I buy my sheets from eBay or Mercari. I like cotton percale so look for second hand JC Penney or Sears. They might look funky but they've lasted 50 years and I have had no wear since I've owned them. Definitely buy for life

Since all modern refrigerators suck, what features would a BIFL fridge have?
We bought a new fridge about a year ago. We got the simplest basic one. No water or ice cube dispenser. Just a fridge and freezer. Fewer parts to go wrong. We're very happy with it. So far. We had our previous very basic fridge for 30 years and bought it from Sears.

Best Garden Hose I’ve Ever Used
I purchased two 25' hoses from Sears about 30 years ago, and I still use them daily now. Black, solid rubber, brass ends, store it outside all summer, and has never kinked once. Still looks new but the only drawback is the weight of it, you definitely need a good cart to move it around.

Is there anywhere on this planet I can buy an electric blanket that isn't trash?
Buy a NOS vintage blanket on eBay. The ones manufactured from the 1960s to the early 1980s were well made and durable. Make sure it's NOS and not used. Especially with something like an electric blanket, you don't want to go inheriting someone else's electrical problems. I have a 1970s Sears blanket and it's awesome!

What is the longest lasting item you've bought?
Not me but my great grandmother, she bought an upright deep freezer from Sears when my mom was starting high school. When she died in 2000, my mom got it. My mom finally had to replace it last year. My mom is 70. By comparison, I think my mom has had three refrigerators in the last 20 years.

My 1993 Sears dehumidifier is still on the job in the basement rec room. I replaced the bucket cutoff switch about 20 years ago, but that's it on maintenance.

What’s one product you bought that has lasted forever and was totally worth it?
This! I've had my Sears Washer and Dryer from 2001 with less than $100 spent on small wear/tear repairs. Meanwhile people's Smart Samsung and LG appliances are barely making it through a year.

Flannel shirts that last
I have a bunch of my dad’s flannels which are at least 20 years old. The labels are either Sears or JCPenney but the quality of the materials and construction is amazing. Other than needing the occasional button they are as good as new. I wear them often.

What did you buy not realizing you bought it for life?
I have a revlon nail file that might be as old as me (mid 30s). Not truly BIFL but my 2011 macbook pro is still going strong. Veggie peeler that is absolutely older than me. Hand me down from my mom. My grandparents bought a sears sewing machine in the 60s. I now have it and it still works! I also have some of their old Pyrex but have since realized those have lead paint so.. now they just look pretty. I had yoga pants from victorias secret that were 20 years old. I just finally got rid of them this year because they don’t fit but still so much life in them.
