Women’s long wool coat
Long coats like these are some of the most expensive pieces of clothing you can buy new simply because of how much raw material they use. Think about how much of your body they have to cover coupled with their thickness. A high-quality, thick, 100% cashmere coat like you’re describing can easily be $2k if not more, wool easily $1k. That being said, these are also some of the hardiest pieces, so it’s very easy to find them secondhand in thrift stores for MUCH cheaper than buying new, less than $100 easily. If you’re not married to the idea of 100% wool or cashmere, you can find plenty of nice new polyester-wool blend coats in your price range pretty easily as well. Quince has a great 90% wool, 10% cashmere long coat for $200 but the lining is 100% poly. Banana Republic has an Italian Wool blend top coat that goes on sale pretty often.

Women’s long wool coat
Schott has nice 30inch long 24oz slim peacoat [here](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/womens-wool-peacoat.htm). $498 Macys has a few brands like London Fog, which have good long coats. Quince has some good coats too. Other than that, Artizia also has some good coats.

Reasonably priced natural fiber clothing
I shop on Vinted for clothes because natural fibers are so pricey. Pact are good for leggings and basics, Dillinger, smartwool, and icebreaker for merino, I also have a few 100% merino wool tops by karrimor that I love love love. I found them in a massive clearance sale on sports direct and got four black and four grey tops. But I’d happily buy them again even if they weren’t on sale. Had them for nearly two years now and they look new. The leggings didn’t hold up as well, but I also wore them nearly daily for two years ago. Son de flor make the most amazing linen dresses and I got all of mine exclusively on Vinted for £45-80 each over the last year and a half. It’s probably my all time fav clothing brand. Uniqlo have good basics that are natural as well, and I heard good things about quince but haven’t tried them myself. If you don’t mind bamboo viscose, I have leggings from fishers finery that are ace. The crotch area seams aren’t amazing now that I’ve abused them in the gym and wore them all the time, but they lasted well over a year as well and have pockets! They’re a mid of bamboo viscose, organic cotton, and some elastane, but it’s hard to escape elastane unless you buy 100% merino.

Little luxuries or upgrades that you made this year that makes your everyday better?
I just got the $50 cashmere from Quince, and my expectations were not high but I was pleasantly surprised. I have long arms and the sleeves are long enough, it's soft and a nice weight, and the fit is good. I'm not sure how well it'll hold up but it's worth the cost just for the fit.

Just saw a lot of people promoting merino wool here
I’m in my late 30s and wasn’t taught to mend clothes either— I hope my comment didn’t come off as judgment as you. I for sure meant it as judgment of the issue in its entirety. The only reason I know stuff now is it’s part of what I studied at university and was part of my first career. I personally hate TikTok so I can’t speak to that, but on instagram you can searching “sweater mending” and you’ll see a lot of neat videos. Another thing you can look up is “darning a hole.” At the very least this will give you a better idea of when something can be repaired vs when it cannot. Additionally, ask in neighborhood social media groups for tailor recommendations. Even better if you can find someone who does it out of their home and will tell you more specifically what they’re doing so you can learn! With respect to fibers, any type of wool is going to be preferable to synthetics. I used to describe wool to clients as looking like a coarse hair with split ends under a microscope; the lower the quality, the more split it would be. Higher quality will be smoother and more comfortable against your skin. Always launder sparingly, inside out, ideally in mesh bags. After washing, lay the item on a towel and roll it up, then unroll to lay flat and dry. That will reduce shrinkage, retain shape, and help the fibers return to how they were when you purchased the garment. Whenever possible, buy wool items second hand, preferably from the 90s or older. Why? Because companies have shifted to looser weaves and blends of minimal wool with other fibers (often acrylics). Those won’t hold up as long, are less cozy, and generally lesser quality. A good rule of thumb when buying new: if it seems too good to be true, it is. Quince is a great example of a brand that does have *some* good stuff, but their so-called silks and wools leave something to be desired

Sweaters for sensitive skin
Sounds just like me! Have you tried cashmere? It usually works for me, especially if I wear an undershirt. Plenty of secondhand options out there if buying new is too expensive. If you do go this route, secondhand is better than cheap cashmere (for example, Quince cashmere was incredibly itchy on my skin). I’ve also recently purchased a merino wool jacket and because that’s not directly next to the skin it’s been fine as well. Cotton is another great option though not as warm (but there are some cotton / silk blend sweaters out there that would be slightly warmer).

Wife wants a high quality leather purse for Christmas (NOT “luxury” brands)
Not a fan of luxury brands either but recently went to the outlet and bought a leather Michael kors purse for $100. I keep one bag in my closet at a time and it's been 7 years since I'd bought one. I removed the MK tag that hangs off and there's just a small metal portion with the name which I don't mind. I went to a few different bag stores at the outlet and I liked Michael kors the best because I could find options that didn't scream the brand name loudly. Also never tried these bags but onequince has leather bags available I considered before purchasing mine at the outlet. Imo they are still expensive for not being any type of brand name but claim to be genuine leather. Doc martens also sells leather purses sometimes that maybe your wife is interested in.

Big fan of Clementine Silk pillowcases (and their pajamas) - they're way thicker and softer than my blissy and quince silk pillowcases and still 100% organic mulberry silk, so the quality feels way better. Where do you buy hotel-quality bed sheets and pillows without spending a fortune? I want my bed to feel like a Marriott stay.
We've been married for 26 years. We generally have one set of sheets that I wash every week or so and immediately put back on the bed. So, continual use, not sheets that get breaks in the closet. Over those years we've had maybe six sets? Our first set was from Macy's Charter Club. I think we had them 10 years! Three of the sets were from Costco and Sam's Club. Those sets held up well. As others said, stay away from microfiber. That is hot garbage. We had (briefly) one set of those. My favorite is our current from Quince. We are headed into year three with them. They were not expensive, feel great, are holding up very well, and fit our deep mattress. I would purchase them again (but don't need to)! Linen is generally cooler than sateen IME. We’ve got a few linen sets for summer. Using them now. Some are thicker than others and some lint a helluva lot in the dryer. Buffy’s hemp linen sheets feel robust but they’re not as soft as Quince or Parachute. I hated the Brooklinen set we tried.

Small suitcase for college
I would look at Travel Pro or Samsonite soft side international sized bags if you can get them in India and must have the tech pocket in the front. The tech space in them takes up less space than in a hard side suitcase. Also maybe it is just me but while I thought I would like the hardside bag with the laptop pocket I decided it was easier if I just kept that in my personal item bag. I also have a carryon suitcase from Beis, and I like it a lot. They make a smaller international size suitcase now so I would look at that. I really like my Beis carryon on and I have zero complaints. The wheels are nice, the handle is padded, I rarely have to use the extension panel. I have a large hardside suitcase from Away and I am super happy with that case as well. I had to replace a handle and they sent me one quickly and haven’t had a problem since. Their carryon suitcases get a lot of love. Quince also makes a duplicate of the carryon for about $150. I have heard good things about Monos as well but I don’t own one.

I love the LLBean percale but the edges always fold in the washer. It becomes permanent even though I straighten before drying. I’ve even tried ironing just wrinkled edges and the wrinkles still return. Eventually they begin to fray at the folded edges of the wrinkles. Bummer. They are super comfortable. Recently tried Quince and happy with theirs so far.

IDK, I find sheets to be extremely subjective. I have a set of Quince Sateen sheets and a set of Brooklinen Percale sheets. I really like sleeping on sateen so I use the Quince a lot but on warmer evenings percale is cooler and nice. I think both of these sheets are good quality "mid-range" sheets.
