  Why not a mix between alu/carbon steel and titanium non stick depending on your usage? Lagostina Tempra Mineral (made in France) Maaaybe Tefal Titanium 6x (made in France) Other brands have "titanium" stuffs. And for roasting, true BIFL: Cristel: inox with removable handles and goes to dishwasher. De Buyer Carbon steel. Just make sure to season them if needed the first time, then enjoy. In any case skip the made in China and cheap brands. There's non-stick and there's non-stick.

  Non-stick cookware - Anolon, Tramontina, T-Fal

  Although everyone agrees that Iron, Carbon steel or aluminium are more BIFL, I would argue that non stick cookware have their use case. When I asked my pro cook friends what they were using at home they all said: those non-stick "titanium" (whatever commercial name/brand). Which really surprised me. But it's fairly simple: more simple for cooking meat and eggs, much lighter, easier maintenance. Now of course it's not as BIFL as metal materials, but there are some fairly good ones. Here's my take... Anything like pots, go for aluminium. Non-stick has no real benefits here. Pans: -Check Tefal Titanium x6 made in France. Not the made in China ones!! I recently changed my Tefal Titanium x3 from 20 years ago that I was using almost every 2 days. Went in the dishwasher every time. Any lesser non-stick material I ever had like Teflon would last max 2 years and should be avoided. -Also Lagostina stone (something brand name), also made in France. Doing good with me so far. -If you wanna go Carbon steel, Aluminium, etc, be aware of the maintenance procedure, cooking procedures and that they are fairly heavy. These are very good for restaurants but can be overkill for basic home cooks. You need to check the models which go in the dishwasher. Potentially models working with induction. I found that the brand Cristel has some models fitting those criteria but there may be others.

  Good toaster for 30/35$

  For that price range, you can still find a few solid toasters that do a great job on regular bread. Look for one with a long slot design (so you can toast full slices evenly) and at least a mid-range wattage around 900–1000W — that helps with even browning instead of one side burning while the other stays pale. Moulinex and Russell Hobbs both make decent entry-level models, and Tefal’s are usually reliable for daily use. Just focus on even heat distribution and easy-to-clean crumb trays over fancy features — that’s what really matters at this budget.   Which brand has the Best Steam Iron?

  Braun or Tefal are generally good options. I had my last Braun for around 3 years and no problems with regular use, but it got dropped one too many times!

  You’re in the UK so have more options, they sadly don’t seem to iron much here in the US.  If you have the space and budget, steam station irons are awesome.  LauraStar for megasplurge, Braun/Tefal as medium tier, and Philips on sale as an affordable option but it will still be good.  No experience of Rowenta but tons of bad Amazon reviews. They are basically the only steam station option in the US though.

  3-in-1 multifunctional devices (sandwich maker, waffle iron, contact grill)

  For 38€ you are going to get what you pay for. It will function poorly in all those conditions. Will it make sandwiches and waffle, sure but you won’t really use it that much after the first couple of times. There is no way you are going to get nice waffles out of that, or nice sandwiches. Go check out the Tefal Optigrill, those are nice but not cheap.

  UK Rice Cooker that has a good keep warm function

  The made in France TEFAL gear is good, we have a bunch of stuff from them including a mukti-function rice cooker (can do other grains like couscous), which has a keep warm. They are good for spares too (no problem getting a new seal for our pressure cooker after the best part of a decade, for example).
