  Top BIFL Household Items for Starting Over

  I am a sustainability educator and finding things that last are a bit part of that. I’ve done quite a bit of research on possible options. Some of these I have (*) while others have been HIGHLY recommended to me. I would still check out the brand as some people who have had their (insert brand name item that they got 15 years ago here) have said that quality has diminished in recent years and won’t last as long. Also if anyone has had bad experiences with any of these, please let me know!   Looking for espresso machine

  If you want easy and BIFL, get a nespresso pixie and one of their milk frothers. If you are going to get a semi-auto machine and grinder - keep in mind that its a hobby and it will be 6-8 months before you start pulling the kind of shots that you're proud of. Gaggia Classic, Profitec, Rancilio, Rocket, maybe Breville here. For grinder - Bartaza Virtuoso or Vario. On the fully auto side, Jura will probs be just outside your price range. Terra Kaffe TK-02 is. I own one (was a gift) and its fine but probably not BIFL.

  What home coffee essentials have held up and lasted you over time?

  Have had a Rocket Giotto Evoluzione V1 and Mazzer Robur for 12 years. Grinder has been solid. On the espresso machine I've replaced the pressure stat and have overhauled e61 parts once.
