  We’ve had a Roborock Q7 Max+ for a bit more than two years now, and have been really impressed with it and in particular it’s navigation. I think all Roborock have a very similar navigation system, the newer Qrevo S seem to have all the same features and more and also be cheaper, but it’s probably a bit over budget still

  Our robot vacuum. I got it back in July (roborock) and it's been great. I only have to spot clean once or twice a week with our dyson. Another close second is Comma AI (third party add on for my car that adds lane assist to my Prius. ) it has made a huge difference on long road trips.

  Are Roborock cordless vacuum cleaners good?

  For the iRobot, I hated having to setup a bunch of obstacles to prevent it from getting stuck in the same places all the time, and this is way better now. I didn’t have a iRobot with the mop feature, so I can’t compare, but it does a great job on wood and tile floors. I have dogs that slobber, and it takes a time or two to get these up initially, but once it is on a schedule, it keeps the hard floors clean. The RoboRock can easily change between mop and vac for area rugs. The tank is easy to fill and the dirty water tank is quite dirty, so I can tell it is doing a good job. I got the Qrevo S5V when it was on sale for $500, and I’m happy with it.

  Agree on Roborock. If you go for one of the older models the price can get very compelling. I got a Q-Revo S on a cyber Monday sale last year for around $550.00 and it’s going strong. Trick is to keep the hardware/software updates current and clean it very thoroughly after every two or three cleaning sessions.

  - A robot vacuum is 100% worth the investment. I have the Roborock s8 maxV ultra and it auto empties after vacuuming plus washes and dries its mop and after mopping so I don’t have to do much apart from changing the water every few days. - A sweater/fabric shaver. I have the plug in version so I don’t run out of charge mid sweater. It’s by the Beautural brand on Amazon. It hasn’t given me grief and works well. - Stainless steel cookware by Misen. I bought these about 5 years ago and they’ve held up beautifully. They seem pretty similar to All-clad and significantly cheaper at the time. - A kitchen knife set by Mercer. I have the M23500 Renaissance and it’s held up quite well. I don’t have to sharpen them quite often and they’re comfortable to hold and use. They come in a glass case which is pretty to look at too, although if you had young kids you wouldn’t want the knife set out on the counter.

  All three are solid investments. Air fryer - get dual-basket for meal prep. Coffee - capsule if you want speed, automatic if you want better taste. Robot vacuum - Roborock or Eufy handle pet hair best. Cyber Monday ends today so perfect timing. You can grab all three under $700 easy with current sales.

  There is a sub dedicated to robot vacuum/mops. Easy to get overwhelmed with so many choices.  you will find a lot of discussions on Black Friday/cyber Monday deals, including by price range.  Most reputable brands are Roborock and Dreame.  Majority opinion is to buy from Costco or Amazon and get a warranty. Manufacturers are sketchy about repairs when you buy direct. You can get Roborock for about $50 less online but service is more important if there's an issue.

  We have been using a Roborock Q5 Max+ for a few months now. It could use improvement. - A Big design flaw I have noticed: If the rollers sucks something up (like a sock) and stops spinning, the robot will just continue to try to clean without the rollers spinning at all. It will attempt to clean your whole house like this, and actually clean nothing. - Every few weeks the robot will get lost and the map will completely reset and require a full restore. Hopefully you have a map backup or you'll be starting over on the map. -Every few months the docking station will get plugged up with something. - It can be really loud going over floor transitions or sometimes take multiple attempts to make it over. OVERALL: I like it a lot, couldn't imagine not having it, but this particular unit could use improvement.

It worked perfectly without any issues and it has been helping to keep my place tidy without much effort. Also very durable,You just need to know how to use the filter when searching for a good product online.

