Didn’t realize how attached I was to my old backpack until it finally started falling apart
I have Savotta Jakkari M. Three years of daily service. Only smashed one clasp with car trunk - my fault. Expect it to work for long time, since not much to go wrong and it is made in EU.

Gift Ideas for My Boyfriend Who Has Everything?
let him buy and just give it to you to give at xmas. I bought myself 3 things for Christmas: Knipex cobra mini pliers, 3 pack of Under Armour underwear and Fjällraven Färden 50 duffel bag which I got in black Friday discount, otherwise I would have gotten Savotta Keikka 50 duffel bag but it was 50€+ more expensive. I don't necessarily need these things but they are nice to have. I'm looking forward getting them.

Cabin bag that last for years
Savotta. Makes way durable backs from any of listed ones. True military/hiking equipment. I use Keikka 50L black for travelling.

Backpack suggestions?
Savotta and Mystery Ranch. Mystery Ranch if you get the Military/Fire lines, since those are still USA made and heavy duty. The 3DAP is an amazing daily pack. I have a Komodo Dragon I've used for years and taken all over the world. If I hadn't gone the MR route I definitely would've gone for Savotta, and still might in the future - all their other gear I have is absolutely bomb-proof.

Backpack suggestions?
I hear these are durable https://www.savotta.fi/products/kahakka-15l. Also, they are repairable. You can order parts like locks and straps if they break.

The only company I hold "brand loyalty"
Dude! I had never heard of this place and now, 2hrs later, I have just spent $200 on wool socks, long underwear, a Romanian bread bag, some Superman looking swim trunks from 1989 and a set of baby blue 3 fingered leather gloves from France. What the hell just happened?!

Bro their descriptions are hilarious. They even label with "Freedom Units" vs metric. Products look incredibly practical and well-priced. I'm stunned that this site exists.

The only company I hold "brand loyalty"
I use the Askare most days, I use it like a sling where you can easily move it to your front, put stuff in/take stuff out, and push it to your back. When I need a laptop, I use the Kahakka 15L. However I have a small laptop and it's quite snug. Generally the Kahakka 15L would be good for the gym and day to day, I personally also use it when hiking, so I can fit some food, water, and waterproof clothing in the bag. I would however recommend getting some "Velcro one wrap" or elastic strap keepers, because the 4 straps to adjust the bag size are quite annoying if not neatly tied up.

Bought a Jääkäri L just to go to festivals here in Europe, I love everything about it, great Marketing, build quality and soooo many ways to attach stuff to it (looking at you tactical TP roll holder). Now I'm looking for another everyday backpack.

Oh my days. I love their product photos. For their 50 liter bag they have a photo with the bag filled with cash like in GTA.

This has to be the most no nosense product I've ever bought.
For the Jäkääri S I got some neoprene and sewed it in canvas sleeves that get held to the shoulder straps using some elastic loops (had hair ties there for a while, flat ones are preferred). The less DIY route would be to get shoulder pads from Fjallraven or Tasmanian Tiger, can't vouch for quality of either though.

A list of BIFL not made in the USA
I’d like to add savotta (Finland and Estonia) and Opinel (France) and Laguiole (France) to the list! I’m an American living in Europe but I’ll support the hell out of EU products over US.
