  Can confirm shoe goo holds up better than the other adhesives. I’ve used it for running shoes (pavement) and it’s amazing. Not permanent, but I get months of miles from it on the bottom of my soles. Anywhere else, it’s close to permanent

  After further inspection I found that the top comment in the original post mentions “Shoe Goo” to fix it which supposedly holds through harsh weather and is meant for the job!

  Sneakers or boots for daily wear.

  Buy good quality leather shoes such as Red Wing, Oliver, Blundstone, and so on, then look after the leather with a good quality cleaner like Lexol and conditioner such as Bick 4. Use a horsehair brush to apply. Then when the soles wear out, fillet the tread off a car tyre (cut down to just above the steel wires - see YouTube for instructions) and glue it on with good quality glue such as Shoe Goo or Barge. That's how you make shoes that can do tens of thousands of miles and last up to 10 years with low running costs (pun intended).

  How do I repair this part of the shoe? I know I could buy a new pair but why when the rest of the shoe is in great condition?

  Shoe goo was my best friend as a skater. Flip tricks would wear a hole slowly and I’d just keep adding more goo. Eventually a good quarter of my shoe was just goo. Still worked fine.

  I use Shoe goo for everything. I just re-glued this little clay figure my son made me . It works for everything. I’ve used it to patch an air mattress. I sealed the hole with you go. And then I covered it with layers of gorilla tape and duct tape.

  I use shoe goo for many things, it comes in a resealable tube and lasts quite a while.

  Shoe goo is some of the best glue I’ve ever used. My wife prefers E-6000.

  Contact cement wood work better for that, I think.  I have a pair of trail shoes that I recently had to patch the toe with a fresh tube of shoe goo.  Once it dried it was not flexible at all.

  A thin layer of shoe goo is pretty flexible. I think behind a soft fabric patch like moleskin it would be fine.

  Don't use super glue because it isn't flexible. Use Seam Grip, Show Goo, or Barge Cement and patch material.

  [BIFL Request] A work boot for ACTUALLY taking out on the field that doesn't look beauiful

  I've a pair of [these Keen boots](http://www.workwearboots.com/browse.cfm/keen-braddock-usa-steel-toe-waterproof-hiker/4,1408.html). I've been wearing them daily for probably 18 months. The toe shows zero signs of wear. If that particular boot isn't your thing, I notice that the [website](http://www.workwearboots.com/browse.cfm/keen-safety-toe-shoes/2,30.html) has all sorts of Keens of various heights, water proof, etc.... As an aside: In the past I've also just coated the toes of my boots with a thick layer of [Shoe Goo](http://www.walmart.com/ip/Eclectic-110011-3.7-Oz-Shoe-Goo/21129799) and have had great results.
