how do you find a product that actually lasts online?
I have a stihl battery weed wacker. I could not find a single review of their product. Virtually every manufacturer had a review. Bought it anyway. Five year unconditional battery warranty. Beats the hell out of almost any weed wacker I’ve ever used. Reviews are all paid for in my humble opinion.

Long-lasting shirt and pants for wood cutting work
A little on the spendy side, but 1620 pants and jackets are very nice. [https://www.1620usa.com/](https://www.1620usa.com/) In some of their products they use NYCO and other tech-y fabrics that are a little stretchy, water resistant, and very very abrasion resistant especially compared to cotton duck fabric. I would look at their Foundation pant before pulling the trigger on something like the durastretch or double knee pants. However, I would also recommend getting coveralls if you're splitting a lot of wood or a pair of those expensive chainsaw pants if you're clearing a lot of trees. They're all about the same Arborwear, or Husqvarna or Stihl, arbortech, treestuff etc.. But they all have that chain stopping fabric that clogs the chainsaw before it can cut your leg. More like PPE than "pants" if that makes sense. I would always wear the Stihl chaps and the integrated helmet/hearing protection/facemask thing if I was running the chainsaw all day.

These were built to be rebuilt. On the Felco website you can order almost any part of any model individually or as a kit. What other products could be given the ship of theseus treatment like this?
I have a Stihl ms360 of theseus. The only original parts are the carb, handle and air filter cover.

Need opinions on leaf blowers
Ego will be your best bet for electric...but... I splurged on a Stihl backpack blower (gas) from my local farm coop store. It is unstoppable. Fires up every time. I do treat it well with the Stihl oil mix stuff and gas stabilizer. I also keep it in the garage instead of the shed. But I have no doubt about it being with me for years to come.

Most small engine power equipment would fit on this list, Toro and Briggs have significant dealer and part support, and a huge swath of cheaper third party parts. Same for MTD machines. Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna all could fit in this list as well. There are a million brands of generators and other equipment that all use Honda-compatible engines and parts

Best BIFL gardening tools?
I like my Niwaki secateurs a lot (I got the sharpening stone as well but I haven’t used it yet - should probably do that this weekend) and I like their shovels more than any other brand. I used to be a landscaper so I’ve used a lot of shovels and the Niwaki is my favorite. I have the short and the tall lengths of pointed shovel (the gold ones). Fiskars loppers have been fine for me. Some no-name heavy duty garden fork I found at a thrift store has been my favorite thing recently. We have a Stihl weedeater and an old Honda mower and both are good.

What’s one thing you bought once and it’s still going strong years later?
Stihl Kombi - multiple attachments- weed eater, brush cutter, pole saw, blower, hedge trimmer, edge, etc. Had it about 15 years, use it several times a week. Powerhead has required zero maintenance/repairs so far.

Best Electric Weed Eater?
I have a large, fairly heavy Stihl battery brush cutter that is amazing - probably more heavy duty than you want - but Stihl make lighter ones as well. In my experience Stihl seems expensive when you buy it, but their stuff is very well made. Friends using other brands seem to spend more in the long run, with tools that stop working, batteries that give out after a year or two, etc.

I look to AGZA for BIFL electric lawn equipment, they make recommendations for commercial use based on durability in real-world testing. Their recommendations for this would be EGO Power+, Stihl AP, Husqvarna Commercial, Makita, and Greenworks Commercial. Of these, EGO and Makita will be the easiest to get and the most affordable. I can also attest that Milwaukee's lawn equipment is very good. They have one of the best electric mowers out there, and my dad and I both have Milwaukee weedeaters that work great

We have the M18 quick-lock or whatever they call it with the string trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, and pole saw. We love it, especially the pole saw. I have a Stihl FS90 gas trimmer that is awesome when I need to put a solid blade on it to clear heavy brush or whatever but way less pleasant to use otherwise. We pretty much only use the Milwaukee stuff now.

I have an electric Kobalt it’s 5 years old and still works great. But let’s be honest none of these battery operated trimmers are BIFL. Your best bet is going to be gas powered for longevity and repair. Ommnian above with the Stihl recommendation is probably the way to go. Super versatile machines and easy to locate small engine repair down the road. As far as features go it really depends on use.

Recently got married myself. Some thoughts: Kitchen Stuff: - Le Creuset Dutch oven, frying pan, and anything else, really - Staub Dutch oven, honestly might be longer lasting than the Le Creuset. I own both and the Staub is much heavier duty. - Wüsthof chef knives, go for the Ikon Classic line, best feel and bang for buck. - Schott Zwiesel wine glasses, omfg buy these yourself if you must, the “Pure” collection is basically indestructible, have had multiple of them fall off of counters/coffee tables and miraculously not break. Also their DOF and other bar glasses are great. - Mannkitchen Pepper Cannon, my most-used kitchen tool, indestructible and absolutely BIFL - ThermoWorks, instant thermometer is a 10/10 VIGL product, also their RFX wireless thermometer if you like to grill or braise stuff for long cooks. - Stainless steel and teak wood utensils. All clad and Williams Sonoma make great stuff - Marcato Otello pasta roller machine, this thing will be the most legit vintage looking tool in your kitchen, will produce the best pasta you’ve ever had, will impress every guest, and make you look like an influencer on the socials Other Tools: - Leatherman multi-tool. I’ve had mine for a decade now. - Stihl products, chainsaw, leaf blowers, trimmers, etc - Weber products, grills mainly House: - get a head start on quality picture frames you will ultimately need for your wedding photos. People don’t think about this, but after the wedding you’re probably going to have to spend another thousand on prints and frames for the photos. - quality hardware like candelabras, etc - pretty plants that will last a lifetime, big monsteras, citrus trees, fancy orchids, etc.

We used Stihl for cutting vent holes into roofs in the fire department, all sorts of smoke and Hell blowing up into them, never any problems with nothing more than basic maintenance.
