The Best Mattress to Buy at the Moment?
I had 2 temperpedics, both amazing, medium firmness. But if i could do all over, id probably get a sleepnumber. I like the idea of changing firmness whenever i want, so kinda wish i got that. The split one though.

The Best Mattress to Buy at the Moment?
We've got a split head Sleep Number and it's been great. Can adjust firmness easily. Can put a pad on it if you want. Has really worked out for us.

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Bidet, sleep number mattress, lazy boy recliner , gas fireplace and a good toaster oven.

Looking for best mattress for my second home
I would add sleep number to that list, especially if other guests are using it, then everyone can be comfortable. I love our sleep number, it makes other beds hard to sleep in.

Looking to purchase a quality bed.
Have been through several brands, including Stearns & Foster and using their warranty twice. All sagged out in less than 3 years. However, our Sleep Number is as good as new 10 years later. Definitely a BIFL purchase and absolutely worth every penny. Have a friend with a Sleep Number approaching 20 years old. He’s made a repair or two over the years but still going strong. They are modular and repairable.

Looking to purchase a quality bed.
IDK what sleep number costs these days, but I got one secondhand, it was already ten years used, I used it for another ten, and it went to another friend and they are still using it if you can't afford a bifl item, get it secondhand, wait for something clean-- it'll turn up and you'll have it

Looking to purchase a quality bed.
We have had the same adjustable Sleep Number bed since 2017. The only issue we have had was one of the foot heating pads stopped working a few years ago. Easy replacement, took me about 15 minutes.

Best FIRM mattress options
sleep number, hands down. I got mine as a hand-me-down from one of my friends when I helped her downsize and move with her boyfriend. she'd had the bed at least 10-12 years. she's fussy, so it was perfectly clean and it came home with me. for another 10-12 years. I gave it to a friend about 6 years ago, they still sleeping on it every night. personally, I like ridiculously firm also. but every once in a while, like sick days, and I'm just bed rotting, changing the pressures to less firm was more comfortable when I was awake and rolling around. see if you can try one for a night or two, there's hotels that have sleep number or phone a friend and invite yourself into their sleep number lol

Best FIRM mattress options
Check out an air bed. Sleep Number is the most well known, but there are other brands that are just as good (if not better). I get the versions with the least amount of foam padding. Conveniently, those are usually the cheapest.

Best Side sleeper pillow? I've wrecked mine with my arm
If you have a Sleep Number near you, you can go try out different pillows at the store. They have ones for side sleepers in that shape you're talking about, and they have a 100-night "trial period"

The Best Mattress to Buy Now?
They are made for back sleeping. You can sleep on your side but it’s not the same imo. I’ve been a side sleeper my whole life and started sleeping in my back when we got our sleep number. Ours has a pillow top so it feels like a pretty normal mattress temperature wise. It’s much cooler than our previous memory foam bed 🥵

i10 sleep number. Paid $10k but worth every penny. And before anyone says they had the $2K or $3K sleep number and it was awful you are correct its terrible but their top tier setup is absolutely worth it

A good mattress, do they exist anymore?
Have you tried Sleep Number beds? They last a very long time. You can adjust your firmness to your liking. Doesn't sag as it has air baffles in it.

A good mattress, do they exist anymore?
My sleep number will never wear out and can be adjusted infinitely, so I will never outgrow it. Sure, the pump died and my dog ate the remote but I got a 3rd party replacement to keep it going. I’m very happy with it.

A good mattress, do they exist anymore?
i bought a king size sleep-number 16 years ago, mostly because i couldn't get a king size mattress up the stairs and around the corner. I will never go back to a steel spring mattress. it comes apart and you can wash the cover. you can replace pieces if they wear out. It really is a BIFL purchase.

What are the best mattress brands reddit seems to like?
We love our Sleep Number. We’ve had ours about 10 years and it’s never given us any issues. We have the mattresses and the adjustable base. The initial price and cost of sheets is our biggest complaints.

Where do you buy hotel-quality bed sheets and pillows without spending a fortune? I want my bed to feel like a Marriott stay.
I’m a lifetime Marriott Platinum and have spent several recent years at Ambassador status, so….LOTS of nights in Marriott properties. And not always the good ones. I regularly stay in Spring Hills, Courtyards, regular Marriotts, but also Ritz, and Autograph properties. AND STILL, I can’t wait to get back to my own bed. The best combo for me for the best ten years has been simple: Sleep Number mattress and Peach Skin sheets. Our vacation house has mattresses from Helix Midnight Lux, which came with free pillows that I love and use at our main home too.