  LF recommendations for a mop/vac robo cleaner

  Got my first robot mop/vac combo: Roborock Q Revo. I would not recommend for the following reason: 1. Air tangle. I have to remove the wife's hairs on a weekly basis. Get something that doesn't get hairs tangled all over the roller/side brush. 2. Mop could be better. It's still amazing IMO, but I've seen much better mop capabilities in robots that came out after / higher in price. 3. I have to empty the dirty water and refill on a weekly basis. I'd recommend a system with the automatic refill / drainage. 4. Minor issue: I have to clean the drain pain on a monthly basis. Still nothing compared to having to mop myself. I love that there is no camera / microphone and the navigation is really good. I don't need another spying device rolling around my house. Already got the phone for that. The application is really good. My next robot would have the top 3 issues mentioned above and I'd recommend you start with these fixed when going for your first robotvac. I wouldn't be able to comment on the BIFL part. It's a device connected to the cloud that could fail anytime the company goes bust, the cloud service is down or they just decide to kill the device in addition to the mechanical part and battery that would inevitably age and die.

  I've had a roborock s8 pro ultra for 2 years. 5 things on it have broken \- Clean Water Tank latch \- the rubber gasket on the dock for the dust bin emptying channel goo-ified, \- the roller securing piece split (My fault I put it in wrong) \- the mop pad dovetail, \- the mop pad velcro panel Only the Clean Water Tank latch was unrepairable, but it is only minor inconvenience. Everything else was an easy fix with super glue.

  We have four roborock S7’s running in our 5,000 sqft office. Bought them since they first came out years ago. They run every day. We just replace the regular maintenance parts - rollers, mop pad, brush and clean sensors. Only last year did we replace the battery for all 4. Other than that, no issue at all, rock solid, very pleased that we also have them for our homes too. We are considering the Eufy S1 Pro with water hookups. We have wood floors and it would be nice to have a roller mop that cleans better than what roborock has. If Roborock has a roller mop with water hookups, we prefer to stick with them, the app is convenient and we like the product.

  Roborock S4 Max - Ordered 09/2021 and it's been running 3+ times a day (1 full house run at least) for the entirety of it's ownership. I've just not retired it to secondary floor duty (finished basement) for a Dreame L40 Ultra. My biggest issue isn't the vacuum itself, you can source parts for it (for the most parts) and I'm talking more than just consumables like the brush, filters, and arm bristles, like wheels for instance. However I took really good care of it. I cleaned everything out, and I mean took the vacuum apart to fully clean out the entirety of its internal parts, where hair and dust really build up, pretty much 2-4 times a year. I truly think that makes the difference. > Warning, rant ahead My issue with Roborock, or the actual company, Xiaomi, or really any vacuum in general. Why does issuing a command to my vacuum need to hit a cloud server before my vacuum? Why does saying "clean the kitchen" require an internet connection? Firmware updates, sure, phone home all you want. Processing images for a AI whatever? If I have that enabled, by all means, I don't expect a vacuum to be a hardware-accelerated processing unit. I run Home Assistant, I looked into Valetudo, invested in a Dreame and took it all offline. I'm digressing majorly from what you asked but I always think it needs to be said. Hardwarewise, I think iRobot still sells parts directly for their first-released robot vacuum. In my experience, I could source cheap knockoff parts for my Roborock/Xiaomi vacuum from Amazon / Aliexpress.

  Roborock is the best brand, but none of these brands are truly bifl. For one, they are mobile and full of electronics, something's gonna break inevitably. But also keep in mind that the tech keeps improving, with better vision models and sensors, so you probably don't want a 10 year old robot vac. I suggest to buy roborock from costco, it's a good brand and costco will give you some more return confidence in case something breaks earlier than expected.

  Another +1 for Roborock. It cleans my floors considerably better than our old Roomba that we had for years ever did. Also, Roomba bounce around but Roborocks follow a specific map to ensure it cleans the entire area. I also noticed it doesn’t get stuck like the Roomba did. There is always a great deal during Prime Days and Black Friday deals. I got mine 33% off. It was more expensive than the Roomba but worth the investment in my opinion.

  I was looking for this question and totally agree with the people below - I ran Roombas since the first one and finally switched over to Roborock (Qrevo Master). It mops. It actually mops and it works incredibly well. Even with the top-of-the-line Roombas, we had to repaint our baseboards annually due to scuffs. Not anymore. You think the mopping is a gimmick - but every time I dump out the water, it's filthy (and our house is spotless). 100% worth it. They have a new model that will even jump over doorway thresholds. Buy them on sale...

