Is this Stressless Ekornes legit? And how do I tell if one is legit or not for futures reference?
Really looks legit from the design of the base. A Stressless recliner is a product made by Ekornes.

Scandinavian style recliners whats the best brand? Stressless, IMG comfort, Fjord?
I got a Stressless Sofa and loveseat (Stressless YOU Michelle) roughly 8 years ago. Beautiful and quality in build and material, always get compliments from it By design when you sit down and lean back it relines slightly, like the chairs. However as I'm entering the 9th year of ownership it's getting "loose" in most seating positions, meaning that it reclines a helluva lot more easily and further back than it used too making it slightly uncomfortable for longer sitting sessions and it throws off new guests. All-in-all though, I may buy another stressless.

Is this legit? Used Ekorness stress less $220
Yep. That’s legit. We got the same model, also for around $250. Our was pretty beat, too, but still comfortable. We also found a nearly brand new Consul stressless for $40 once. We drove through a blizzard to get it, lol. Well worth taking our life in our hands! Sometimes you just get lucky.

Damn, that's a steal! You should be able to find a stool on eBay or Etsy, but will probably have to pay more for it than you did the chair.

Scandinavian style recliners whats the best brand? Stressless, IMG comfort, Fjord?
>I have seen IMG and stressless in person before and possibly Fjord but not for awhile. The stressless chairs are beautiful but the extra cost versus IMG hard to know if its worth it. Stressless, IMG Comfort, and Fjords are all quality brands. I would rank IMG Comfort a step below Stressless and Fjords, though. I've seen a lot of IMG chairs pop up for cheap, and it's usually because they're about 5-10 years old and the leather has started failing -- flaking, peeling, discolored, etc. For what it's worth, IMG and Stressless are both under the same Ekornes company, so, it's pretty apparent that IMG is purposely gimped so it doesn't mess too much with the flagship brand. The Fjords are a quarter step below Stressless in basically every category. The Stressless chairs are

Stressless Stella Sofa
Good eye, Memorex "*Blown Away*" poster, took a while to find the original Promo 1980's poster in great condition. **HEADRESTS**: I rarely use the headrest, I find it forces my head a little to forwards, but the woman likes it. I see no signs of use on the headrest, probably because she doesn't put too much weight on it. I do vacuum the sofa once a month, and clean the sofa with **SONAX Alcantara And Upholstery Cleaner**, every other month, just to get any body oils \\ hair products that may have left on the sofa. **FABRIC**: My old Mini Cooper had the same Dinamica fabric and color, so I knew it was not going to show any signs of wear\\tear anytime soon. It's a fabric that's readily available \[*though pretty expensive at an average price of $130 a yard*\], so after its 5 year factory upholstery warranty is up \[and assuming you didn't get extended warranty\], any upholstery professional can fix or re-upholster in the event of an incident. **CUSHION**: Good question and wish I asked my stressless dealer when ordering. But from what I found at [https://www.stressless.com/en/terms-and-conditions/faq](https://www.stressless.com/en/terms-and-conditions/faq) , as long as the sofa was manufactured within the past 10-15 years they'll have replacement parts available for you to order from an Authorized Stressless dealer. They mention that you can only get the upholstery replacement as a whole (with the cushion), but they don't mention if you can order the cushion by itself or not. The cushions actually have a zipper, which appears to be easy to remove the cover, but the center part appears to use hog-rings and a metal rod to keep it in place. So if you're unfamiliar with how to remove or staple in the hog rings then it's best to leave it to the professionals. Everything on the sofa does appear to be easy to replace, Even the armrests are detachable from the frame with just 2 or so bolts. It's just a matter of cost and availability. My main seating position is the middle seat, i've DMd you a picture how it looks now, but still looks like new. Since I got the standard foam cushions which are "springy", the cushion goes back to its original shape reducing the chances of indentions or noticeable wrinkles. I have been through 3 different sofa's from genuine leather to fabric, and this has been my absolute favorite.

best sofa that will last
I bought the IKEA Morabo (black leather, tufted) 15 years ago, and it still looks good. Only two adults using it, but I used to have a great dane and while I didn't let him use it willy nilly, he definitely spent a lot of time on it. Before him, it was a labrador/dane mix (who was definitely willy nilly). Prior to this sofa, I had tried one from a department store, and I sent it back after it started sagging and pilling within two weeks. Learned that if a sofa twists, don't buy it. After that, I tried Lazy-boy. No twist, good bones. Stuffing and back support was gone within a year. Got really mad, bought the IKEA sofa, mostly because my best friend's parents bought one just like it in the early 80s and while it looks well broken in, it's still comfortable, supportive and undamaged. My friend grew up on a farm. That sofa survived farm kids and farm dogs. Sold. That said, definitely go Stressless or other equally respected-highend furniture if you've got the money for it. It's better by a mile. I'm just convinced that IKEA sofa is the best you can get at the lower end of the price point scale.

Stressless Mayfair Sizing for someone tall and skinny
It was terrible to be honest, I disagree with the person who gave me advice. Height is way more important than width, it was comically too small and I had to sell it immediately. Even the large Mayfair that I tried at the store was a bit too short so I found a large Reno and I absolutely love it. If you're tall, highly recommend one of the chairs like the Reno with adjustable height.