The Best Mattress for Side Sleepers Right now?
well, no mattress will last the rest of your life unfortunately. sleep numbers are close.due to being all component based, so you can swap out individual pieces instead of replacing the whole thing. the warranty is for 25 years with the first two years completely free for any replacement. the trick is to warranty a new top with he padding for free, then save it till you need it. i used to have one and as a side sleeper they were great. out of your list tho, id go for purple or casper

Are Tuft and Needle mattresses still any good? Are they still considered BIFL?
Any type of foam is going to degrade over time, whether it’s latex or something else. The only BIFL mattress that I’m aware of is an air mattress like a sleep number or comfort select. I’ve had mine for 10 years and no issues but if the bladder were to burst or something you can replace it individually. The motor hardly ever runs so it’s unlikely to fail. Mine has several layers of latex toppers on it which can also be replaced individually should they compress (which they will, because foam isn’t BIFL).

My wife and I swear by our Sleep Number. They are expensive but their modularity makes for reasonable warranty repairs or replacements. Have never needed the air bladders replaced just some of the foam sidewalls.

Recommendations for a Mattress
My hubby (350ish pounds) and I (200 pounds) have been well served by our sleep number mattress for over a decade now. The ability to adjust the firmness of each side independently has been a game changer for us, since we both do a fair bit of hard physical labor pretty much daily and deal with the resulting aches and pains as they come.

Looking for a new mattress.
Had a helix for 6 years before it got to soft. Currently have a Casper and at 6'4 270lbs my side is already shot after 8 months. The wife is 5'4 140lbs and she also has a it breaking down compared to the massive firm hump in the middle of the bed. Sleep number is going to be our next purchase.

Not sure if this a bifl question but we have a sleep number with all the whistles. Spent like 10k. Best decision ever. It heats, cools, adjusts for your movement while sleeping, adjusts for snoring etc. Very good purchase but $$$

The Best Mattresses Now?
My sleep number bed was still going strong after 15 yrs, until it was taken out by a fire. Also, you can replace parts as needed, which is much cheaper than replacing the whole bed.

What's the most expensive item you've bought with the intention of keeping it for life?
We just spent a mint on a Sleep Number bed. We’re in our 50s. This is (hopefully) the last mattress we ever buy.

what are your BIFL ADHD products that make life easier?
I 2nd birbjesus’ comment about the importance of sleep, so I’ll tell you the bed set up that I have. I bought a Sleep Number bed and attached a grounding kit. We have completely blacked out our room, use an air filter as a white noise machine. We put our phones in another room. We go to bed and wake up at the same time no matter how well or poorly we sleep. We ensure that our phones and all other blue screens are off by 6 PM. Since this is a BIFL site, we’ve had the Sleep Number for five years and it has shown zero signs of wear so far. The air filter we use is an Austin Allergy Machine.

I've had the same issue for years. Ended up burying a Sleep Number bed with the foot warmer in it. Bought it in 2018 and it's still amazing.

MATTRESS. Looking for recommendations.
Sure, we have the sleep number p5. We got this one because I wanted a model that had the ability to be really firm, but still had some padding. I think it was around $3600 USD when we bought it, but I could be off a bit. I remember we financed it at 0% interest for 12 months. What I really like is that I can sleep firm and so far haven't experienced any nesting or softening of the foam after 4 years or so. The sales rep told me that they do sell replacement foam so if I feel the bed nests after a while, I can just replace the foam component. I do wish we'd sprung for the adjustable base so that we could raise up the head compared to our feet, as since then, my wife has developed GERD, and I now have a medical condition where I'm supposed to sleep with the head of the bed slightly elevated over the feet. Our last beds were a $2000 serta foam mattress, a helix, and a Casper. They all nested like crazy and were unusable after about 2 years. For reference, my wife is tiny, but my weight has been all over the place. I'm 6'3" and have been everywhere from 216 lbs to over 330.

4 years into a sleep number here. Previously, we chewed through spring and foam mattresses about every two years. The sleep number is comfortable and still feels like new.