Roborock going strong for 3 years now, filters and brushes every so often and the mapping is great...except the one time the year old puppy shit in it's path. The older dog is a golden retriever...the struggle is real. There's golden glitter EVERYWHERE no matter what we do. The Roborock makes it look like we need to vacuum instead of like a dog exploded.

  Hi! I went with the Roborock Qrevo Slim! I really like it for the most part. I fits very well under furniture, and mops well. Do I use the mopping feature as much as I should though? No. The vacuuming part works well, but my dog’s hair does clog it often. I feel like if we didn’t have so much dog hair It would be a perfect product. But truly does help tremendously with keeping the floors clean.

  i have roborock s7+ultra about 3 years. what i don't like is the the bag setup and tunnel with all the turns to get the full dustbin of dog hair (2 labs) to the bag. if the bag is 1/2 full it doesn't have enough suction to empty the bin without help. besides that it occasionally gets lost. i don't use the auto water feature, it's easier to just change out mop pads and throw them in the washer and fill water rez manually and not smell the stinky dirty water bin. i'll replace the s7 if something better comes around but haven't found it yet

  Any Dreame gear actually worth it for Prime Day?

  I bought an L20 from Amazon in October, 2023. After 90 days, it started dropping the mop pads and refusing to clean. It took 5 months and dozens of emails to customer support for them to finally send me the new pads and backing parts it needed to fix. Since then, it's worked great. Customer support included their requests: \-to work through their troubleshooting steps, with my results in a separate email for every step. \-for uploaded videos to show me working through the troubleshooting a 2nd time. \-them sending me one replacement mop pad that did not fix the problem. \-requiring that I re-pack the whole 40 pound unit and accessories in the original box (1) and UPS it to Texas for repair. \-repeating all the above when Texas didn't do anything and returned the box to me 4 weeks later. At this point, I wrote a 1-star review on Amazon. I started getting Dreame emails telling me how smart and beautiful I was and what would it take for me to remove the review because "Alan" was up for his annual evaluation and my review would count against him. I asked for 2 mop pads and backs but refused to remove the review. \-received the requested parts and the vacuum started working again. \-continued to get emails about the review, offering me money to remove it. Ignored them. Over 6 weeks, they up'ed their offer to a $250 Amazon credit. I took it, specifying that I'd edit but not remove the review after the credit was received. I edited, leaving the original comments and adding the above history. In the interim, I bought a RoboRock QRevo from Costco that hasn't missed a beat since I unboxed it. It now lives upstairs and the L20 is downstairs. Dreame could have solved the problem at the jump for less than $10 but their AI algorithm is set to delay, hoping you will go away or die. It doesn't care which. TLDR: the L20 is dandy if you get one with working accessories. Heaven help you if you need customer support.

  I've had irobot, eufey, and roborock. None of them stopped working. They did get louder with time cause plastic parts, but they still worked the same. I don't see why you are having so many issues.

  My roborock is 7 years old and it's still great. The only thing that happened was the interior filter for the blower collected cat hair/dust. I had to take it fully apart. If you hear, "filter is clogged, please empty dust bin and clear the filter" then you need to do this. It's not hard, just a bunch of little screws. Googling the exact words found a video walk through. Frankly, it's probably a good idea to clear that every 5 years. It'll run better.

  I have a Roborock S6 bought in 2020 that is still working. I honestly think I prefer my old 2007 Dyson and it is superior at vacuuming but I do like the robot vacuum for regular cleaning.

  I‘m really happy with my roborock. I had the s5 max for the last 4(?) years and was really happy with it but decided to upgrade to the qrevo slim for all of it‘s functions. Now my parents have the s5 and are really happy with it

  The best vacuum money can buy?

