There's tape you can buy that'll fix that pretty well. "Tenacious Tape" is the brand I'm familiar with but I'm sure there are others. Put a piece of that on and it'll be good for a couple years at least.

How do I repair this part of the shoe? I know I could buy a new pair but why when the rest of the shoe is in great condition?
[These patches](https://a.co/d/gOQKAxv) work a lot better, just make sure to hit them with a hair dryer to really activate the adhesive. I’ve used tenacious tape in a pinch, but this is the more permanent solution. Altra’s are notorious for getting shredded up, but they’re also one of the few options that work for me without triggering my foot issues, so I just put up with it and repair as needed.

I use Tenacious Tape or something similar. Works pretty well though occasionally you have to replace it.
