  Looking for extra wide HOKA shoes

  It’s been a while since I’ve had Saucony’s, just remember them being one of the most cushiony running shoe options before Hoka’s entered the scene. Now every company has their Hoka copycat I guess. Looks like Saucony has the Men’s Echelon 10 Extra Wide, but your color options are limited to black/ gray. But looking at Brooks’ website, I would use their shoe finder to find something that meets your criteria. I have only bought Brooks for awhile now and the latest pair I have (Ghost 3 I think) is extremely cushiony. Not sure if that would be the best pair for you or not considering my feet are pretty narrow, but they have loads of options.

  Just got a pair of Brooks with the same kind of look and padding as Hoka’s. It’s likely they make some in a wide. Otherwise, check out Saucony. As a former runner, I’d recommend both of these brands.

  Well first off, running shoes are like tires, most certainly not BIFL. Generally the best for running comfort and ergonomics will only last a certain number of miles before you need to replace them. That said, the best right now are ASICS Novablast 5, Brooks Ghost 17, Saucony Mens Ride 18, and Adidas Adizeros.

  It's such a personal thing. I run tonnes and tend to use NB or Asics, but I know ultra marathoners who swear by Saucony or Nike or. Nnormal. It's really about what feels good on your feet and what fits your running style (e.g. if you heel strike, certain shoes won't work for you) and foot shape (some shoes have narrow toe boxes).

  Bombas Socks have really let me down. Any recommendations welcome!

  Saucony 12 pack of socks on Amazon, they go for $2.25 a pair, sometimes cheaper if on sale or if you don’t mind certain colors.  I don’t get the hype with Darn Tough, even with a lifetime warranty, I can buy almost 9 socks for every 1 pair (short socks or 12 to 1 for tall socks)  That’s insanity level pricing. You can afford to completely swap out your sock drawer every 2 years for the next 20 before you recoup the price. And who wants to wear 10 year old socks!?

  Have you contacted them about the warranty? If you no longer want to deal with the brand, I found saucony socks to have a similar fit to bombas Darn tough is the brand most people go to for quality and service. My socks from them never had any issues, so I never had to contact them I have plenty of feetures. Their plantar fascitis socks are my favorite for travelling. I had one of their other socks and had an issue with shrinking (this was 1 of my first pairs with them, so it could've been my fault). I contacted them about it and they gave me credit to use for another pair of their socks. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to use the credit yet because their site is pricey. I usually get them on sale from zappos or amazon

  Best walking shoes for men: which ones do you recommend?

  I walk quite a bit daily and my new favorite is Saucony Men's Cohesion 17 Sneaker. It’s a relatively low priced shoe ($70 or so) but so were Hokas before they became popular and their cost shot up. I don’t expect them to last forever but they are comfortable. Prior to these, I tried the New Balance 847s. They lasted about a year walking roughly 5 miles a day. I found them to be a heavier shoe and not particularly attractive.

  Looking for Shoes for Flat Feet!

  Look into stability shoes like Brooks Adrenaline GTS or Saucony Guide. It has good support for flat feet without forcing weird angles. Also worth getting fitted at a proper running store so they can watch your gait.

  BIFL? Probably not. Trainers really aren't designed for BIFL. But that said, I will buy Saucony's forever. Saucony Jazz Original or Trainer 80 Original for sure.

  Saucony is myl favorite in terms of fit/comfort - for my feet. But Brooks has been the brand that have always held up better than any others. I call them the Toyota of shoes - not the most exciting maybe but they just keep going. I'm very active so I usually have several pairs (from multiple brands) in rotation for different activities at any given time.

  I wear Saucony Inferno socks for running and I think they’re every bit as good as my expensive Darn Tough and Feetures socks, minus the lifetime warranty. I wear the quarter height but they make a no-shoe tab style too.

  Yeah, if I had to make a list Nike would come right after Puma. Saucony and Smartwool would be on there too. But like they say, “your results may vary.” My wife is a runner (unlike me)and all she wears are Smartwool. 🤷‍♂️

  I am a full figured man and a scuffer, so I tend to only get 300+-ish miles from the shoes. For the last 10 years I have been getting Saucony's in the $40-50 range, knowing they have a shorter life for me. They fit me true to size, are very comfortable, and have decent 'second lives' once I retire them.

  Saucony, Asics, and Brooks are all well built, serious running shoes. New Balance, Mizuno, and Hoka also have some conpetitive offerings. I would stay away from any of the fashion shoes from Nike or Adidas

  Recommend getting a gait analysis done - they'll have you run on a treadmill and recommend the right shoes to suit your gait. For long-lasting.. I've personally found Asics and Saucony to be very good, while Nike has some problems with soles peeling off

  I know it seems weird but I went to a running store (I do NOT run) for shoe recommendations. Found out I have thick feet from top to bottom so some brands will not be good or comfortable for my feet. (Like Nike which I was wearing at the time. Not that they are a bifl brand anyways). This is due to my bone structure not just my feet had/have some fat on them. I was honest with them for what I was looking for. I did buy shoes they had recommended there and haven’t looked back since. Shoes do have milage just like a tire on your car so keep that in mind. But I found Saucony shoes work great for me and is what that store recommended. They have sales frequently for older styles so you can find nice shoes for decent price. I have been using them pretty exclusively for over a decade or two now and have not looked back.

  What this person said. If you’re going to be a runner you’re gonna have to suck it up and purchase new running shoes every 350 ish miles depending on how you land and how the shoe is designed. Don’t cheap out on this. Running will be more fun and your body will Thankyou. I am not made of money, but I write this off as a health expenditure like going to the doctor. If you haven’t thought about it, find your local running shop. I am sure they will be as nice as my place. Running people are excited about people running no matter where they are in the process. I was treated like royalty. They looked at the shoes I wear the most, told me how I likely run. Offered to watch me run, set a stack of boxes in front of me and said try them on. They were patient and kind and enthusiastic. All of this cost me $125 bucks. Amazon and rei could never compete with the experience. I paid 25 dollars more than online and tried on 7 different pairs of shoes and received expert advice. I head amazing things about the altras. I would recommend them. I run with saucony rides and love them so I haven’t tried anything else. I will warn they are a bit loud on a treadmill so if you’re running at the gym, prepare to get looks from some people. Can’t we all just wear headphones people? ;)

  Saucony, Brooks, Mizuno, Mammut, Innov8, Salewa, Scarpa, Sportiva, Lowa. All of those have a particular reputation for longevity and general quality. Bear in mind it may depend on the particular purpose, for instance more specialist/high performance models of those brands may be comparatively short lived, i.e. shoes that are intended to help you win a race at all costs. :)  But in truth the BIFL answer is to buy cheap when sales come around. Combine with the above, there's your answer. Shoes don't live forever, it's about making your money go further.

  I found Hokas wear out faster than other brands, especially the foam. I switched to Saucony which was great but then they changed the model so now I'm on Brooks. The Brooks is definitely the roomiest of the three in a wide.

  Welcome! Yeah, screws in the foot don’t mix well with anything other than sooooffffffft and good support. Good luck! Also, if you do go to a running shoe store (like, actual running shoes, not just a bit of everything), they can let you try several brands. Hoka, On Cloud, Saucony, etc. works great for some folks, not me. Brooks Ghosts. But not Brooks Adrenaline. You get the idea. But yeah, that’s the route I’d go. [Here is and example.
