A few brands I'll probably stick with for life
Madewell for jeans. Ruffwear for dog stuff. Seconding Patagonia. Darn Tough and Smartwool. Dyson (I’ve dropped one of their fans and my dog ate the remote and they still function perfectly despite looking rough). And an honorable mention to Ruggable: their customer service is exceptional.

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Gonna try to add some stuff not mentioned a hundred times already. Anything that you touch and interact with daily imo is worth getting something nice. Nice electrical switches. Yea the $2 switch will work, but the feel is better and those little details are more noticeable than you think. Same for cabinet and door hardware. Ruggables (or nice carpets in general, or cheaper carpets with good pads), specifically their plush higher pile carpets. Big upgrade if you walk around barefoot. Also great for acoustics, both in room and the room below. Insulation and air sealing. Doing this just in our attic dropped our aux heat usage by 70% and now we get through winter mostly on a single stage heat pump. Radon mitigation. One, peace of mind. Two, less humid basement and still cheaper than a built in dehumidifier. A two for one, and if it breaks it's just a fan to replace.

We have a ruggable. They are expensive and not my favorite patterns, but it’s easy to wash and has held up. We’ve had ours for 2ish years and wash it 2-3 times a year at the laundromat.

I love mine! I’ve got a big Ruggable in my entryway and it’s survived two years of muddy paws and the occasional spaghetti incident. I’ve tossed it in the wash at least a dozen times and it still looks as good as new.

I bought a small version of the new design to give it a try. If I still love it after lots of use, I think I'll replace my older Ruggable rug with the newer thicker design.

I have mulitple dogs and can swear by Ruggable rugs. Machine washable, easy to care for, and can put up with hijinks from a corgi and a shab (shepherd/lab mix). We got runners to help the older dog (the shab) with traction (we have smooth floors). We liked them enough we ended up getting the area rugs. Also, if I've personnaly found their customer service to be pretty good.

In search of rugs (for house with dog and cat)
Ruggables at Costco right now. I used to have thick nice expensive wool rugs but with dogs and people spilling stuff, the cost for cleaning was ridiculous. A washable rug has been a game changer in my house.

Are ruggable rugs worth the price? How is their quality
I love my Ruggables but they are a bit on the pricey side. Had to buy a few rugs for a new airbnb I’m renting out and tried Rugmeup despite seeing some bad experiences online (I think they are a newer startup) but the rugs I got are fantastic and look and wash just as good as my Ruggables. No rug pads included though :( , but can get that from Mayfair or Ikea

Yea look at Ruggable or other like washable rugs. They detach from the backing making them thin enough to throw in the washing machine. I’ve got one under my kitchen table over hardwoods and it works great.

I buy Ruggable for my kitchen (and the rest of my house). I can't guarantee that they're BIFL, but some of mine have spent five years being barfed on by dogs and dripped on by various foods and kitchen goo (and then licked by dogs), washed a lot, and they're still in great shape - I can't tell the new ones from the old ones unless I check to see if the tag is wrinkled
