  Quoddy makes more women’s styles. Subu or Bedrocks for slip-on type of shoes. Grenson, Tricker’s, Crockett and Jones, Rolling Dub Trio, etc., for everything else. Carmina if you can find anything that’s not made in the last couple years. Definitely look for the Japan-based shoemakers too, sizing is usually unisex. There is a thread on r/Goodyearwelt for women’s shoes.

  Gift for the man who has it all

  What’s your budget? Some ideas: A really nice pair of slippers or boat shoes. Look at quoddy or similar brands. Cool pair of retro or deadstock sunglasses from brands like persol or Rayban. A classic watch. Something unique. A cool sculpture or painting. Something that feels meaningful to him. Could even be a nice framed classic movie poster. All of these ideas range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

  What is the longest lasting house slipper?

  I love Quoddy. I’ve bought them for years. I’ve heard some of their newer offerings aren’t made in Maine and can’t comment on those. Their handsewn work made in Maine is great. I’ve had a few pairs long enough to resole.

I am very happy with the quality. That said, the Easymoc and Oakstreet Bootmakers versions are particularly nice and resoleable as well. Definitely size down as they will stretch to conform to your feet. Cheers.

  Request: mens' indoor/occasional quick outdoor slippers that are warm and good at wicking moisture (and aren't LL Bean Wicked Good)

  Quoddy. They’re more $ because they are made in ME and hand stitched, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about their products. Bean’s quality isn’t what it used to be unfortunately.

  Looking for good dress shoe with removable insoles and repairable sole

  Depending on the size of your insole you may be able to fit it in some shoes without removable insoles if you size up half a size. Allen Edmonds can be a good place to start since they offer a range of widths and have a lot of physical stores where you could go to try on shoes without removable insoles your insole. Another possibility is having a custom dress shoe orthotic made. I also use custom orthotics in many shoes and have one pair that is rigid and very thin that I use with dress shoes/boots that don’t have removable insoles. Also, many dress shoes (especially slip ons) only have a sock liner (insole) at the heel that is glued down and could be torn out if necessary. For Venetian loafers, you could also take a look at some of the Maine moccasin makers like Quoddy and Rancourt. For expensive but well made lace up shoes, you could check out some of the removable insoles your insole options from Alden shoes. There should be some shown on the official Alsennstore site and at Moulded Shoe. Finally, I’ve seen a lot of posts raving about the comfort of San Antonio Shoes (SAS) but I’ve never tried them as I don’t like the look.   GF wants to by Ugg boots. I feel like she could do better. What are some BIFL alternatives to ugg boots?

  First, like everyone else, I'll say just get her what she wants. That being said, I've always seen [these Quoddys](http://www.quoddy.com/collections/womens/products/twinstrap-boot) as the bougie, handsewn version of Uggs.
