Which is the best electric tortilla maker for daily cooking?
It’s a major advantage for flour tortillas. You can’t just put the dough in a press like you can with corn masa, the gluten or something pushes back. You have to get out the rolling pin, clear off, clean, and flour enough counter space. Something like a Presa Pan, you can just put a ball of dough in it, and because it cooks while you’re pressing, it works with wheat flour.

SAME! I even buy up others at garage sales and thrift stores for when I need parts. The amount of cheese grating time I've saved. Let alone squash from my garden. It has absolutely been worth it. I looked online and any new versions or knock offs are still way too expensive. I'm content with mine anyways.

like these [https://duxtop.org/](https://duxtop.org/) they work not by directly heating the pan like an electric resistance "burner" but they induce eddy currents in the cookware. They're way more efficient than electric resistance and given the push to get rid of gas stoves and also to become more energy efficient, I have a feeling they're going to be the wave of the future. Unfortunately, they'll only work with cookware that's magnetic - if the cookware isn't attracted to a magnet, the induction "burner" won't be able to induce those currents that produce the heating effect in it either. So while my old cast iron and carbon steel stuff will work fine, some other traditional cookware won't - solid aluminum (e.g. Magnalite, Club), non-magnetic stainless (Revere Ware) or even the fancy solid copper pots and pans won't work on induction. Some manufacturers are taking steps to future proof their products however, I believe that some All-Clad is advertised as induction capable, and I'm pretty sure you can buy Presto and All American pressure canners (which are traditionally cast aluminum) that have magnetic stainless plates in the bottom. That's why I made the comment that I did. The workaround that I alluded to is a plate that goes between the cooktop and your skillet or pot that is ferromagnetic, like this [https://www.nordicware.com/products/heat-tamer-and-stove-adapter-plate/](https://www.nordicware.com/products/heat-tamer-and-stove-adapter-plate/) basically, the cooktop heats the plate, and the plate transfers the heat to your cookware.

What’s a kitchen item you bought once and never had to replace?
I bought a Presto griddle - the type for pancakes, bacon, etc, for $5 at a thrift store almost 20 years ago. I use it every Sunday for pancakes and bacon. I wish they still made the same model, but these things are pretty bulletproof from a design standpoint. The only thing that makes me consider replacing it is that the surface has some places where food tends to stick. But it's a pretty minor annoyance.

house portable heater that lasts you?
Presto HeatDish (non oscillating model). Zero moving parts (aside from the knob you turn to turn it on). You need to modify them to remove the safety feature where it makes a buzzing sound if you lift it up (or if it's on uneven ground), but after you do the mod, it's good to go.

Energy efficient space heater
I picked up a parabolic infrared heater from Costco (Presto brand) after hearing about them a couple years back. Background: I work out in my basement in the morning and past heaters would come up to temperature about near the end of my workout making them hard to justify or I start them earlier before my workout. With this thing, it works by warming the objects and the heat comes on easily under a minute. It worked so well I went back and bought 2 more.
