  Hair dryers? What should I be looking for?

  I ended up with a mid range model from Remington and it did way better than the no-name I had. It wasn’t $400 but it had enough power and settings that my hair dried faster and didn’t feel rough. I also liked that it came with a concentrator nozzle so I could shape my drying better.

  https://a.co/d/5CtTXgo Not sure if links work, I've been using the Remington vacuum trimmer for my entire face for over 5 years now. It's amazing and leaves next to no hair on my sink either. Close enough shave that I just have a 5 o'clock shadow.

  Closest shaving hair clippers?

  I've been extremely happy with my Remington Self Haircut Trimmer. https://a.co/d/ifa8mR5 The curved blade seems like a gimmick but is actually nice and the palm sized shape of it makes it much easier to use on myself. I use a #0 guard (1/16") but it works fine with no guard as well. I'm on my second in about a decade so not quite BIFL, but you won't be buying a new one every year either.

  What are your favorite niche BIFL items that are currently available?

  Man, about 20 years ago I bought a Remington beard trimmer, and it works just as well today as it did then with no maintenance in the meantime beyond battery replacements. I know this isn’t exactly what you’re after, but I bought it for life!

  I’ve used mine since 2017. Cut my hair every 2 days in the shower. It’s just now starting to die on me. Had to order replacement #3 combs last year since the housekeeper dropped it and broke the plastic.

  Yeah, totally. Those €150+ clippers can be great, especially for barbers or if you’re doing full fades and detailing. But for basic maintenance and 3–6mm all-over cuts, the Remington should be more than enough. It’s a solid workhorse and way better than the cheap drugstore stuff. Hope it works out for you!

  Remington Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Trimmer Kit It's cordless, and It has a unique curve design that makes doing my own haircuts soooo much easier than a straight clipper. I've been using this exclusively for my weekly touch-ups (military) for 4 years now. I'd otherwise be paying about $1,200/year on haircuts, so I've saved literally *thousands* at this point

  amazon budget beard trimmer choices?

  I’m into the Remington NE3160. It runs on a single AA and lasts a long time. Easy to travel with. $15 I think. It only broke because I didn’t have it packed very well in my luggage. Thought I’d upgrade, buy something nice. Bought another Remington. Not exactly BIFL but I’ll buy them for the rest of my life if I need another one.

  Remington website sells spare guide combs for most of their clipper. Very inexpensive and you can buy just the ones you use. I bought three which should last me a while.

  Yup, Remington sells spare guide combs and other parts for all their clippers and related products. Eventually all guide combs fail, usually they wear out and stop snapping into the head and fall off too easily. Just go to the Remington website, find your model and click spare parts. They did a great job setting up their website and offering the spare parts.

  I have this as well. Bought it in 2017. I cut my hair very tight and use the #0 guard. Unfortunately, the guard does not hold in place very well after many years of use. I am looking for a new replacement guard. I have not seen one yet. The clipper itself works great. I like that it is relatively small which makes clipping easy around ears and such.

  Any recommendation for pubic hair trimmers

  I purchased a "Remington Head to Toe Advanced Rechargeable Powered Body Groomer Kit, Beard Trimmer (10 Pieces), 6.3 Inch" (Amazon title) well over 10 years ago (probably at a Walmart or Walgreens) and it's still going strong. I have rarely nicked myself and that's only if I'm trying to rush. Do not buy any trimmer from Wahl.
