  With a new style of water bottle popping up every year, Which one have you stuck with?

  Takeya for water, simple modern for other hot/cold drinks. I’ve had them both for a few years and love them. The caps for the takeya are interchangeable for all sizes. The lids are wide enough I can clean them out easily and they keep my water cold and hold up to multiple drops. The simple modern tumblers I have for hot/cold lattes and whatnot are good also, they have hot and cold lids and I have glass straws that fit.

  I’ve got a bunch of Takeya insulated metal bottles that are great. If the water bottle is going to be rolling around or otherwise getting beat up, I’ve got a BPA free Nalgene that is at least eight years old. In the summer, at camp, I have an insulated gallon container that I fill the Nalgene from. I think it’s made by a company called Manna or something like that. If anyone needs to know about a stupidly gargantuan water bottle, I can look it up.

  Takaya makes awesome lids, with a little mouth piece that you can expose with a smaller screw cap. They last and last. A little nicer than Nalgene because they're easy to drink out of, but it's still a wide mouth lid so you can put ice in there.

  I went from HydroFlask to Takeya, mostly to save money without sacrificing quality. I save even more at Costco since they sell their products in two packs (usually) under the brand Thermoflask and at least some of the parts are interchangable.

  Takeya has been by go to for years and you can tell by all the dents and scrapes! I love how they have replaceable seals so I can just replace them vs a whole bottle. And the lids are interchangeable so when I inevitably lose one or it’s dirty I can just grab another mismatching one and be good to go when I’m in a rush.

  I have had a 40 oz Takeya with a screw top spout lid since February 2017. The handle on the lid broke in July 2023 and I replaced it. Mine is purple and the paint has chipped a bit at the bottom from the numerous times I've dropped it, but otherwise it's like new. There's been times I've thought about getting a new one but there's no real reason to.

  I second the Takeya items! I have used their cup and water bottle for 6 or 7 years. They go with me every where and used daily. I have dropped them SO many times and they have the dents to prove it, but they still perform as expected and stay sealed.

  I have an og strawberry for hot and a giant takeya for cold. I am not particularly loyal to takeya but it's tritan and works great and at the time it was the biggest tritan one I could find.

  I refuse to get rid of my Nalgene, but I seldom use it for two main reasons. 1. They don't fit in cup-holders. 2. They're not insulated. I use 22oz insulated Takeya/ThermoFlask bottles because they're the largest volume bottles I could find that are insulated and fit into cup-holders. The insulation is less important to me than the cup-holder thing... I just got sick of my Nalgene blowing out the side pouches of my backpacks, rolling around my car, and just generally being an inconvenience. If water volume is going to be an issue, I just bring a second one, and that's still more convenient than a single Nalgene.

  Pretty much all water bottles and hydration systems are on the Nalgene standard for lids/mouths. I use Takeya and ThermoFlask bottles, which are probably all made in the exact same factory as Hydroflask and IronFlask, and they're all the exact same size and thread lids/mouths as Nalgene.

  The Takeya 17oz Traveler Leakproof Coffee Mug is the one I grab most often. (IMO it's a water bottle, NOT a coffee mug.) I know they're unpopular because the carry ring breaks easily, which makes the lid unusable, but I never use the ring so it doesn't matter for me. It's an comfortable size to carry around and the flip lid with pour spout is the easiest to drink from while driving. I have Nalgene, Hydroflask, S'well and some no-name brand, but the Takeya is the one I use 90% of the time.

  Leakproof & Dishwasher Safe Water Bottles

  I’ve had good luck with the Takeya Actives bottles the spout lid is leakproof and dishwasher safe. Hydro Flask with the chug cap is another solid option (they sell replacement gaskets too). Both have held up way better than the random ones where the silicone ring keeps falling out.

  Finally found a water bottle that doesn't crap out after a year

  I have a bunch of stainless steel water bottles, double insulated. Cheap China, Owala, Takeya, Hydroflask, Ozark Trail. We use them daily, and put them thru the dishwasher nightly. All of the double walls have held up as far as keeping ice all day or night if they don't get washed. I haven't had any that stopped keeping cold. After 10 years, a lot of the powder coating on all of them have started getting a dull finish from the dishwasher. The ones that have dents from dropping begin to get flaking over time. The point of breakdown is usually the lid. I dropped my owala lid, and the plastic where the straw inserts cracked. A few other lids have also been dropped and plastic handles or the flip top part will be the break point. But lids are fairly cheap to replace in comparison to the bottle. Same with silicone rings. So my rec is just to get the bottle that fits where you need it to (backpack holder, car cup holder) and has the lid you like. The Owalas are the current favorite for ease of use and in style for my kid. I have a few Fauxwalas from Temu, and other than they don't have Owala label, work just the same. And I am sure all of the powder coating issues would be solved with handwashing vs dishwasher. But I hate handwashing. Also, acrylic paint pens are amazing for putting names and designs on water bottles. I have ones that have lasted 9 years with minor touchups.

