  Yeah, the super thin duvet cover problem is way more common than it should be, especially with oversized sizes. A lot of them feel nice at first but just aren’t built to handle regular washing or the extra pull from a bigger insert. Tbh with you the boring details actually matter alot more than branding. Dense cotton, solid stitching, and proper corner ties usually make the difference. Thread count doesn’t need to be crazy either. Mid range cotton that feels a little heavier tends to hold up better over time. Covers in the same category as thicker cotton sets like the [Pizuna style](https://deo9gr5ha90bn.cloudfront.net/?q=GMKAO1520) are tend to be what people keep long term. While yes they might not feel ultra soft on day one, but they soften with washes instead of thinning out or tearing. With oversized kings, weight and construction matter more than anything flashy. If it feels substantial and a bit plain, that’s usually a good sign.

  Where do you buy hotel-quality bed sheets and pillows without spending a fortune? I want my bed to feel like a Marriott stay.

  I manage a medium-term rental and have had great luck with these sheets from Amazon- I think I found them at r/vrbo. I always buy white so I can bleach any stains and it’s worked out great so far!   also to clarify, Percale is a type of weave, not material. Its tight, simple crisscross pattern leaves sheets cool and breathable. Look for the pattern on long-staple combed Egyptian or Pima/Supima cotton in the 400-600 count range and you’ll be in the lap of luxury with sheets that only grow softer after every wash. And you’ve still got a dozen affordable options like Pizuna, Pointehaven, L.L. Bean, Brooklinen, Caspter, etc. But if you want to save a few and settle for a bargain "ultra soft, brushed microfiber Percale sheets" you’re likely getting a synthetic polyester or rayon that leaves you in a pool of sweat.
