I have four kids and need to buy a new sofa.
My folks believed the same, leather for kids and critters cause it wipes off. Unfortunately the animals did claw/chew the leather a bit, but furniture gonna get patina and scars, it's ok. That said, I wouldn't pick white (might depend on the leather finish, some clean easier than others) and the leather can be slippery, so consider the shape of the sofa and its cushions before selecting. It's annoying when you're trying to relax on the sofa and you keep sliding off. "Outdoor furniture" fabric (eg Sunbrella) is also an option. It's supposed to resist scrapes, cuts, and spills. Never had it, but if I had destructive housemates I might consider it.

Patio dining furniture
Totally see your point with the glass table tops, given the winds, etc in your environment. I had the same concerns about mesh chairs before I bought, but there hasn't been a single issue, and they have been outside, mostly in direct sun, and just left outside in the Canadian winters all these years, with all the ice and snow that entails. The important thing I was told to look for was "Sunbrella" material that is UV stable. Keep us updated on when you do pull the trigger. I'm always curious to see the final decision people make. Whatever choice you finally make will be the right one for you.

Sorry if wrong sub, needing waterproof blanket/cover (?) for outdoor furniture
Sorry, time to make new cushions with sunbrella fabric. It’s a bummer with your time crunch.

Outdoor furniture cushions that are waterproof, or close to it?
If you use vinyl or vinyl-backed (sunbrella marina) moisture will still come in through the seams but will not be able to escape via evaporation. You want cushions made from open-cell RTC foam- it’s designed to let the water flow through and evaporate easily when paired with a water resistant but breathable fabric case. Sometimes a mesh bottom is used with waterproof material. You can also use a furniture cover that would keep water and dust (and animals) away from the cushions so they’re ready for use when you want them. I make bespoke furniture (and machine) covers from a variety of materials and fit depending on your budget. Pm me for details!

covers/fabric for patio furniture
I really depends on your location. Different places have different typical weather which means a fabric that works well in Illinois won't work as well in California. If you're located in California, Florida, or places like that, I would suggest Sunbrella Marine because of it's breathability. This allows any condensation under the cover to dry up relatively quickly. If you're in a place like Illinois where the winters can be rough, Harbortime Edge is a great material because of it's slight vinyl coating on both sides making it a great. durable material. This material would work well for both patio furniture covers and grill covers. Stamoid Light is another great material that's waterproof. While it's not the best for large island grills, it works great for patio furniture covers and is very light weight. All of these fabrics have great durability and covers made out of them typically last at least 5 years. I've seen Sunbrella covers last long over 10 years! Hope this helps and feel free to ask for any clarification :)
