  Desperate for a couch that doesn't suck

  Buy something made in North Carolina. Hickory Chair, Baker, MGBW (the original company, rip), CR Laine, Taylor King…there are plenty more. My mother’s Baker sofa was bought in the early 80s and it’s only needed new cushions once. It’s a classic, blue velvet and it looks great.

  Crate & Barrel isn't BIFL. 😆 The other poster got a very good deal, but that doesn't mean it's going to last 40-50 years. BIFL or very close USA-made sectionals start at $10,000. Sofas would be about $5,000 - $8,000 depending on size and upholstery mostly. BIFL or very close USA-made brands are Kindel Grand Rapids, Taylor King, Hancock and Moore, Century Furniture, Vanguard Furniture, Sherrill Furniture, and Stickley. La-Z-Boy and Flexsteel aren't BIFL. They've outsourced a lot of their manufacturing.

  Loveseat/small couch recommendations?

  Unfortunately that's not a BIFL budget unless you buy second hand. Made in USA higher quality brands: Kindel Grand Rapids, Taylor King, Hancock and Moore, Sherrill Furniture, King Hickory, Century Furniture, Vanguard Furniture, and Stickley. These tend to be traditional designs. I helped price out a Taylor King "Taylor Made" 64" wide "Plush" depth loveseat with Grade 34 fabric in April 2024. If I recall correctly, the price was about $2,640. And that's from an abnormally cheap Mennonite furniture dealer in Pennsylvania Amish country. Prices would be higher in a typical showroom. At the moment, a store called Gabberts sells a Taylor King "Kahn Ottoman" that's 24.5" w x 24.5" d x 19" h in a Grade 46 fabric. It's discounted to $1,275 and normally $1,815.
