Thoughts on RRL overshirts/flannels?
I would say yes. The heavy pea style wool shirt I have is so dense and nice, feels like much better quality than any other wool shirts I have. When we were on the west coast, everyone was wearing them in the damp cool weather.

I’m looking for a sweater that will last me a long time & is very comfortable - an investment (:
Love this! I think a lot about sweaters… *Williams and Lockie.* Check out their chunky cardigans. A lot of these are re-sold at places like Drakes for substantially more. You can find them at A Hume UK. *Inis Meain.* Very high quality and beautiful materials. The cable knits are excellent but the whole offering is beautiful in texture and feel. *Aran Sweater Market.* A more cost friendly offering but won’t give you the same hand feel. The photos are terrible but the products are excellent. *Andersen Andersen.* A Nordic fisherman look, incredible sturdiness but requires tons of break in. *Jpress, Shaggy Dog.* The iconic sweater. This in gray or navy or oatmeal is an outstanding piece. Beautiful texture but can be a touch itchy if on hair skin. *Howlin.* Similar to the shaggy dog, but slightly trimmer fits and a touch softer. *RRL Cowichans or Cardigans.* Absolutely off the charts for patterns and materials. A true outspoken look but is very pricey and more of a fashion statement in most cases. *Granted.* recently out of business cowichan sweaters but probably on eBay. Amazing thick and great drape. Fun designs too. *Basics.* Banana republic. JCREW. Brook’s Bros. Todd Snyder. All going to be varying qualities and less of a life long piece, although still some good stuff. I have been impressed with BR actually. Especially their chunkier pieces.

Chinos in the UK - advice please
I’m a HUGE fan of Real McCoys Chinos, and RRL Officer Chinos. Both could be hemmed easily and cheaply purchasing them won’t be cheap. Both are sturdy and well made. But expensive. Basically, avoid anything with Elastane in and you should be fine if they fit nicely.

Flannel shirts that last
The Ralph Lauren brand RRL which is one one of their sub brands that does western wear and early 20th century look. Pricey but the sewing and fit is great. Get them used on eBay or Poshmark.

Does anybody have experience with Iron Heart clothing?
Wish they offered more roomier options. You would think their size XXXXL would be way too big but its just barely a size 50 in the chest. so if you're big & tall like myself, and have a small belly, it will be snug. I can usually wear my ultra heavy flannel closed when I haven't eaten a while, but after a big meal, I usually wear it open. For jeans, I was able to nail the sizing on my 21oz 1955S-OD Tag size 40 and 21oz 634S by contacting IH after I submitted my order and asked to find a pair that were closest to my measurements and they happily obliged by sourcing a pair that were 41 in the waist... I have massive calf and thighs so I am limited to only straight cuts. Ironhearts and 25oz Samurais are my absolute favorite fitting pair denim, followed by Studio D'artisan and RRL.
