Remarkable Tablets are BIFL
These arent just cybersecurity updates and compativility updates for drivers and things, though. They are actually making my device as functionally equivalent to the newest models as possible. I dunno, Ill do an update in another 8 years and see how we are getting on. Ive certainly never had a laptop last 8 years in good form.

Remarkable Tablets are BIFL
My 2018 ipad pro does not feel old at all either, apart from the aged battery. And still gets updates too, and the cpu on it is still a beast for such a thin 7 year old device. I would not say it is BIFL because of that. IMO tech lasting 10 years should be the norm (even though it sadly is not for many brands).

What did you wish you had at 21?
The best gift I received around that age was a Roth IRA with $500. The thing I wish I had (if it existed back then) was an e-ink tablet (like the Remarkable, Supernote or other option). My Remarkable was incredibly helpful when I went to grad school later, and I wish I'd been able to use it for undegrad. Once I finished my master's, I gave mine to my sibling who was still in school.
