  Merino wool base layers - which are the most durable?

  I really like ridge merino. I have a bunch of their solstice sun hoodies, two hyde full zip hoodies, and some hyde joggers. I went with their hyde full zip hoodie after ordering from a bunch of different brands and comparing them back-to-back.

  The Darn Tough of boxer briefs?

  I went a bit crazy 2 years ago and bought a bunch of different wool boxer briefs looking for the point6 of boxer briefs (I prefer point6 to Darn Tough) My rankings: 1. Ridge Merino, runs smaller than others, they look brand new after 2 years, comfortable, no complaints whatsoever 2. Wool and Prince, runs slightly smaller than say Kirklands, held up great, waistband ever so slightly digs into my skin, suffers from the “bacon effect” in the waistband after a wash but smooths out after putting on. 3. Icebreaker, runs slightly small, comfortable but have pilled a bit and shows wear, won’t last another year 4. minus33 Woolverino, runs large, the most comfortable to me but not durable at all, finally ripped through the crotch of both pairs after about a year of sporadic wear. Long underwear has been the same unfortunately. Oddly enough, have not tried the point6 boxer briefs lol. Unfortunately, I think this is all so personal to each wearer that the only way to pin it down is to try a bunch. I read a lot of people having issues with briefs riding up and I’ve never really experienced this with any briefs.

  High quality sweaters and hoodies - suggestions?

  I have a couple Ridge Merino hoodies that I pretty much wear every day in the winter. They've been through the washer and dryer dozens of times, and they show no signs of wear. The ones I have are thin, so make good layers. It's comfortable under my Carhart when it's cold.

  Buy Once Cry Once items?

  Merino wool leggings. I wear leggings as my pants almost all the time. Because of the shape of my body and being active, most cotton or cotton blend leggings end up with the butt all permanently stretched out after the elastic woven into the fabric gives out, usually within a few months. Or they get faded. I don't like the look of most fully synthetic ones and I'm not willing to pay $$$ for something like Lululemon which is still just synthetic. Decided to give merino leggings a try. I bought one pair from Ridge Merino, they were on sale and cost me about $60. I loved them, wore them five days a week for about 6 months including hiking, errands, chasing toddlers. They held up sooooooo well except I got a size smaller than I maybe should have and eventually the elastic threads did the popping thing. However, they still fit okay after this happened! Just looked a little weird. They're also a lot more comfortable in various temperatures than cotton and don't get that weird stink like polyester. Now i have two pairs so I can alternate. I kept the old, more worn pair to use as a base layer under other pants. I find two pairs of merino leggings keep me nice and toasty if I'm active and moving. Got the next size up and they fit better. So, yeah. I'm sold. Two pairs of leggings have replaced almost all of my pants. Will be getting a pair of bike shorts for the summer to wear under dresses and long shirts.
