I’ve had these Timberland boots for over 10 grueling New England winters, still going strong
I used waterproof Rocky boots before I retired. Found some with a composite safety toe, much more comfortable that steel toes for myself. Got a new pair every year with work allowance.

What was the BIFL upgrade that instantly exposed all your cheap versions?
I like Ecco but they don’t seem to make many high heels anymore. Rocky boots have served me well too. But I guess the problem with shoes is that styles change over time, so what I bought years ago doesn’t seem to exist anymore. If you buy for quality then they should last though.

An Ode to the Rocky S2V
Love Rocky S2V’s! Probably one of the best boots I’ve ever worn. I had two tan pairs and 1 black pair. I never wore the black ones in service though. Once I got out, I started a business in the marine industry. Always in the water, always in beaches or docks and just in damp areas being in the water. Eventually the tans just fell apart. Mind you, this was also after years of in-service. But this is where the black ones shined through. I switched to my black ones, rubbed a few good coats of polish into them, especially the mesh portion on the side and oh my. In my given climate, these boots excel. Typical Rocky comfort, but my feet never get damp, wet or cold. Kind of rough in the summer if the sun is beating down on them, you sweat like a wh*re in church, but that’s their only downfall. As per usual, never had a bad pair of Rocky’s. Amazing boots!

Work is paying for me to get snakeproof/waterproof boots, what wont immediately fall apart?
I've had 3 pair of Rocky Retraction snake boots for about 10 years, with no issues on any pair. Living as I do in rattlesnake country, I wear them basically anytime I'm going to be outside my house, except when I walk directly to my truck and leave. How did I get 3 pairs? In a nutshell: really good sale price and 2 family members with the same shoe size who bought some, and then decided they were too heavy, and gave me theirs. Goody for me, now I have three pairs to rotate in and out of service. Ten years in, all three pairs are still in very good condition. There is visible wear on the creases of the canvas but the waterproofing still holds, at least for incidental water and mud. Would they stand up to a full day's work in muddy, swampy conditions? Idk. They did new, but they're a long way from new now. Here's what works about them. They're still on duty with 10 years in service. They're tough enough to stand up to the brush and cactus on the place (they've never been snake tested, thank God) They have side zippers instead of laces, which has saved me a lot of time over the years. They have sturdy soles with great traction. Downsides: they are heavy. Also, being waterproof, they hold moisture in as well as out, so I am prone to have sweaty feet by the end of the day unless I change socks. This is where having multiple pairs helps, because a minimum of 2 days between wearings means I never have to start the day with boot still damp from wearing yesterday. If I only had 1 pair, I'd use a boot dryer overnight to dry them out for the next use. The next time I need a new pair of snake boots, if Rocky Retractions are still on the market, I'm getting another pair. Hope this helps.

An Ode to the Rocky S2V
I got a pair of Rockys at the "Fort Sales" at Ft. Leavenworth. Really lucky to have found them in my size (13). They'd hardly been worn at all and I think I gave $50. Worth 3x that, easy. Mine are full leather and black, built like tanks but somehow still very comfortable.

Black non slip work shoes for walking all day
Rocky Athletix is a great shoe for standing/walking on hard surfaces all day. Plus, the antislip and composite toe make them safer than a lot of the shoes being recommended.