  Caveat: I've only had it for a few days, but I'm in love with my Roborok S8 MaxV Ultra. Thing has already mapped my house, including obstacles. Can send it out for a quick lap whenever I feel anything on the floors and it mops, self cleans, empties and you can even set up routines such as 'deep clean every Sunday night'. I don't know yet if it's true BIFL but I'm very happy with the investment so far. I never want to manually mop or vac ever again.

  What are some items under $500 you’ve made so far that changed your life?

  I have the roborock S7 and I think it’s great. It’s my third robot vacuum and by far the best one. You still need to pick up clutter. But I just quickly toss things on the couch or whatever and then run it when I leave the house. I have the app and have barriers so it doesn’t go under my bed and a few dressers where it would get stuck. And I have the hard floors and carpets distinguished in the app so I could do carpets only. Mop only. Or both.

  The robovac - you said quality or BIFL and it's the former. If you buy a good brand like Roborock, it will be many years before you need to replace it and that would probably be because you want an upgraded one since these things are still evolving in what they can do. Also, probably not a forever item but a Vitamix blender. Goddamn expensive but can handle anything you throw in there, day after day too if you are a daily user. I never really liked to make smoothies and blend anything until I tried one and now use it every day so I guess for me it was life changing. Don't know if it's a forever item yet but the Steelcase Leap that's been recommended here over the years so far has been good to me. It's a basic chair but very durable and comfortable. If you want to save some money, just go to a used office furniture store, they more than likely have a few, you'll save around 400-600 bucks.

  I have a roborock s7 ultra. For some reason, I thought it was an s8. I don't know how the later models could be better, because  it's  pretty  perfect. It's  2 years old, and I don't know how long they're  meant to  last, but it's  miles better than earlier roborocks, robots and Narwal.  It's not the same as scrubbing or vaccuming with a cannister machine, but it  keeps  my home pretty dust and pet hair free with very little  effort. I wonder what the new ones do. I heard a rumor the Saros line will do your horoscope.

  I have a Roborock Q-Revo and it’s a full vacuum/mop with a dock. The prices vary a lot model to model and there are a ton, but the quality is great and even the cheaper or older models perform really well.

  Do smart home items really work in long term?

  It depends on your preference. I have quite a few smart home devices and one of the biggest issues I’ve faced is pairing. My internet (Spectrum) is pretty awful so I sometimes have to re-pair my smart devices with a hub, echo device or an app. That is the only downside side though. Nothing has broken down, everything works the way it’s supposed to. Except echo devices, they are absolute trash. For context I have the following smart home devices: - Roborock robot vaccuum & mop - Phillips hue smart bulbs - Yoolax blinds - Leviton motion sensors for lights & fan - Treatlife smart switches (So everything can be switched on or off remotely) - Nest thermostat You don’t need any of these things but they sure do save us a lot of time and energy (both physical and electric).

  Totally agree here. We had a Eufy robovac that didn't have mapping so we couldn't really just let it run wild. or we could but it wasn't particularly effective. Switched to a roborock w/ mapping and have the schedule set to clean the living room once the kids are at school and clean the kitchen and dining rooms at night, and then to clean the whole house ont eh weekends. Definitely doesn't **replace** manual cleaning outright, but as a maintenance tool its fantastic

  Best vacuum for pet hair?

  I have a German Shepard that puts my Roborock robot vacuum to the test daily for the past 5 years. We only pull out the big vacuum once a week. The new robot vacuums ones are much quieter, so I secretly want this one to die, but it won't. Who knew these things would last that long with daily use.

  These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025

  There's a serious design flaw with these cordless Dysons as that max mode seems to always go this way. I discovered on mine that it's basically the inner filter gets clogged up and needs to be deep cleaned or replaced or it will kill batteries over and over. I generally like the cordless Dysons because they're just so convenient to use. But the difficulty in repairing them, difficulty getting support from Dyson, and continuous consistent defects with the same battery and filter issues in all models in the past 10 years with no improvement leads me to not recommend them. They're also insanely expensive. I got a Roborock robot 2.5 years ago and it does 99% of the vacuuming in my house now. The Dyson I use from time to time still, then I have a Henry for the big dirty jobs - those things are tanks.
