What’s something you’ve bought once and never had to replace?
The second I bought more than 1-3 pairs of shoes for every situation: all my shoes started lasting an absurd amount of time. Like I can’t even remember a pair of shoes I threw out, minus like busting a flip flop beyond glueing back. It’s had to be a decade at this point. Also, took some 80’s cowboy boots out my dad’s closet that he never wore recently. I bought some wranglers. I’m pretty stoked to have something other than my bean boots for colder weather. And all my ex work boots cuz I need steel toes now. All Goodyear welted. I probably have 4 pairs of sneakers and only wear 2 often. I beat the shit out of every sandal/flip flop I get my hands on. I recently bought a pair of molehinders and regret not finding the cheaper alternatives on Etsy beforehand. I’m currently using a random pair of quicksilver flip flops after coming from rainbows and Birkenstocks. Always ruin them somehow. I’m hoping to try bedrock sandals soon. I think it’ll fit the bill.

Reef Flip-Flops aren't even "Buy It For Now"
+1 for Rainbows, but I really came to say you’d have a better experience with Reefs that aren’t $35-40 off Amazon. I’ve had reefs last me years, and I’ve also seen Reefs on cheap store racks that are far less quality than their top tier. You get what you pay for. Reefs or Rainbows in the $75-80 range will serve you better.

Reef Flip-Flops aren't even "Buy It For Now"
Love my rainbows, but they don’t last “for life” they last a long time, and I love them. But I’ve been through a few pairs, it’s more “buy it for their lifespan not yours”

Reef Flip-Flops aren't even "Buy It For Now"
I don’t know if anyone recommended rainbows in your last post but those puppies have lasted me years and are ultra comfortable. Get the thicker layered ones.

My birthday is coming up. What brand of Sandals should I ask for?
Flojos, Reef or Rainbows

Rainbows. Best sandals money can buy. I know you stated a preference for gladiators but I really hope you give flip flops a chance. They’re the most comfortable imo

Brands you swear by that have Buy It For Life quality products
Rainbow Sandals. My first pair (from high school) lasted over a decade. I've had no luck since with slip on sandals lasting more than a summer or two, and. Y2K is back in style, so I figured it's time for my second millennial phase. Best purchase I've made this year!

Rainbow Sandals are now made in China
Rainbow Sandals still makes sandals in America. They have the Signature Series and The Americana. Moreover, some of the leather double layer and single layer in the standard collection are made in San Clemente. Used to wear them for years, but have been on an Island Slipper kick for several years. Made here in Hawaii and very comfortable.

I literally live in my flip-flops; what brand is genuinely odor-proof, even after being put through the paces (so to speak)?
I've had Rainbows that never smell and seemingly show no signs of wear for years.

My leather flip flops have been much better than any rubber/foam ones. Rainbows are probably as close to BIFL as it gets. I prefer Sanuks but don’t find them particularly durable. But the real issue is wearing them daily for long periods in bad weather. Get at least 2 pairs, rotate them, let them dry.

Searching for a Great Pair of Flip Flops - Reefs?
Agreed. I’ve found that Rainbows last waaaaaay longer than Reefs. Tevas would be an upgrade too IMO.

Searching for a Great Pair of Flip Flops - Reefs?
Live in Hawaii where we take these things seriously. Personally, been on an Island Slipper kick. They are made in Oahu and are seriously comfortable. Bit over $100, but there are tons of promos and discounts. Be careful about signing up for emails as they are way too aggressive and had to unsubscribe. Olukai has their partisans, but don’t dig how much the empathize the Hawaii thang while being made in China. Rainbows are pretty damn durable as well.

they claim rainbow flip flops last forever. These Fossils are literally Fossils LOL.. these were my first pair of flip flops. These are 20+ years old.
Rainbows are definitely just about BIFL. I bought mine in '06 and wore them incessantly when I was in San Diego. Much less use in PDX, but they're still kicking with only minor foot imprint.

Growing up in a beach city, standard attire was rainbows. If you didn’t have rainbows at school you were a nobody.. lol I wore them 350 days a year, all day long, working on yachts, sailing, surfing, etc. I think I had my best pair last two years. At a certain point you need to have a second pair for your “dress rainbows” for special occasions, dates, major holidays, etc. When I wasn’t in rainbows I was wearing Vans Classics.

Best simple, not overly-engineered shoe for walking 12k steps/day?
I basically lived in Rainbows for years, decades even when I was younger. Yes they last a long time. I never got 12 years, more like 3 or 4 for me, but we may have been walking on different surfaces. Plus the leather footbed would dry and crack in tha timeframe too, for me at least. Maybe I should have treated them better, idk. I'm a bit older now and I can't do that every day anymore, my feet hurt lol, so if you're still young enough to go daily with that little support underfoot then enjoy it while it lasts. Either way, like I said, they don't last for "life". But then footwear usually doesn't. I also always felt like my Rainbows were good value for the use that they gave me.

Best simple, not overly-engineered shoe for walking 12k steps/day?
My rainbows went 12 years before they were too dangerous in wet conditions from being worn slick. Wore every day each summer. Not BIFL but pretty good for $50 or whatever they cost
