Any opinions on Sabai couches long term?
Sorry just saw this! Our elevate does not have a pull out bed. No sagginess and still loving it. It is a firm couch but we like that. We actually bought a slip cover for it and it feels like a brand new couch. It did take 7 months for the slip cover to come, they did end up taking about $100 off because of the delays but the couch is still great

Recommendations for cozy couch with washable covers?
I’m really pleased with my Sabai couch. It’s comfy, non-toxic, and washable. They also sell replacement parts, so it’s BIFL as long as they’re in business.

The ultimate BIFL Sofa?
Of course! I did a ton of research when buying a couch myself & have a dog. Was willing to spend a relatively high amount, but only for commensurate quality. I have the recycled poly essential 86” sofa which stands up shockingly well to my dog circling & scratching before curling up to nap, but I read that velvet is excellent for cats sharper claws. The poly has never snagged even a little bit and the occasional visible nail scratch line when my dog’s nails are particularly sharp has been easy to just buff out so far. I can confirm that it’s been easy to clean out pet related stains from the poly too (mud, drool, etc). Dog hair (mine is a huge shedder & has long hair) is easy to vacuum off, though it can kind of weave itself into the poly weave) a bit. Way easier to clean than other fabric couches I’ve used but not as easy to just wipe down as, eg, leather or velvet. I’ll also note that the “essential” sofas can turn into beds and are quite comfy. The bench cushion just slides off and sits in front. The 96” turns into a Auden size bed (w a kit from Sabai or diy with foam from Amazon etc) & the 86” turns into approximately a full size bed (have to diy the foam here since sabai only sells the queen sized kits.) I’ve slept on mine as have guests & I can confirm it’s quite comfortable. It’s not a “sink into it” cloud type couch - it has nice supportive but soft cushions.

The ultimate BIFL Sofa?
Sabai designs!! It’s a POC woman-owned sustainable furniture company manufactured and designed in North Carolina. They do solid wood inside the sofa and have 3 fabrics (recycled velvet, recycled poly weave, and hemp). The velvet & poly are pet/scratch resistant. The hemp may be also, but I don’t have experience with that & it seems logical that hemp is a slightly less robust material. They come in boxes and are extraordinarily solid when put together, you’d never know it was delivered in a box. The company sells individual replacement parts as needed (cushions, arm rests, back rests, etc.) and also sells custom-fit covers for each type of furniture (sofa, love seat, chair, ottoman), that don’t look like a cover. So if you love your couch but it gets stained, ripped, you want a new color or fabric — no need to buy a whole new couch. They’re not cheap, but the company occasionally does sales & they aren’t even as pricey as something like Lovesac for example.

Love the look of joybird furniture, but not the quality. What to get instead?
Just adding to this thread, we have had a Sabai for about 5 years, and its quality has absolutely stood the test of time. We're exploring other brands now because we need a larger sectional, but love Sabai!!
