$2k’s plenty for a solid king. Skip Ashley brand. Look at Sleep Republic, Ecosa, or a mid-range Sealy hybrid. Purple’s comfy but pricey and hit-or-miss long term.

We have a Sealy Posturepedic hybrid mattress and it's awesome. Had it for almost 5 years now and it's still in great condition. No sagging or anything. We bought a firm one so that when it's broken in and a bit older it will be medium firm. Came with a 10 year warranty and we always keep a cover on it.

A good mattress, do they exist anymore?
I try to avoid pillow top mattresses after having one sag like crazy but it's very hard to find. Currently I have a Casper mattress in the primary and a Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid in the guest room. Both are pretty great. Sealy runs sales on their website really often. I always add a foam topper too. That way if any sagging starts to happen I can just replace the topper. The Foam Factory website sells nice toppers. I'm a big fan of their HD36-HQ egg crate topper.

What are the best mattress brands reddit seems to like?
I liked a foam mattress for the cost, until a certain dog I know got anxious, peed on it, then ripped it up into an indoor snowstorm. Converted me back to box spring Sealy beautyrest has given me no issues. Easy to clean. Looks brand new. Great sleep. Feels like I’m at a hotel because I found it at a hotel and thought it was the best bed ever so I ordered my own. Im pretty fanatic about linens and spent a very very very long time looking at beds haha. Just my personal favorite

Looking to replace every single item we own
For pans I'd go with cast iron skillets , one 12" should do you just fine and I have two Masterchef brand from Canadian Tire that cost me $40 on sale and they've been great. Pots id go with stainless steel not sure which brands are best but I'd assume any stainless steel pot should last a long time if from a reputable brand. Also while I know this isn't exactly BIFL related I've had great luck finding kitchen and home appliances and furniture at thrift stores and facebook marketplace. It's where I got my Cuisinart coffee maker that cost me $20 and has been running strong going on 4 years now. For furniture Habitat for humanity restore often has really well built furniture that's donated due to elderly people passing away or people moving and unable to sell I've gotten some very nice pieces that way. As for mattresses , Costco sells Seally mattresses for very reasonable prices. I wish you good luck over here from Edmonton on getting you and your family back on track!

Where do you buy hotel-quality bed sheets and pillows without spending a fortune? I want my bed to feel like a Marriott stay.
I hunted down the Sealy mattress Disney used. It was $1700 and worth every penny.

Sleeping Duck Indestruct Bed - It's worth the hype IMHO
I’ll post the review of mine because I love it so much. I’m a side sleeper and like a very plush mattress. The sealy high point hybrid is by far the comfiest mattress I’ve ever used. I added a down pillow topper to it and it’s like sleeping in a cloud.

Can a good quality mattress topper extend the life of a mattress?
I buy a Costco sealy firm mattress and buy a mattress topper from serta. It’s a fantastic formula that has lasted years. Provides the firm support but the topper gives the comfort.
