1950s Sheaffer Valiant Snorkel pen in pastel blue. Fully functional, and better looking than most modern pens. It has a medium 14k gold conical "triumph" nib with platinum masking on the tip for better ink flow.
That's a beauty. Twenty five years ago I was deeply involved in collecting and repairing fountain pens. I lost interest and sold almost all of them. I kept a Snorkel like yours except in green, and a few others including a Sheaffers Oversize Flattop from the 1920s. They still function perfectly.

What is a pen that you have bought for life and you actually use it everyday and it is your first go-to, as if it’s become an extension of your arm and you feel connected with the page?
If you are not going to commit to a fountain pen, as in Kaweco like suggested above, or a Lamy , then I would suggest a good real ball point like a Sheaffer or a Swedish Ballograf.
