I never want to buy cookware again
Have a nice set of Cuisinart for about 20 years and very happy. Have some classic Revere that we've had for 40 years and still GTG. The real BIFL is cast iron though.

Still using these too! I prefer my cast iron skillets, but using my Revere ware skillet is a must if I’m specifically looking for fond to be left in the pan. My cast iron is too non-stick at this point!

What brand / type of pots & pans are worth investing in as a young adult?
Wow, you’re so fortunate to have received those pans, although my sympathies for the reason. I believe they’re seeing some movement as a collector’s item, like Revere. But because they were widely available back in the day, it’s still common to find them inexpensively. Maybe $20-$50, depending on the size & whether it has the matching lid? I scooped up a random saucepan I saw at Goodwill for $0.75 and felt like a thief, lol. About the aluminum bottoms, I’ve accidentally scorched mine but they come back like champs with very little TLC. If a scrubby and the dishwasher doesn’t solve it, a soapy SOS pad will. I hope I’m not answering too casually. I love them because they’re not the sexiest pans to look at, but are truly BIFL workhorses. You may want to clean up one or two and put them into rotation to see if you like cooking with them!

Old style revere is amazing. I went to a factory closing sale. I was 8 and my mom bought me a pot for when I was older. When 10 years later I took it she was sad. It's a pasta pot with a spout and is the most used pot to this day in my house.

I have Revere pots that are probably more than 40 years old, and they are still used weekly. I never think about them. They are just reliable workhorses. Love my cast iron, too. Have 80 year old hand me down and a few garage sale pieces I rehabbed. Added three Le Creuset pieces over a number of years when I lived near an outlet center. Two Dutch ovens, medium and large, and a large brasier.

Stainless steel cookware recommendations?
I have reveres and they are amazing. I don't think they are in business anymore, but if you come across them thrifting etc., maybe grab it. I've had mine for 7 years and I'm pretty sure they will last forever. I use Barkeepers Friend to scrub them and they shine like new everytime.
