seriously, why do lower quality brands carry better designs?
Portland Leather Goods is reasonable quality, not overly pricey, full grain leather with lots of choices. These won't be Coach leather, but they're good sturdy work horses.

Portland Leather purses: Do they lose their shape over time? I’m between a Dooney and a Portland leather and can’t decide. But I hate when a purse doesn’t have good internal structure and loses its lines over time.
I have three bags from them, but I did buy them probably over 5 years ago now. I feel like people should understand that these are quite "rustic" bags. They don't have painted edges or complicated structure. I have the Classic Tote Small in Merlot, Mini Crossbody in this smooth dark green, and a Crossbody in a brushed grey. These have all generally kept their shape, but some of the leather does soften somewhat. The brushed grey has softened the most. There's not really much "shape" to lose in these particular designs though honestly. Like they're very simple. I haven't purchased any of their newer cuts. I stay away from the pebble, personal preference. My Merlot color has stood up the most. It's very unmoving. Almost annoyingly so. Like I was waiting for it to relax a little and it doesn't.

Yes, definitely pay attention to the specific leather material. I got the mini crossbody tote in a pebbled material because I like the slouchy look. But I also think a different style would also hold lines better than the mini crossbody tote-- seams impart structure, and there aren't many seams on this particular style

I love my Portland leather bag, I have the tote. It’s almost 5 years old & still smells like leather inside. It’s also a manageable weight, Dooney purses can be so heavy.
