What's the best cookware you've ever had?
I have my great-aunt's cast iron "chicken skillet" (large enough to fry a entire chicken in) from the 1920s, plus other cast iron pieces from other ancestors - skillets, dutch oven and griddle. Every piece still well seasoned and ready for action. I also have my husband's Granny's set of Saladmaster waterless cookware that she bought in the 1950s and gave to us when she downsized the last time in 2010. Honestly, for a while it was looking a little rough around the edge until I finally remembered last year what Granny always used to clean it: Barkeepers Friend for the win!

I’m looking to buy a stainless steel pot set that’s going to last me for years to come
www.saladmaster.com Not sold in stores, only through dealers. They have a lifetime warranty, our set dates to the 80s.

Best pot and pan set for a new homeowner?
Take a look at Salad Master, TI-Stainless. Lifetime warranty. Our set dates back to the 1980s. Only had to replace c 2 handles and one pot knob under warranty that whole time. They can only purchased through dealers, not sold in stores.

Non-Plastic Automatic Coffee Maker?
Vintage electric percolator, Jet-O-Matic or Westinghouse Pressure-Flo. Look for clean, non-corroded interior. Get a timer, remote control, or smart plug. Takes about 10 minutes to make 8 cups. These percolators don't boil the coffee while brewing so you don't get a burned taste.

Does anyone else feel like it's impossible to buy quality stuff anymore? Seems like every single thing I buy falls apart absurdly fast. I try to get quality stuff, but reviews are all fake, star ratings are bought... how do you avoid buying junk?
It's getting harder, mostly word of mouth and a lot of researching. My buy for life items are Ariens Snowblower. 1st 38 years, 2nd now past 15) San Antonio Shoe Company. (1st pair now past 13 years, just resoled). Salad Master Cookware (now past 38 years) Speed Queen Washer & Dryer ( now past 12 years) Hamilton Beach toaster (estate sale $8, made in 1970).

What brand / type of pots & pans are worth investing in as a young adult?
We have a single Saladmaster pot and it’s the first pot I’ll grab regardless of what I’m cooking. It’s ridiculously good even on an electric stovetop. It’s 20+ years old and looks like new. Probably too expensive to buy new (and I hear the sales process is complicated). But if you can find any on eBay that are affordable, you won’t be disappointed.

Stainless steel cookware recommendations?
It's not cheap, but it will last you for life, if not your kids, and grand kids. Salad Master, it is a 5-Ply TI-Stainless lifetime warranty. Only available through dealers or home shows. Our set is over 30 years, possibly 40 years. Have only had to replace a knob, and 2-handles over that time, all under warranty. www.saladmaster.com
