Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
I’m still using most of the kitchen items I bought in the 90s. A LOT of it is Pampered Chef. I’m still using my Pfaltzgraff dishes I got for my wedding in 89. Appliances, linens, and electronics all wear out but my Tupperware and Pampered Chef stuff still works really well.

Is Pfaltzgraff a buy it for life brand? Other recommendations for Christmas dishes?
Yes, so the older stuff is stamped into the stoneware. The newer, cheaper stuff is just a black print not stamped into the stoneware. I would recommend lead testing it. All of mine was negative, but it never hurts to be sure. You can get the swabs for like $1.50.

Need advice on new dishes
I've had a set of pfaltzgraff heritage white (the pattern/ style) that my spouse bought when he moved out in the late 1990s. We did get a few replacement plates during covid, because we needed extras with everyone eating at home. They're fairly sturdy, as long as you're not abusive to them. The go from fridge to microwave to dishwasher- I've even used the tea cups to bake muffins in a 375F oven. They will show marks from the silverware and the edges can chip on the bowls, but for things that are nearly 30 years old and get daily use, I've no complaints.
