  [Serious] Anyone concerned about a “Lifetime” warranty from Sterling Pacific, a luggage company charging $2k per piece and that’s only been around since 2018?

  I think it's a fine balance. Lighter = less material. Less material often means cut corners and less durability. The panels on the SP line are noticably thicker, and there's virtually zero plastic used, especially in areas such as the wheels, and handles. The weight adds up, but when durability and protection matters more than a heavy bag, the beefier build always wins.

(In true Reddit style, will update soon with a picture from HQ) Thank you for taking the time to look into us and share your concerns. I really mean that. Anyone who cares enough to ask these questions deserves a proper answer, and I appreciate you giving us the chance to explain. Our team is a small group of frequent fliers & entrepreneurs from Europe, Canada, Asia and the US who have been working together for over 10 years. We’re all stakeholders in Sterling Pacific, and we care deeply about every product that leaves our facilities. This brand grew from a simple goal we shared back in 2019. We wanted to build the most dialed all metal travel case possible. No compromises. No shortcuts. The first production run was finally ready in 2021, and we’ve been improving every detail ever since batch over batch. On the heritage piece you mentioned, I completely understand how the timeline can look confusing from the outside. The original Sterling Pacific name came from R Herz and Bro, a historic jewelry business that had meaningful roots here in Reno Nevada. (Their name is still woven into Reno with roads and university awards named in their honor). They were known for craftsmanship and quality in their time, which is ultimately why the name resonated with us. We took the name forward and then rebuilt the entire brand from the ground up. Every design choice, every supplier, every piece of tooling, every engineering decision came from our team starting fresh. The heritage we stand on today is the tradition of precision and craftsmanship, carried forward in an entirely new category. On the lifetime warranty, one quick clarification. The warranty covers the lifetime of the product itself. We designed it this way because our goal is to stand behind every case for as long as it can possibly be used. Our team’s customer service mantra has always been to leave every person better than we found them, and that philosophy shaped how we built this policy. We build these cases to last long enough to become family heirlooms, and we fully plan to be here supporting them as long as they exist. We are very well capitalized and building this brand with long term horizons. Our intention is to be here for the next hundred years and beyond. Sterling Pacific is not for sale and we’re only getting started, as our team is busy R&D’ing very carefully thought-out extensions of our product lines in the coming years. I think it would be highly unlikely that in several decades a buyer would be interested in our business and also grossly underestimate what is really vital to our Customers (such as the lifetime warranty). In this hypothetical and extremely unlikely scenario, we would warn them to not touch it. These partnerships and retail commitments reflect how serious we are about building this brand for the long term and being present wherever our customers fly. We are investing heavily in being present, accessible and accountable in the real world so customers can walk in, speak with us face to face and experience the product in person.   Buy it for life Luggage

  I was waiting for the carry on in black and it just took too long so I got an Away in black aluminum. Good, but not as good as Sterling Pacific I’m sure.
