  Woman here! I chose my Portland leather bag (east/west config Lola) specifically because it doesn't have any kind of lining. It feels easier to clean out, and if my water bottle spills there isn't an extra layer holding moisture. I love feeling like I can actually use this bag and not be scared of damaging it, but it still looks really nice. It's large enough to hold a book, a water bottle, snacks, and whatever else I need day to day. I think it really just depends on the recipient.

  Portland Leather! I quit buying name brand bags and wanted some quality leather bags. I have been so happy the last few years with Portland Leather. I’m not sure I will ever purchase anything else. Love the quality and the price. Cannot praise this brand enough. I’ve had all of the bags. Portland Leather - I wish I would’ve found out about it sooner.

  I like portland leather. It has timeless styles and the leather is sturdy. The website gives lots of information about the leather they use, and will use different leather within a style. So if you like a smooth leather or a pebbly one, you have options. If you’re really on a budget, check out the almost perfect section.

  Great idea: Portland Leather Greater idea: book her a space in the build your own bag at Island Bags on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Technically will be made BY an American. Probably gonna need the accessories and care items like plane ticket, hotel room, etc but they are really great bags :) /s unless you’re flush

  I have a Portland Leather purse that I LOVE. I switch out the strap (I like different colorful guitar strap purse straps) on occasion, but it has a lovely patina now and is still tough and strong and beautiful. Worth every penny.

  Much lower than your budget at around $80, but I adore my Portland Leather bucket bag and get compliments every time I’m out with it. Buttery soft real leather and I like supporting a nice small business who has given great customer service. Worth showing her the site even if you end up with a fancier purse for the gift.

  Need a slim bifold for myself as my current wallet is out of shape

  I’ve been extremely happy with my Portland leather wallet. It was affordable and works really well for my needs. Pros- good leather, nice stitching after two years Cons- not lined- fine for a wallet but I wouldn’t get a bag from them.

  Portland Leather purses: Do they lose their shape over time? I’m between a Dooney and a Portland leather and can’t decide. But I hate when a purse doesn’t have good internal structure and loses its lines over time.

  I went through a Plg phase. The only one I really like is the cognac, and I have it in a structured shape (the camera bag). I've been carrying mine daily for probably 2 years and it looks great still. I have gone through several totes and the firm leather does hold up fine but the pebbled are squashy. If I wanted a squashy tote I wouldn't carry one so heavy. I'm also just Done with their marketing. D&B has a crazy amount of low quality diffusion products, so watch for that. If you can find some at consignment, like everything else, the old ones are better.

I have the larger wallet with a detachable crossbody strap and wristlet strap I love it because I can keep it in my larger purse as a wallet and convert it to a small crossbody when I'm traveling light.