  Takeya Actives is my fav. It's dishwasher safe, insulated, and no leaks so far. The wide mouth is perfect for cleaning. Just be a bit careful because if dropped it gets dents easily.

  Looking for Water Bottle that will be BIFL.

  I have a 40 oz hydroflask that’s still like new, except for a dent that happened when it fell out of my car onto pavement. Your post made me start to wonder how long I’ve had it…. 2 years and 2 months! If the dent impacted its ability to keep things cold, I haven’t noticed. I bought their bottle cleaning kit so I could get inside the straw. We also have several Takeya bottles in our house that have gone through a lot of abuse and have held up. My 6 year old takes his to school every day and they’re a bit beat up, but still in good shape. They’re not my favorite because I put a ton of ice in mine and the ice blocks the flow of the water, but that’s my only complaint.

  Tiny coffee gadgets that make a big difference?

  We bought a cold brew coffee brewer back in 2018 that shows no signs of breaking or wearing out in spite of multiple dishwasher trips and daily use.  I really dislike hot coffee and the Takeya makes a strong coffee that I have to dilute.   Of all the crazy little things I have a milk frother made by New England Stories (bought through Amazon) that’s going on 2 years.  I love that thing for mixing up a latte and for mixing protein powder into cold brew or cold almond milk.

  BIFL request: A thermos that actually keeps tea hot for hours

  Takeya - it’s like yeti, but costs less. I end up with tea in winter that’s too hot for half the day, and water that’s only ice for half a day in a heatwave. Had them for years, drop them and put them in dishwasher with no major issues.

  Water bottle that keeps water cold?

  I got a custom Yeti Rambler 42 oz straw cup for my birthday this year with my name on it lol I love it for around the house! I bought two for the house actually, the other was the clearance mint green one. We have some yeti coffee mugs too. I still use my 64oz insulated Takeya from Target form like a decade ago and it works great but it’s heavy when filled with ice water and long story short I got hit in the head with it and don’t want myself or my toddler getting hurt in the house again so.. Ramblers for the house!

  I want to buy a good water bottle

  Have a dozen Yeti tumblers and cups - never fail, always useful - no clue why I have so many, but I actually do use them all for different things/scenarios. Their sealing chug cap is the best I’ve seen and I use them on both Yeti bottles and RTIC bottles - awesome design. Have a half dozen RTIC tumblers and cups that are honestly just as good as Yeti. Have a Stanley 42 and a Stanley Thermos with lid/cup. Love them both. Had a Takeya 32 that I recently got rid of because it was so beat up. Have a couple Owalas that we like a lot (my wife is big on these). Never saw any appeal of Hydroflask and don’t ask me why because I don’t have an answer. Never have had one and don’t think I ever will. No more insulated drinkware for me 😂.

  Eh, other than aesthetics, I don't have a problem with dents. I have a Hydro Flash imitation (brand is called Takeya) that I have dropped several times on pavement, concrete, etc, and the only effect is the looks. It still holds water without leaking and works fine. I don't really care about how it looks.

  My hydroflask is my daily. Then I have a Takeya that is my beater but still a boss. That thing has been dropped constantly and even from heights up to 25ft, bounced constantly around my forklift cab at my old job, and still standing. Sure, some small dents, scratched to shit, and I can hear a piece of metal that's broken in between the inside & outside walls that slides around. But the inside steel wall is still sealed 100% and nothing is actually broken to where I can't use it.

  I have way too many water bottles that I have bought or received as gifts. I think there are some questions that most people should answer before buying a water bottle. 1) Do you want to add ice? 2) What type of cap do you enjoy, open top, straw, flip top etc… 3) Do you need a handle? 4) Do you care about how it looks/if it dents? 5) How much insulation do you need? 6) How heavy do you want it to be? I think a hydroflask is a decent all around bottle that you can get in a variety of sizes. The standard one has a top you can change out for a straw or flip top. It keeps water cold for awhile. I have a yeti I got as a gift that has some sort of outside coating that never dents or chips, but it is heavier and has a slide top which I don’t care for. My favorite bottle right now is a Takeya. It’s plastic on the outside, stainless on the inside, has a handle and a chug top. I also have a memo bottle for when I want something light and packable.

  Try the takeya lid! I don’t know what’s newer though, maybe someone else has a suggestion. I have had mine since 2022 according to Amazon lol. You only have to unscrew the small top part to drink.
