The toothbrush will generally last a week on one charge if you brush thoroughly twice a day. If you're traveling for longer than that pack the charger too which is about the size of a golf ball.

  My dentist recommended an Oral B simply because the brush shape was best for reaching my back molars. You can usually find really solid deals on Oral B or Phillips Sonicare at Costco - I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

  from what i’ve seen brand matters way less than the specific model. like oral-b is a good example i’ve had one of their cheaper models die on me pretty fast, but something like the Pro 1000 / Pro 1500 line is a tank and just keeps going if you don’t care about fancy features. same with sonicare: the DiamondClean looks nice but the simpler ProtectiveClean models tend to last longer and are easier to replace parts for. imo [this aquasonic one](https://deo9gr5ha90bn.cloudfront.net/?q=GMKAO1525) is cool but i can’t really speak for their other models, just that one.

  Please do not overthink this. Philips Sonicare and Oral B both make good electric toothbrushes that will be a significant improvement over a manual toothbrush -- so much so that the minor differences between them are trivial. Buy one you get a good deal on, as long as it has a 2-minute timer. Beyond that, change the heads regularly, and actually use it for 2 minutes, hover don't just drag it around your teeth. Also, even though this will be a huge improvement over manual brushes, flossing is still very additive to your oral hygiene if you can muster the willpower to do it.

  for braces, i’d lean toward something that has a solid battery life so you’re not constantly charging it on top of all the other dental stuff you’re already dealing with. oral-b is great at scrubbing around brackets because of the small round head, but the battery isn’t always the strongest unless you go higher up their line. sonicare tends to last way longer between charges (sometimes 2–3 weeks easy), and the sonic vibrations do a good job of shaking loose stuff that hides around wires. soocas is cool with the combo flosser idea, but i’ve found the “all-in-one” types don’t hold a charge as long once you start using both functions regularly. might be better to keep toothbrush and flosser separate if you don’t want to be plugging it in every few days. i’ve also seen other brands like sakyproral (don’t know if i’m spelling it right, but [linking here](https://nelsonfoto.com/dp-B08BK51CQHAK) so you can check it out) come up with toothbrushes that last 150 days so maybe check out other brands too[.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BK51CQH)

  Dude, your use of that thing is disgusting. The residue buildup on the grip? The bristles completely broken? get a good Philipps Sonicare and use it according to instructions: no brush motions, just gently sliding along teeth.

  What’s the best/most ‘worth it’ electric toothbrush?

  Both of those will get the job done, but a lot of the “extra” features in higher tiers are more about add-ons than a better clean. Feno takes a different approach with 18,000 bristles cleaning the whole mouth at once in 20 seconds. Would you rather stick to a trusted brand name or try something that rethinks the routine entirely?

  My Sonicare is almost 10 years old and has zero functionality issues. There’s a couple cosmetic issues (yellowing handle and the rubber around the button got pressed inwards) but it is what it is, and I think they’ve addressed this on newer models, at least the rubber. We have the 2 Series which is probably the equivalent to the 4100 series now. The battery still lasts weeks at a time which is nice. My charger plugs into the wall but I think the newer ones work off a usb phone charger block. It’s not the most compact electric toothbrush out there and the case it came with is not space efficient and no longer latches (though I think I messed it up and now it’s warped), but the never models look slimmer with better cases.

  I don't get the point of all the extra shenanigans either, it's literally just a toothbrush. It only supposed to clean well and last me long enough + not cost like $200. And if you need it for a few good years, the brush needs to come with at least 5+ brush heads. Also i dont think you need to make it so complicated, go on amazon for 10 mins and youll have at least one good brand. I have [this one](https://videoguidelines.com/dp-B0DDJ4JYXHV) saved which is a premium kind for $40 and around a years warranty. Its the timer and battery life that mainly do well compared to similar range brushes which I looked at. Basically its got all the basics and a few additional features with the travel case and overall performance.

  Sonicare vs OralB - which one is worth the money?

  I have had 5 sonicares over 15 years. 2010-2016: I got a twin pack for Christmas. I gave one away. The other one still worked but I wanted to upgrade at the end of 2016. 6100. 2016-2024: it stopped charging. 9000. 2024: It still works but I wanted to upgrade so now it’s a travel brush. 4100 2025: I just got the 9900. A few tips: Don’t leave it submerged in water for too long. I have read that the screws in the handle become loose if you regularly tap the handle against the sink to get the water off.

  I had a Philips Sonic Care Diamond Clean. There's a screw inside near the motor that can get loose. I tried to get it open without making a mess, but it wouldn't budge. I replaced it with a Philips Sonicare 4100. The heads are the same. I use some aftermarket ones with bristles 3M makes or some bullshit... they're the same as the OEM ones. This second one was well under a hundred bucks and the clean feels about the same. Long story short, definitely get one of these and also get into regular flossing.

  Their customer service is also fantastic if you have issues. I’ve been using Philips Sonicare for 13 years now. I’ve had one of the nicer models with all kinds of features, but now I have one of their cheapest models and it’s great. I have had many gum issues (multiple surgeries), but overall my dental health has improved since switching to this line.

  I’ve been using Philips Sonicare for over 10 years. On my second one (first one died. Understandable). Highly recommend. Brush heads are kind of expensive but I can definitely tell the difference vs a manual brush.

  Dont worry about the yellowish color. Plastic does change colors over time depending on environmental factors. (Especially uv/sunlight and or chemicals) White becoming yellowish is completely normal. But its suggested to replace a sonic brush handle approx. every 5years.

  The io version, as a 10-year user of the 5000 and then 1000 series and now a 1 year user of the io3, is wildly better. Gentler on gums while cleaning better and doesn’t drip toothpaste out the little hole on the base of the brush head. Quieter also.

  I had to get braces (3, almost 4 years) for the alignment due to jaw issues and the invisalign for retainers. My teeth are tightly spaced and the sonicare works really well getting things between them. The adult sonicare was about $100 way back when, then I bought the kid version (recharge-able one) for about $30 usd (was $45 with a $15 rebate). I use the compact head instead of the larger as it was more comfortable for me. I got my kids the battery operated ones for about $11 at christmas and these work well also.

  I actually ended up just replacing it with the Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser based on the user suggestion above. Really liking it so far. Only thing is, I wonder if I should have opted for the corded tank variant for even higher pressure options.

  Oral B vs Philips Sonicare - is the rounded electric toothbrush head better for you compared to the non-rounded?

  I watched a few seemingly independent small YouTubers and if it’s anything low end Oral B or Sonicare or better, it’s like within a 1-2% difference in quality of tooth brushing. The person even showed some of those cheaper $20 Oral B ones with the double head and it was way better than manual brush. Not to say that manual is bad, just the mid range tooth brushes are better.

  Phillips Sonicare and this is one of the few exceptions I’ll buy an extended warranty. The tip where the brush attaches usually starts rattling when it nears the end of the manufacturer warranty. I’ve purchased a couple over my life but in reality had around 5-6 brushes. They have been excellent about sending a replacement when this happens. I’ve never had an issue with the battery. It feels barbaric using a manual toothbrush until the replacement comes in.
