  Looking for a good vinyl player

  Depends on your price, but if you’re trying to keep it under $500 or so, I highly recommend a Fluance base model. I started with that, then eventually upgraded the platter to acrylic, and then the cartridge. It’s the best sounding audio player I have if I’m using headphones (Sennheiser IE700s or HD800s). You may have also seen Pro-ject, which are okay, but by far don’t compare to the Fluance imo (I’ve owned both). I doubt I’d upgrade to anything else under $2000 range.

  Saying no budget is extremely unhelpful. You can spend $250, or $100,000. Also, it's the only piece of audio gear you touch all the time. Suggest you go look at different appearances and features. The more you spend the less features it will have. Start off by looking at the Pro-Ject lineup. They have turntables anywhere from $250 up to about $15,000. More than any piece of audio equipment, looks and feel are vital.

  Any turntable in the $500+ range should be fine. They have replaceable parts and most can be "upgraded," as you decide to. I have the Project Debut Carbon Evo in red and I recently replaced the platter with an acrylic one and the stock cartridge with a more expensive one. It sounds better to me and it measures better, but ultimately these things are subjective.

  Since you are in the UK, I'd suggest Rega because they are a UK brand so there are probably loads of used options available. If new, then Rega, and Pro-ject will be your friends towards the lower, beginning part of spectrum. They can get to the higher levels as well, but more options open up with a bigger wallet.

  Absolutely LOVE our Pro-ject Debut Carbon EVO. Basically bottom of the audiophile / top of the hobbyist categories. Comes with a pretty decent Sumiko stylus too, that's super easy to swap for an upgrade!

  Audio-technica AT-LP60 is decent but above that price is better. Like others have said Pro-ject is good, Rega is good. Look for turntables with an adjustable counter weight, easily changed stylus and head shell, anti-skate control and at least 45 and 33 1/3 rpm capabilities. The more automatic the turntable usually the lower quality it is. Best of luck.

  Project makes some excellent turntables. The Pro-Ject T1 EVO is a great option. I have their Debut Carbon Esprit and have been heavily using it for going on 8ish years. Sounds great, looks great and is easy to work on for when the eventual needle/cartridge swap is needed. If you are on a budget look into some of the offerings from Audio Technica. Even the LP60 is decent little table and easy to operate. Sounds pretty good too, of course that is heavily dependent on the rest of your setup.

  If there is a local dealer it's always nice to go to them because they can have suggestions based on what you want out of it (Easy listening, Audiophile quality, DJing etc). I went down and talked to someone local and got the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. It's super simple with little that can go wrong. Main thing is that it comes with a really nice stylus, which is the main component you're going to care about for quality. It was $400 8 years ago and nothing has gone wrong since. From there you can get decent tuners or amps at a thrift store. Just keep an eye out for brands you would recognize (Sony, JVC, Pioneer, Technics). One thing not to cheap out on is speaker wires. Get the big fatty ones, you'll notice the difference in sound quality. Good luck!!

  Project or Rega in the UK for under 1000 pounds. You’ll also need speakers and a receiver to power the speakers. You can also get powered speakers. Go to r/turntables and put in your budget, size of room and any specifics you might have.
