mine is also a steamer and has an infrared camera in it for cooking and defrosting. Look for on that has mutiple trays. Guarantee mine is a discontinued model from actual Japan, and better brush up on your Japanese. But it is a workhorse from Panasonic.

[Request] Consumer-Grade (not military spec) Laptop with the longest lasting hardware/hinges
I ran a department in a large enterprise organization that tested and selected laptops for use by employees. Use cases ranged from office users who plugged them in and cabled them to a desk where it never moved to people who strapped them to snowmobiles to travel up a mountain to a site... First thing to mention is that there is more to the discussion than rugged vs. not rugged. There is a class called semi-rugged that is typically a machine with improved shock resistance, a tough case but not generally protected from dust or water ingestion. (See Panasonic's Toughbook 53) In return it's a bit lighter and more business like than the fully rugged laptops. Assuming from your edit you are reasonably confident that a Toughbook is too heavy and large, then the response based on my experience is the T series Lenovo. One test we would to is to take the screen and flex it by the corners to see if the hinges were up to the task. We often had HPs and Dells that would begin to crack or even not close after torquing them like this, but never the Lenovo. One easy indicator is how far outboard the hinges are located. The closer to center, the easier they fail a torque test. Lenovo's hinges are furthest to the edge and provide the most support. Here's the big caveat.... In an enterprise, it's very expensive for employees to be trading in and trading up machines all the time. For you, it's a different scenario. How long do you really want it to last? Do you want to pay twice as much for a machine that will last twice as long when the rate of technological change is so rapid and your switching cost is relatively low? Consider living with the fact that it will fail and accepting you will be getting a new one in two years. Spend half the money now, and the other half then. The second half of the money will get you a brand new, improved spec machine to be using for years 3 and 4.

Hell even I have to agree and I hate windows. I'm in computer engineering and we were issued these Surface things, I hated it at first but now, especially with VDI, I sort of prefer it. Lightning fast and all the corporate stuff work very well. As someone who makes his money outside the windows world, I have to give credit where it is due. MS did a good job here. However it is not tough, just has less part to break. It is a tablet, albeit a good one. Back when we got dirty, we had basically three laptops we gave out to field staff. These were not IT people. These were land surveyors, farmers, mountaineers, and other outdoor people. We had a thin Fuji, Lenovo X (with the tilting screen), and toughbooks. The Levovos always performed the worst. THere was nothong particularly wrong with the Fuji, but screens broke and water and dust got in everywhere. Panasonic has rubber gussets to cover ports and the hinge is very well made. For a laptop that claims to be tough it is also fairly responsive and has a decent display. At home, the laptop I have had for about 4-5 years now, with a bend in the aluminum frame from a drop is a metal HP elitebook. I absolutely love it. It is very well made, top spec for the time, and can take a beating. I take it on the road, bang it in airports, and generally treat it with no respect. It is fine. Also runs Debian without any issues, which I need for work. If you are not going to be killing it in a swamp, I highly recommend it. (I have the hp elitebook 8460p kind of crappy screen in that model but I needed it for work)

What Vacuum for $150 and under? or maybe $200

We have 8 pets, use it weekly, and I have long hair which kills vacuums. It is a very good budget machine. Easy to change bags and on board attachment storage is great. The hose attachments are super useful. Love it. Pros: it does a great job and is very versatile - it drives me crazy to not have attachments because then you can never get corners and the edges of carpeted rooms so attachments are a must for me. The bags are very easy to change/very clean change out (no dust or spillage issues). I have never had a service on it (with 8 pets and long hair, that is a miracle.) It is much more powerful than our shop vac. Cons: it is sort of heavy, a little cumbersome, and the upright part is not super balanced and has a tendency to fall over. Uprights are more convenient than canister vacs, but I would not trade my canister because having so shedding pets means that I need to clean furniture/corners/weird places that I would normally not need to clean. My house is 75% wood / 25% carpet/tile/vinyl. No stairs, but they would be easy with this vac.

What Vacuum for $150 and under? or maybe $200
Here's a list I had written up for another user with similar parameters. Bagged=Better. A BIFL vacuum under $200 really can't be considered BIFL, but I think these are some good options (For primarily carpets, all hard floors would be a completely different list.) I would always recommend buying from a brick and mortar store if possible. Not only do they typically provide better service/support than big box stores and internet retailers, they are essential your warranty center and I think if your paying for warranty you should make sure you have a place to have it taken care of. There are other brands that are not mention here that are available (Cirrus,Evolution, etc.) but I would recommend most the machines below over these companies. Carpet Pro/Fuller Brush - I have these with commercial accounts that have used them for 9+ years. (To give you an idea the vacuum industry considers 1 year commercial use = 5 years residential use.) With this formula these machines have 45+ years of use on them. *Now these machines are well cared for and maintained which is only going to prolong the life compared to folks that do nothing to maintain their machines.
