This Shu Uemura eyelash curler that I’ve had for over 20 years
Hi Fellow Shu Uemura fans! My Shu Iconic eyelash curler... is jeeze, almost 20 years old. I had always just used cheap ones from the drugstore, but my daughter talked me into splurging on The Shu. I DO remember it was very pricey, but I caved and bought it. OH HOW I ADORE my curler! I discovered that purple Tweezerman refills fit very well and my Shu has had daily use for all these years! But sadly, a few weeks ago, I felt a 'pop' as I was using it and I realized the soldering had broken. So I just bought a Mac curler, and then a Shisheido, a Tweezerman and a couple of others, one after the other... and NOT ONE comes close to my Shu! They ALL curl my lashes in an inward direction, no matter what I try. (After the Mac one was wonky, now I just hold them up next to my old Shu to check the shape, width & angle, so I can return them.) There is just 'something' about the shape, width & angle of the Shu that suits my eye shape. So now, I want to order from Shu directly. Hopefully it is still the same because (for me) no other curler seems to compare. Can anybody tell me if the design has changed?

Almost commented on this in my comment but I have never replaced the pads and it’s been in the family for 18+ years!

lol stole this exact one from my mom or sister (don’t know exactly when it was purchased) about 18 years ago (I was 7 or 8) and still use it every time I do my makeup!

It absolutely is BIFL. Im 47 and I've had mine for over 25 years...I really want to say maybe 30. It's a gotdam beast. I heat mine to lock in the curl and no issues whatsoever.

Just a heads up they don’t sell the replacement pads separately. I went to buy them and had to buy a new curler. However, when you buy a new one it does come with come spare! So I put that on my old one and now I have two!

Of course, it's BIFL. All it does is pinch eyelashes. It's not really a built for the grind tool. This is the cast iron of cosmetics instruments. This post has inspired me to post my 3rd generation Tupperware measuring cups and spoons.

I’ve had mine for 13 years but I’ve changed out the pads several times. I read your comment that you haven’t and I’m in awe about that.

For real! It was marked down several times on clearance, I never would have imagined I’d still have it 15 years later 😂

I have the same exact one! I got it at a TJ Maxx when I was in middle school for like $7 and I thought I was soooo glamorous for having it 🤣

I have this as well. Going on 15 years strong. I have never replaced the padding but I do pop it out for cleaning now and then. My daughter got a wet and wild curler for christmas. I never knew how different they could be. The W and W one was nearly unusable.