Stressless Recliners Bad Reviews
My review after 3 years of ownership. Sofa. 5 stars. Recliner 5 stars. We purchased the Mary loveseat. Big enough to be called a sofa, with two outsized seat cushions. Best for two large people. We are not large so we use back cushions, and a seat cushion. We love it. It’s a showpiece look. High quality leather. Glad we bought it. The original purchaser refused delivery when they realized that this particular unit did not recline. Some Mary sofas do, some don’t. We paid 40% off. After 6 months of using it at least 8 hours daily, ( retired, my wife is a chronic TV watcher), we decided we wanted the recliners. We bought the mid priced ones. The small size for my tiny wife, the one with the higher back for me. Due to our room layout, we still watch TV from the sofa, but the chairs are a great addition. I use mine for 2 hour daytime naps. Pop on my headphones and my sleep mask, fall asleep quickly, and wake up refreshed. End table. The promo at the time was a choice of a $ 500 end table or a $ 200 credit. We took the end table. That surprised the sales lady. So glad we did. We got the one with the curved base that fits into the base of the chair. A killer look. That limited swiveling so we leave several inches of space. Ours is placed between the sofa and chair. My wife uses it all the time, and says she would pay the $ 500 or so, and wants another one. Regrets. My only regret as I sit in the chair, is that I didn’t spring for the Magic. I sat in one during the shopping process and it was so plush. It could replace my bed. We are budget conscious and decided the extra $ 1,000 was too much to spend. Delivery. Our local store delivered and set it up for free. Five miles away. I think a lot of complaints are the result of online purchases, where the customer has to assemble it. Just a few pieces, but still. It is super important to visit a showroom and try the chairs out. Each feels so different, from flattish to plush. Even the sofas need to be tried out. As I said, the Mary loveseat has very deep seats and is best for large people. We are smallish. We made it work and love it. We later ordered the ottoman that opens up and has a place for storage. We added the wood top, which is needed if you open it. That ottoman is a bargain.

What chair should a women get who sits in the chair for hours
I was having problems with one knee, and I could not sit with my knees bent for very long. I work at home and spend all day in front of a screen. Conventional desk/chair wasn't going to work. I have this setup -- Stressless recliner/ottoman with attached laptop tray. Recliner moves with you as you change positions. Laptop tray swivels every which way. I can rest my elbows on the chair arms as I type. Shove it out of the way when you're not using it. Easy to get in and out of. It ain't cheap, but...geez, it's so comfortable and well built. Had this for about 10 years now. Still looks brand new. (This isn't me, but this is exactly what I have.) [https://www.scandesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Stressless-Mayfair-Recliner-Classic-Computer-600x600.jpg](https://www.scandesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Stressless-Mayfair-Recliner-Classic-Computer-600x600.jpg) ( PS...had a Herman Miller Aeron chair for almost 20 years prior to this. Put new wheels on it and gave it to my BFF. These do go the distance, so if it works for you... IIRC, they come in few different sizes.)

we have had 2 chairs for over 14 years and never had a problem. I think the comfort of the chair is fine depending on which chair you get. I am not a fan of the footstool, it doesn't change the comfort of the chair. Most of my family likes the chairs. I would like to have one of the recliners so I am looking at those. As far as quality I have seen no issues. The leather is quite comfortable and does not change over time. There are multiple styles to choose from so you can pick which you like the best.

What's cool, and you forgot to mention, is the round knob you twist/turn under the seat to loosen it up and recline. Then tighten in place. I'm not doing justice in it's descriptions but it's a very neat feature of the chair and different than other recliners.

I got the left most stressless for playing Playstation with my son, a lot of other people I know got them for a garage or a man-cave. It might be that the couch era is dying out slowly, I see a lot more people go for a living room set, rather than a single couch.

So the left one, stressless L model, very comfortable, but lack a headrest, which is a huge downfall. The middle one, stressless, has a headrest, comfortable, but quite tough, least comfortable out of the three. Middle one, Elano Lotus leather swivel chair, custom, gas cylinder recliner, the whole chair sits on a spring mechanism. I've never seen something like this before, best comfort level out of the three.

Stressless Recliners Bad Reviews
My first one I found at a consignment shop....it was a Reno with the fabric. We are vegetarian and so I figured this would be better (although only two out of our 5 are fabric). It was $450 and came with the laptop table still in the box! As you know, that table retails for $600. We have fun looking for used models...just yesterday we bought two for our house in Florida....one for the Lanai. At $200 I figure there is no problem if the humidity gets to it in a year or two. In the used market there are some resellers who want $1200 or so for chairs they likely purchased for $500. But if you have patience you can find one yourself for the lower price. The most we paid was $500 for a "as-new" Reno in black leather. The best price was $200 yesterday for a green Mayfair which works fine for the Lanai use but is not up to the same standards as the others. It's almost become a hobby in itself. I wanted another laptop table (we now have 2 of them). I finally found a woman in Maine who had parts of one for sale for $10. Yes, $10. - she had hoped for local PU and I was in FL, but I told her I would pay here an extra $20 plus any UPS fees.....so it cost me about $50 delivered. Stressless sent me the small missing parts for free. Oh, it's the good one....folks should not be fooled into buying the first model of the laptop table....learn the difference!

I own about 5 of them.....only the originals, and all purchased used for $200 to $500 each. Some even came with the Laptop tables! For us they are perfect and definitely worth the money. Would I buy a new one for 3K? No way. Would I buy a new design? Unlikely. Keep in mind we do have the $$ to buy them new if we wanted to. I'd somewhat trust those reviews...especially if they are on models which aren't the Classic designs. FYI, in terms of the simple manual chairs, the Reno is the ultimate in comfort. The strange looking styling is all functional.

I loved it so much when we bought our new house I got brand new love seat/couch/2 chairs and 2 ottoman’s from them. They are made in Norway I believe and are hands down the best furniture I’ve ever owned. They are a bit pricey but you can find some used for a lot cheaper. Hope this helps. Just my two cents.
