Best Carry On Luggage for 2026?
Proteca is my absolute go to. A Japanese brand, it’s the high end version of ACE. The cheap yen makes them a bit of a bargain. Alternatively, I’ve been really impressed with Away. We bought one for our kids about 5 years ago and it’s held up better than our Rimowas and as well as the Protecas.

10 years ago I switched from Rimowa to a Proteca suitcase and I've never looked back
I just bought one at this shop right near Shinjuku Station–Protecas are also sold at the nearby Keio Department Store, but this was just a great little shop. 10 years ago I switched from Rimowa to a Proteca suitcase and I've never looked back
I bought the exact same model (medium) a month ago in Kobe while researching online for made-in-Japan luggage and came across this reddit feed. That pretty much made me decide on it after reading your review. So far, I only used it once. Hope it will last me 10 years at least, as I am not a frequent traveller. P/S Now that you mentioned how near-impossible it is to remove the 'made-in-Japan' sticker, I will just leave it as it is!
